What gaming "alternative timeline" would you like to see?

That would have been interesting to see! also, you forgot Metal Slug 10.
I know it's controversial, but the drama between Marco and his half-Martian son hit a little too close to home, I'm glad they changed course in MS 11.

They are leaving that one for the Visual Novel Spinoff, Metal Slug: Forgotten War Records.

Bit of an off-topic thing, but I recall reading someone on a forum decades ago saying that it was possible to trigger that on Banjo-Kazooie, but that your game was permanently on that mode afterwards, even if you erased all your data. Didn't affect it at all, however.

Maybe BS, but I trusted the OP.
You can collect the secret items by inputting codes in the sand castle. Those codes were left in the cartridge as a safety net by the developers (if I'm not mistaken) and were discovered by hackers 3 years later.

After collecting these items it's like you say, they're permanently collected globally for all the save files. Unless you remove the battery from your cartridge or something.

The intended way (the cartridge swapping) was actually fully implemented in Kazooie, so if you had an hypothetical game that interacted with that feature, it would work. Like this Ocarina of Time romhack running on a flashcart:

Sega's success with outsourcing games to their fans make them reconsider being so closedminded about fangames and actually hires their makers like with Sonic Mania's makers

Alternatively, they double down and let games they can not longer profit from become freeware

What if Sega continued making consoles after Dreamcast?
View attachment 11595
What innovations could Sega’s console have offered?
Powerful hardware: 3.0 GHz processor, 1080p support, 2-4 GB of memory.
Innovative controllers: Motion sensors, AR, enhanced vibration.
Online services: Multiplayer, video and music streaming.
Multimedia features: Blu-ray drive, integration with social networks.
Partnerships: Exclusives and support for third-party developers.
Mobile integration: Smartphones as secondary screens.
Top games for the Dreamcast 2:
  • Phantasy Star V
  • Wonder Boy: Dragon's Trap II
  • Castlevania Resurrection
  • Chakan 3D
  • Eternal Champions 3 (w/ online mode)
  • Fighter's MegaMix Party (like Smash, but with an all-Sega cast)
  • Ecco: Defend the Future Online (MMO)

I thought some:
-Sony nevers abandons the vita and we got more exclusives and PS2 ports
- Sonic 06 is developed with zero issues
- Silent hill Origins is released with the beta elements/Story
- Itsuno is from the start in DMC 2 development
- FF7 remake is the type of remake like RE Remake
- Metal Gear V is released with the full story
- Dragon Age 2 development is not rushed and also the expansion is not cancelled
- Bioware nevers get bought by EA
- Obsidian finishes KOTOR 2 with all the planned content
- Obsidian gets the metacritic bonus from Bethesda
- Tadashi Satomi still work in Atlus

It's absurd that they haven't honestly. Sonic should always have been developed in two fronts, like Mario is.

That was a really good explanation... thank you!

Another one: Atari develops the Jaguar as a pure 32-bit system, pouring a lot of resources into making it easy to program for. It also gets a damn dust door on the cartridge slot lol

I know this dude. Was in his discord server in 2019. Chill guy.

I'd like to visit a timeline where MOTHER/Earthbound games continued on, same style, just maybe like two more games.
And my personal timeline pick would be where FF8 got remade instead of 7. I don't even have to stay in that timeline.. Just let my biggest gaming wish come true.

When i read the title, i thought you are talking about in-game timelines which didn't happen and we wished to see!
Things like if Green was protagonist in Gunstar Heroes or such... ?

FF8 did need a remake much more than 7 yeah.

The timeline where Castlevania Resurrection was realeased for the Dreamcast. I am soo curious in that what if a how could be the one thing that changed Castlevania direction in general. I love the timeline we are but i am soo curious for that missing game.

It looks nice although metal slug is a shooter series.
Totally fair point, but the tactics game does look good and its better than nothing to keep the series alive.
