What encouraged you to stay on RGT?

As a lot of people I came for the ROMs but stayed because of the community. In the pre social media times when forums were popular I didn't have a PC, so I completely missed that culture, and this place is somewhat a way for me to catch on. Its a refreshing experience in the age of reactionary content and drama, and I like that RGT captures that old internet vibe. Sure, we get some rage baiters from time to time but its nothing compared to other places.

It's the safest and most comfortable place for me to hang around even if I'm just lurking most post. Social media seriously degrade my mental health and currently taking a break from 'em for maybe up to ~4 weeks before jumping back to the pool of poison.

But the actual reason is for the ROMs, needed an account to download them, and I might as well stay here for a while. Like walking to a nice hidden pub.

Like the other people around here i was also joined just to access the REPO since CD Romance was my go to if i wanted to search for any eng-patched games. And honestly the account itself stay in slumber for a whole year i believe.

Until a few months ago i got nothing to do in my internship and i kinda curious so i opened the forum. And i remember correctly the first thread i see was an article talking about stranger to heaven (IIRC).

Upon inspecting the forums more, i try and create an introduction thread, and seeing all the people here are nice and i mean we share almost the same interest, i stayed and boom here i am now '>'

This thread might not apply to me since I'm still kinda new but I decided to stick around for the sake of a 'fresh new start' in terms of social relativity.
Being on things like Discord, Twitter and Steam for 'social stuff' just felt depressing. The lack of mutual respect and bonds I felt on there is a big reason, but also (to back up what Tatsujin said) no one really cared what I had to say back then too.

But on here it is so different. Like everything I experienced before was practice before the real sense of community decided to dawn on me.
Everyone I meet and everytime I interact with someone new it's literally so cool to talk with all of you guys, the interactions are filled with so much fun.

You guys are amazing. Legit I love you all for introducing to me what a community is actually supposed to feel like. To feel friendship and joy from social interaction when previously it felt like smoke and mirrors.

The possibility that I'd lose access to the Repo mainly, and because @Samantha asked me to stay nicely on another thread. P.S I read all your posts in Lisa Simpson's voice.
And I guess I ended up liking or getting used to interacting semi-regularly with the users here, I wouldn't say I'm anyone's friend but I like seeing @BrawlMan @Appiplyer @Sheepy765 @Ikagura just to name a few among others here.

Also, thanks for the recommends in the 2-Player thread, I'm still downloading the resto of those recommendations. ::handshake

I have met wonderful people on this forum, and I love that I can post about the games I complete and that people react to it. Also it's great that a lot of people here remember others people birthdays it's something minor but I love it.

Hmmmm for me I always respected the hard work been put into CDRomance and I was very sad when the site went into a lot of uhh "humps and bumps" so when I learned that it changed it's name to RGT I was like "I have to make an account I love this site so much for what it does for the Video Games scene"

and I didn't really know of the existence of the forum since I have quit social media for 2 years now? so when I eventually learned that there is a forum I was like "Cool! I always wanted to be in a forum" not to mention I'm a sucker for old things vibes and forums are a very very awesome piece of the internet that I thought had died down but thankfully it lives very strong here! (´ ˘ `).。oO (♡)

for a lack of a better word but this forum feel more real and have more social aspects than modern social media

Not to parrot others; but for me it was initially for the repo after CDR shutdown, and then I stayed for the people we have on here. Never been big on social media (I literally have a twitter account for the sole purpose of following artists I like), but this also became a place where I can post the things I like and talk about them. RGT is...

I'm anyone's friend but I like seeing @BrawlMan @Appiplyer @Sheepy765 @Ikagura just to name a few among others here.
Thank you. You're cool person yourself, @extermist.

I come here, because conversations are the most fun here, aside from Famiboards, and there are really not many other places left or other forums are barren. Barely anyone shows up at the DMC forums anymore, and it got worse after COVID. Spacebattles I hate, and the mods take themselves way too seriously. Escapist Forums while active, has not much going on either, and is only so by comparison to DMC fan forums.

I'm touched that you enjoy talking to me. '>' to be honest i always thought you were this cool and logical person around here.

Mostly for the games and patches, but also because I can read/write recommendations about favourite titles and genres.

@Archienine The friends we make along the way, and I also thought, "Oh, nobody will like the things I like." I've loved old things since I was a child; I learned this from my late grandfather, whom I never met. He always liked old things; he always went to a flea market in the city. And I started to like it here, and I was thinking, "Will anyone like my comments?" I forget a nice person all the time.

"Came for the Repo, stayed for the forum community"
- Me and 70% of RGT

I like this place. People are chill and they share an interest in my main hobby.
I like the old school forums setup. It reminds me of an older version of the internet.
I dont use social media at all (I really dont like it) so this is the closest thing I use.

Like many I found this place after the CDRomance thing. I was really drawn to the aesthetic and early 2000's style forum format. The community has been pleasant as well and non-toxic.

Yeah. I like it here.

It's a lovely community that's very passionate about retro gaming, like myself, and a place where I can be myself without fear of judgment (unlike Twitter). Of course, I'm also thankful for the continued presentation of each game added to the Repository.

knowing that this place isn't a Reddit or Tumblr community. But seriously, the collection of ROMs and people in general being respectful and not acting like people from the two places mentioned before—if you've ever tried posting a question on a subreddit or delved deeper into a Tumblr post, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Twitter sucked so hard that I needed something else to be consistently active on, and one day when I was browsing CDromance I suddenly saw a "Forum" section and I got curious. Lurked around for a while until I finally decided to be more regularly active by around February-March of last year.
