What developers you currently trust?

Shift Up, Project Aces(Ace Combat), and Camelot Software. Everyone else has let me down either too often, or so massively that they lost my trust and respect. Square Enix, Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Bioware, Crapcom, Bungie, 343(never really had my trust/respect to begin with to be honest), Guerrilla Games, and Bugthesda have all earned permanent places in my Shit List.

"Trust"

Like they're gonna have your back when shit goes down.

Nah man

I don't 'trust'.
I second this lol.

I don't believe in trusting any company, because, guess what? They don't give the slightest shit about you, the customer. The only thing they care about is making the most amount of money in the fastest way possible. The only people I "trust" (and I am saying this very, and I mean very, loosely) are the indie developers, mainly Gamatron AB, the person who made Songs of Syx, a game that I have been playing recently, and that I have consistently had fun with.

I don't think it's healthy to develop "trust" relationship with video game companies. They are not our friends. Each product should be judged separately by its own merit.

In the case of always online or DRM bound games (Yes, even Steam), they can at any moment pull the rug from under you, even if it initially was a good product from a "trustworthy" company, like in the case of SkullGirls and its sudden censorship patch, or countless other games that were forever ruined by bad updates.

The modern video game industry is particularly bold in its anti-consumer practices, even to the point of altering a product you already paid for. So it's really the last industry you would like to place any form of trust in.

Given how a lot of studios (Specifically, western devs) have demonstrated their lack of care towards you, the customer, my trust towards a good majority of them is fading away.

Closest is Capcom but not entirely because while the games are usually satisfying, there's usually one thing they do that annoys me whether it's a new outrageous microtransaction or a gameplay element...maybe even both.

I'll probably trust an indie developer with clear passion in their work than a big company.

Oh, and Grasshopper/Suda51.
I don't even trust Wayforward, and I am a big Shantae fan. Until they get away from LRG, I'm not supporting them anymore. Especially when LRG got caught with their pants down reusing dirty, old chips that had identifying markers grinded off for the GBA release of Shantae Risky Revolution.

Grasshopper Manufacture and CLOVERS are our saviors
Grasshopper just released new game: Romeo is a Dead Man

SUDA51 does not disappoint. He is the only guy that can give
Kojima a run for his money.

I make no excuses for either, but at least WF bothers to me, the games people want and deliver full games. LRG I stopped dealing with a long while back. I will keep in mind what you said about the old, dirty, chips.

Grasshopper just released new game: Romeo Must Die

I find Suda better than Kojima.

I have three
-Bayachao (ChaoGames) Devil Connection, Nine Tailed Okitsune Tale (Highly recommend playing Devil Connection)
-Hal Laboratory (Kirby)
-Kojima Productions (Death Stranding Metal Gear Solid Zone of The Enders)
I would say all these three because each of this developers or Companies have made some of my favorite games of all time and I just trust them a lot I think they always make bangers.

None of them tbh. Only one I'll trust wholeheartedly would be Treasure. The day they rise from the ashes and give us another guaranteed banger will be the greatest day in all our lives.

Not to take anything away from Kojima, but I tend to agree. Travis Touchdown
is one of my favorite video game characters
Travis's hand down the most consistent action game character ever developed. He's also the most well written action game character of all time. Out of all these leading characters, he actually gets the most consistent characterization, and character development. Yes, even more than Dante or Kratos.

many great games that NO ONE talks about
KillerIsDead.jpg
I do. Matt McMuscles and AliciaxDeath/Life too.

As of now well.
ConcernedApe
Lazy Bear Games
Atlus "they have not disapointed me yet" But they likely done allot of shady shit.
Hello games habe reedemed them self 100 times over.

Yeah that´s all of them.
I would say fromsoft but as of now they are on the bench because if Sony buys up rest of Kadokawa and ends up owns them again they will become shit. It will be bloodborn and Demons souls all over again.

As years passing by, i find new games less and less entertaining. So i don't trust big developers anymore.

Nintendo's been doing an incredible job of sucking up all the fun out of their games before they even get released, so now I can't even trust them to make a decent Sandbox Zelda anymore.

It's hard to really trust a AAA dev or publisher, I feel that the ones that will care about their playerbase are mostly indie devs, I used to trust Capcom but... heh, if the scarce mega man games we've gotten if any, and the poor management of some franchises like MH wilds on pc is anything to go from, then yeah not even them ::sadkirby

As many of you guys, i don't trust any of them either.

They not only not care about you, they often don't care about telling a good story and make elevating art with it. Devs nowadays are more concern with ideologies or political narratives, than MAKING ART AND FUN SHIT!!!!

Sorry, it's my bad. The quote I copied was not for you but for the OP. He seems to be young as the devs he trust are from very recent games.
The thing is, like a lot of other people have mentioned here, in general older developers have been bungling up recently, in part because through the years companies generally change a lot and pivot to new strategies, or they just don't make games I really like. I think Suda 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture have been making very interesting games for a long while, but they're just not my cup of tea in general.

I loved Blizzard, old Blizzard. But now it's all about selling games in chunks, retention of players and monetization.

Capcom also isn't making games I feel very interested in. Resident Evil for me was at its best when focused on the Raccoon City outbreak and on classic zombies. Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry were never my jam. The og Dragon's Dogma is alright, although it was grind heavy and having a fundamental feature, trading pawns, behind the online subscription on consoles left a bad taste. And the technical performance and support of their last two games has been pretty iffy.

I come to trust developers based on their output, not their age.

Moonsprout Games. Why? Because Bug Fables is the shit, that's why. I just wish they would, like, make more games.

i think OP meant Developers (the actual creative people involved) not companies (execs, ceos etc.)

Only one i can really think of is Id software as ive really been liking their recent games.

Political Stories and fun games arent mutually exclusive. Fallout new vegas and MGS are good examples of being fun and having good political writing.

The devs arent the problem, its the greedy executives running the show that are the problem

I would trust them again if they stopped making sandbox Zelda.
Well, it would be good if they weren't fuckin' lazy. Just listen to the music in BotW and Totk; I was over 150 hours into BotW before I even realized the game had music.

Honestly can't think of a single one there's developers I like but at this point in time I don't really trust anyone
