What are the best movies you’ve ever seen?

My top 3 (in no particular order) are:
- Fantastic Mr Fox (2009)
- The Bad Guys (2022)
- Robin Hood (1973)

If you're noticing a pattern here I think it's just you.

9. The Suicide Squad (2021)
I really don't care for superheroes in general, regardless of the medium they appear in. I do, however, really like the ultra-gory Supervillian/Antihero action comedies that have become a thing as of late. This one is my favorite. Polka-Dot Man's insanity and Peacemaker and Bloodsport's constant rivalry and dick-measuring contests when fighting enemies, allies or each other are hilarious.
I just watched this finally and was so surprised by it.

I saw a review describe it as though it was a series of comics turned into a movie and that is a perfect way to describe it thanks to how it had little chapter intros to every next series of events.

It's maybe one of the very best comic movies ever??? James Gunn was so smart to make it as disconnected from the Zack Snyder series as possible so they could just throw it anywhere. Finally the movies are as messy and as confusing and as filled with as many tonal whiplashes as actual comic books.

Have you seen The Shawshank Redemption?
It was directed by the same guy who directed The Green Mile (Frank Darabont), and like The Green Mile, it is a film adaptation of a Stephen King story (Rita Hayworth & The Shawshank Redemption)

We really didn't get movies as soon as they were released. Being all the way in West Africa during the 90's, we'd get recorded ones only years later. By that time the hype was pretty much over in the West, but the West alone lol!
We'd have Corner or Ghetto cinemas; small shacks that would show popular movies starring actors like Jean-Claude Van Damme or Sylvester Stallone.
My favorite movie at the time was Bloodsport. I wasn't allowed to watch such flicks since i was still a kid, but i was too hype about martial arts and Van Damme to care.
Those ghetto cinemas have almost totally disappeared, but you can still find some in rural areas, like my hometown. Some folks are still stuck in the late 90's to early 2000s period. They prefer things that way; some admitted it made more sense than modern times as it required them to not think too much about how complicated times are now. I didn't really know how to feel about that, but i understood the sentiment.

Rainbow Rocks mentioned! ::fire

Off the top of my head a few that I really like:

A Night To Remember: In my opinion it's the best Titanic movie. It was made in 1958 so it was before the wreckage was discovered. It's a really well done film for the time.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles: Not only is it really funny. But John Candy's iconic character will hit you right in the kokoro

Die Hard: I don't care what anybody says. It's a Christmas movie!

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation: It's a Holliday must see.

Aliens: Get away from her you bitch!::angrygenjin

Terminator 2: It's the best Terminator movie. My mom took me to see it. I was blown away at how cool it was. I still am.

BEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN is Back to the Future (1985).

I feel like it's a bit of a boring choice, it's almost like saying your favorite character in Mario Kart is Mario.

To me it is just THE perfect adventure comedy movie. Does everything right from the action, to the music, to the effects, and even the plot and the characters. Just nails it.

A perfect storm of a movie where everyone involved managed to steer the ship clear from total destruction because if you look at the behind the scenes of it you can see that it was like on the verge of just falling apart throughout the entire process.
I would hardly call it a boring choice and I listed "Fight Club" and "Shawshank Redemption" in mine :P

As long as the film speaks to you personally, that's all that matters. If I'm being frank, I feel like BTTS 2&3 kind of lost what made the original so special

3. Idiocracy
My favorite comedic dystopia (as good as Brazil is, it's not nearly as funny). It gets even funnier when you realize things BRAWNDO- THE THIRST MUTILATOR are loaded with electrolytes- which include sodium- so they've basically been salting the earth with a Gatorade knockoff. I want a sequel called Idiocracy 2: Upgrayedd Now where Joe/Not Sure must attempt to win reelection against Upgrayedd who is not only smarter than Joe but a ruthless pimp.

5. Atomic Blonde
My favorite Charlize Theron action movie, yes, I like it even more than Fury Road. It's brutal, it has an amazing soundtrack and it kept me guessing as to who Satchel was until to the big reveal at the end. It's also based on the comic "The Coldest City" as well.

10. Mad Max: Fury Road
The best Mad Max movie. I think most people agree with me.

Idiocracy is one of those films, much like Blazing Saddles and Kung Pow: Enter The Fist where I watched so much of it that I kind of didn't want to watch it ever again. Then I did years later and it's still just as funny and startlingly accurate as it was when it came out

If you liked Atomic Blonde, I'd recommend Luc Beson's "La Femme Nikta" and "Leon The Professional", both are incredibly hard action movies and are some of the best out there even if Leon does delve into subject matter that I personally find uncomfortable

I was and still kind of am very obsessive about Fury Road, it is literally the most perfect movie imaginable. RLM did a great video comparing it to the original Road Warrior btw
