I dug my Encino Man DVD out of storage the other day! Have you seen Airheads, by chance? it's another Brendan Frasier movie from the 90's

That's a sweet list, Last Action Hero was killer. Had a big chunk of the toys growing up.

BEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN is Back to the Future (1985).

I feel like it's a bit of a boring choice, it's almost like saying your favorite character in Mario Kart is Mario.

To me it is just THE perfect adventure comedy movie. Does everything right from the action, to the music, to the effects, and even the plot and the characters. Just nails it.

A perfect storm of a movie where everyone involved managed to steer the ship clear from total destruction because if you look at the behind the scenes of it you can see that it was like on the verge of just falling apart throughout the entire process.

It's a very solid choice.

Mostly because it's not "sounding pretentious" (yes, sometimes I have seen people telling that about some movies) and is an original story.

I really miss movies with a story made for the cinema in mind.

I don't see anything wrong with a "boring" choice, as long as it is your choice, ya know? ::peacemario

every film is made for cinema. Even sequels. Back To The Future has two of them and they both rule.

Probably a beaten horse by now but here I go
Lord of the Rings (A true Classic and probably a beaten horse by now ;) )
Spirited Away (My childhood Movie I re watched it many times)
Castle in the Sky (its a Ghibli Movie do I have to say more)
Star Wars a new hope (Yes only the first Movie the Rest of all existing 3 Star Wars Movies where okay to but the first one was my fav and no the other Star Wars movie don't exist I can't hear you......)
Magic Sword (A hidden gem)
The Iron Giant (I guess)
Princess Mononoke (A Classic)
Terminator (probably to long since I watched it)
Der Schatzplanet I think its Treasure Planet in English (one of my Favorites)
Niklas Der Junge aus Flandern (Very sad Movie)
Ab durch die Hecke (I really liked that one as a kid)
Ein Königreich für ein Lama ( ? to don't quote me on that)
Equilbrium
Eine Unendliche Geschichte
Probably more that I can't remember right now

1. 28 Days Later
My favorite movie ever. It has an impressive atmosphere, excellent soundtrack, so much subtext I discover new layers of meaning to it even 23 years later and it remains the only scary zombie movie I have seen.

2. Children of Men
My favorite cyberpunk-ish dystopian thriller. It has a lot of substance, excellent dialogue and characters (Jasper and Syd are some of my favorites, as well as Theo's excellent portrayal of burnt-out Theo regaining his fire after discovering Kee), one of the best long-take action sequences ever filmed, an excellent soundtrack and so much worldbuilding in the set details you kinda have to pause for the freeze-frame bonuses in just about every scene.

3. Idiocracy
My favorite comedic dystopia (as good as Brazil is, it's not nearly as funny). It gets even funnier when you realize things BRAWNDO- THE THIRST MUTILATOR are loaded with electrolytes- which include sodium- so they've basically been salting the earth with a Gatorade knockoff. I want a sequel called Idiocracy 2: Upgrayedd Now where Joe/Not Sure must attempt to win reelection against Upgrayedd who is not only smarter than Joe but a ruthless pimp.

4. Pineapple Express
My favorite stoner comedy ever. I don't even have to be stoned to watch it to LMAO at it so hard I wake the neighbors. Although it does make me wanna get stoned...
1756500849800.jpeg

5. Atomic Blonde
My favorite Charlize Theron action movie, yes, I like it even more than Fury Road. It's brutal, it has an amazing soundtrack and it kept me guessing as to who Satchel was until to the big reveal at the end. It's also based on the comic "The Coldest City" as well.

6. Bushwick
Still my favorite Second American Civil War movie ever, even after Alex Garland's excellent movie. It helps that soundtrack is composed by none other than Aesop Rock. It also helps that it's one of those "non-stop action thrill rides from start to finish", with hardly any downtime in between the first scene the horror-movie esque ending. Spoilers: mostly everyone dies.

7. Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas
My second favorite stoner comedy, and unlike Pineapple Express this one doesn't make me want to get stoned- it more reminds me of why you should never combine stimulants and psychedelics. Otherwise, you'll get to see Benicio Del Toro with snake eyes waving a gun in your face and ranting about the devil.

8. TIE - Zombieland and Zombieland 2: Double Tap
I like both of them about equally, and the sequel was IMO the best sequel we could've gotten to Zombieland. They are also legitimately good action horror movies, too.

9. The Suicide Squad (2021)
I really don't care for superheroes in general, regardless of the medium they appear in. I do, however, really like the ultra-gory Supervillian/Antihero action comedies that have become a thing as of late. This one is my favorite. Polka-Dot Man's insanity and Peacemaker and Bloodsport's constant rivalry and dick-measuring contests when fighting enemies, allies or each other are hilarious.
1756501950769.jpeg

10. Mad Max: Fury Road
The best Mad Max movie. I think most people agree with me.

Probably my ever favourite 80's actionner

I do not watch that many of movies, but I have seen a fair amount of them:

This is the end (2013): honestly very funny, I loved the chaotic harmony between the boys.

The Sam Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy: The thing that made me adore it is that the director showed some unexplored sides of being a hero, the unforeseen consequences of your actions and most importantly RESPONSIBILITY.

Home Alone 2: A good family-friendly film.

Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target (In other regions, the show is known as "Detective Conan"): I enjoyed my time a lot seeing it as a kid. I remember trying to solve the case before the... scary plot twists happen.

Eureka (2000)
Stalker (1979)
The Human Condition III (1961)
Woman in the Dunes (1964)
2001: Space Odyssey (1968)
Harakiri (1962)
There will be Blood (2007)
Mullholland Drive (2001)
Persona (1966)
Sansho the Bailiff (1954)
8½ (1963)
Taxi Driver (1976)
Tokyo Twilight (1957)
Come and See (1985)
Seven Samurai (1954)
Yi-Yi (2000)
Paris, Texas (1984)
Andrei Rublev (1966)
Hana-Bi (1997)

No Country For Old Men (2007)

Its a chilling western that deals with themes of nihilism, faith, chance encounters, circumstance, & existentialism. Even though I think the overall message is one of losing faith in the common man, it still resonates with me with the tension between how much influence or lack thereof you have on in the world. Brilliantly acted by a suburb cast with Tommy Lee Jones, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Woody Harrelson & Garret Dillahunt.

Zodiac (2007)

An amazing film follows cartoonist Robert Graysmith's obsession in to the Zodiac Killer case. Its a tale of parallels between the obsession from a serial killer sending meticulous letters in a cipher and the obsession from a "goody two shoe" trying to help the police solve the case. Its a period piece, a procedural police drama, and a cat & mouse game all wrapped in to one. Another brilliant film that deals with human nature, fear, obsession, anxiety of the unknown, idealism, the "hangover" of the summer of love & knowledge. Cast includes Jack Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr (pre-Iron Man!), John Carroll Lynch and Brian Cox.

There are plenty more movies I could go on about, but these two in particular I continue to rewatch one or each, once or twice a year. Both creep me out so maybe I need help lol
