What gaming "alternative timeline" would you like to see?

Totally fair point, but the tactics game does look good and its better than nothing to keep the series alive.
You’re right there it does look nice

A timeline where Square gives Xenogears a full budget, thus releasing a 3-disk... no, 4-disk game ?
The same timeline sees Xenogears 2, Xenogears 3, Chrono Cross 2, Chrono Cross 3...

Also, a timeline where the beautiful and quite cool RE2/3 remakes are actually faithful to their originals, especially RE2R keeping and enhancing the double/quadruple story!

When i read the title, i thought you are talking about in-game timelines which didn't happen and we wished to see!
Things like if Green was protagonist in Gunstar Heroes or such... ?
That's a cool thread theme in and of itself, you should open it!

A timeline where 3d games were never invented.
Team Innocent becomes the #1 survival horror game. Platformers move towards pre-rendered graphics after the success of Donkey Kong Country. Final Fantasy never has any 10 minute-long summon animations. Sonic never has a bad game.

-Microsoft won't join the video game industry and stick to only computers which leads Rare to still be a 2nd party company with Nintendo making new IPs and Donkey Kong Racing gets released.
-Sega making an official Sonic 3D Saturn game using the 3D gameplay from Sonic Jam
-Hudson Soft becomes a 2nd party company with Nintendo so Mario Party 9 and 10 won't be terrible Bomberman 3DS didn't get canceled, and Bomberman makes it in Smash Bros.
-Sony does not add a DVD player in the PS2 so the Gamecube and Dreamcast equally sell well in every region.
-Sony does not make games that act like a TV show or movie.
-Capcom adds the Disney Afternoon Collection to Switch

Definitely would love it if Sega stuck it out with the console development. They definitely would have continued to have innovated and we could have gotten an alternative to the glorified PCs and tablets we have today.

Something I think about constantly is what would have happened if one of those weird non-mainstream consoles introduced between the 4th and 5th generations became dominant in the industry.

Can you imagine what kind of games we’d be getting right now if the 3DO beat the PlayStation? Or if the CD-i made Phillips a major game developer? Or if the Vectrex became the template for portable gaming? That’s a timeline I need to switch to ASAP.

Speaking of the 3DO, it also would have been very beneficial to the industry if its model of standardized operating software spread across licensed hardware had taken off. That way, we’d have a choice in what version of our modern consoles we could buy, and we’d never have to deal with poor form factors or build quality. Sigh…………………

- Obsidian gets the metacritic bonus from Bethesda
One of my closest friends works there and did at that time, so I agree. They got a bum rap on that.

I too would like for Sega to have hung on in the hardware market, but since that has been picked: I wish the entire line of colored Gamecubes they showed at... maybe E3 2001 (?) had released. There was a sweet pink one in there that never came out, even as a limited edition.

PLATINUM GAMES SCALEBOUND

Or Nintendo power continuing into the current year

For me personally, I would love to see the timeline where the Dreamcast didn't die and Sega kept making consoles after it. I know that's a bit cliche, but as a Sega fan its something I've thought about for years lol.

But what's an alternate timeline that you would want to see?

What happened if Sony and Nintendo did make a that Nintendo add on snes what will be like today Mario and Crash Bandicoot.

Damn, I was just about to say this lol!

The timeline where the Dreamcast was a success.
The Dreamcast will always be a success in my heart 😔

I think about this too sometimes. I wonder what games would have came out for it.

The timeline where Vanilla Ninja Gaiden 3 and Yaiba didn't get made (Razor's Edge can stay) and put the franchise in hibernation and we instead got numerous great NG games over the last decade.

Heck, lot's of franchises where the game that killed them never happened.

timeline where Kouji Okada and Satomi Tadashi never left Atlus and they keep making Megaten games with Kazuma Kaneko as the artist.
and the timeline where Metroidvania never happen.
and the timeline where all Digimon are Digital Monsters, not Digital Cosplayer or some kind of jagged shining armored shit.
