What is the worst Nintendo game?

I've been revisiting the Gamecube library throughout September and I hate to say but I think Twilight Princess and StarFox Assault are ehm... not great.

TP has maybe the worst introduction ever for a Zelda game. Its why I started it 3 times and could never make it past 2 hours. The graphics are cursed with bloom overload and it generally just looks like shit. I thought it looked like shit even on release day back then. I'm going to keep playing through it, it must get better at some point but it is so weak 3 hours in and does not represent the quality I'm used to seeing with Nintendo developed games,

Assault is just not clicking with me at all. The ground stages feel like janky Earth Defence Force levels shoehorned in. The characters and narrative are dumb and generic, and not in the cheesy way that would be endearing to the franchise. Idgaf, stop talking and let's go shoot stuff. The more these games shifted focus from environmental storytelling through gameplay and into a narrative focus, the weaker the pacing. Sometimes that's fine but not what I want in a Starfox game.

All the early NES sports games except probably Tennis where I spent most time in Animal Crossing for GC. But, good lord, everything else just no.

I was thinking of having other nintendo games instead however I think that StarFox Zero just stands out for being a new level of terrible for Nintendo.

Btw that one was co-developed by Platinum Games.
It hurts even more because Platinum games is a talented developer studio that could have made a great starfox game if wasn't for Nintendo forcing Platinum games to use the Wii U gamepad and controls everywhere.

The gamepad would've acted like a secondary UI instead of those gimmicks.

Starfox Guard used the tablet much better.

On the other hand I dislike that they're recycling the first game's plot again.

It's more because of bad timing than the game itself I think.

A lot of extremely bad takes here. It's true that even the worst Nintendo games aren't even terrible, they're just mid. They have such a consistent track record that users here have to cheat by either going for the CD-i games or other games not developed by the big N.

Trust me, dude. I feel awful to consider a Kirby game, of all franchises, a bad experience. But unfortunately I had mostly frustrations than joy. To be fair: I really liked the minigames from there. Those were definitely the best parts. But the main game? Yeah, not so much.
Just to be specific: it's not (obviously) the worst videogame experience I ever had. But from Nintendo...yeah, it's definitely the case.

I feel choosing games like DK Jet Race or Super Mario Pinball would be considered more normal takes than most you'll see here.

TLOZ: BOTW/TOTK its a really overrated and mid Skyrim wannabe, with subpar graphics and tuck in the switch, and with a gameplay loop extremely boring and repetitive of making a shitty construction over and over again. : )

Even if you think this, it's still far from the worst Nintendo game. Not even the worst in its own series.

>comes in
>sees TOTK/BOTW in worst Nintendo thread
>big lol
The jokes write themselves

Tbf the thread asked for the Worst Nintendo game. Even if their worst game isn't bad its still their worst.

I dunno, it comes off a bit smarmy.

Not that anyone asked but since the topic came up - BotW abandoned the core dungeon element of the series, which sucked, so I understand why some really don't vibe with it. Although I did have a great time. TotK though, I think it's one of the most overrated games ever made for many reasons. Primarily though, the build mode is anti-zelda. Many puzzles can be janked through which should never happen in a zelda game, imo. It's somehow both surprising and not surprising that the mechanic was approved.

There are far worse games, but I have to mention that I was 13 when Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash came out. I got it sometime in 2016, because I wanted to make a big purchase for the family Wii U using my own money. I remember none of the games on the shelf standing out to me, but I got the worst in-ear pain I’ve ever felt that day while looking at the games and made a hasty selection because I’d heard people talking good about Mario Power Tennis and Tennis 64 at the time and got the game off that principle.

I learned that day the difference between GameCube era Nintendo and Wii U era Nintendo. I still remember that playing the game and realizing how shallow it was both to play and in its amount of content was more painful than the ear pain. It took two rounds of tennis before the game became clear that it was a mistake.

A secondary example: Mario Party 10 was the only game to ever heavily disappoint my mom. She was a massive Mario Party 8 fan, got everything in that game on her own, and spent about 60 hours in it? Years later, we get 10 after skipping 9 since she didn’t keep up with games, and I remember her telling me “wow. This is a really bad game.”
