What developers do you currently trust to deliver the games you wanna play?

For me:

- Teyon (Terminator Resistence, Robocop Rogue City);
- Saber Interactive (Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, Hellraiser Revival);
- Steel Mantis (Slain: Back From Hell, Valfaris, Slain II).

What about you?

Hmm... now that I think about it... ConcernedApe as well. He's the guy who made Stardew Valley, and I'm sure his upcoming game (Haunted Chocolatier) will be really good too.

Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale and Deltarune, hasn't let me down either.

But yeah. Back in the day I would've said Nintendo, SEGA, Capcom and Square Enix immediately, but damn, not these days. Marvelous Inc is the only big company that hasn't ever disappointed me with their games.

I think they meant trust them to make good games...not lend you a tenner when you're skint.
Yeah, but you're trusting only games that are too new. Don't you have any developer you "trust" that comes from 90's or early 2000? are you under 20 years old?

I simply don't "trust" teams that have not been in the industry for at least 20 years, and even so they can screw things up from time to time.

It can happen that an unknown team released an amazing game, but that's about it. As commented here, Clover, Grasshopper or Marvelous are good candidates. I would add Platinum Games and From Software to the list. Maybe I could add more but now I don't recall :3

Totally agree. I loved classic Harvest Moon games because they were made by Marvelous, but since they got separated I look at them and they are simply horrible. I prefer to stick with Story of Seasons, which are for me the true Harvest Moon :)

None at all because why should you trust them? In recent years they have only disappointed and many games have gotten progressively worse. No, such people have to earn trust back.

Natsume turned Harvest Moon into a fucking dumpster fire but I will say this: Home Sweet Home is a damn good game. Granted, Natsume had to make seven garbage games before they finally got one right, but still.

I am not under 20 no, the guy I put on my post up there is 63 years old.

He's never made a bad game and is probably the dev with the most years making games.

He doesn't do much more than remake Tempest, he does it well though.

Capcom, WayForward, Platinum, Devolver Digital, Flying Wild Hog, Lizard Cube, Modeus, and most indie devs or individuals.

Interesting. I will note it to try it when I feel like I want to play a cozy game :)

Sorry, it's my bad. The quote I copied was not for you but for the OP. He seems to be young as the devs he trust are from very recent games.

Project Aces

"Trust"

Like they're gonna have your back when shit goes down.

Nah man

I don't 'trust'.
I trust you with my energy tanks

How could I have forgotten about Team ICO/genDESIGN? They made three of the best games ever. Takes them a billion years to make a game but they're worth the wait.

@Nebulon_Galaxy Holy crap you're right. Namco Bandai may mess up here and there but not Project Aces, I've played 5 Ace Combat games by now and all of them are awesome.

Mostly Bamco who wanted Assault Horizon to be made. But they made Infinity and that game was fucking amazing
RiP Infinity

None I trust no developer they are there first and foremost to make a profit and not to be our friends,
so yes I don't trust them I watch every product I want to purchase with care for elements I rather avoid.

to may so called good developers from the past that where standing for quality have utterly disappointment in recent years so I am not one who follows a brand name if you get my drift.

I don't trust Bluepoint. There is nothing like seeing a game you love get a butchered remake while games journalists and everyone who never played the original laud the failed port as being so much better than the original game because of the graphics and little else. Especially when the game had every graphics mode but something replicating as close as possible the look of the original game. To say nothing of the main characters face.

Binary Haze has a good track record in my book so far... as for trust, I keep my expectations in the middle cuz' nothing is certain no matter how good they are. It's hard to trust nowadays.::winkfelix

None, not even Grasshopper gets a pass, as they have made a lot of mid stuff in the past too. I feel it's honestly not a good era for gaming and entertainment in general and most devs need to compromise a lot just to stay afloat, so it's not even about devs themselves, but about the state of the industry.

But I also hate the big name mentality thing in which a new studio that hasn't even released a game is instantly trusted because it has famous dude.

That's the problem you can't even trust them to do that.

"When shit goes down" in this context means the next financial quarter comes around, and the shareholders aren't happy. Someone doesn't get their big bonus and now everything get restructured to appeal to the lowest common denominator, some flash in the pan new trend (Streaming/AI/Digital Only), or maybe they just shill to Blackrock for some sweet ESG.

Suddenly your no longer a loyal customer, or their target demographic, and the games you used to like disappear in a puff of smoke.

The whole "it's a business" excuse goes both ways, so if they're no longer providing a product you wish to purchase, dump 'em. I know with the industry constantly kicking the ladder out from under them, it's harder to find something that'll fill that niche, but giving Nintendo (or whoever) a gorillion dollars isn't going to put them back on track.

Also:
lend you a tenner when you're skint.
Oi, you from Sussex, brev?
