Weird, unsuccessful franchise reboots

At least it wasn't Beastroids where you can only look at the wasted talent with sadness, knowing the catgirl will never be in a Mega Man X9
Mega Man as a WHOLE is home to the saddest reboots. I love this series, but it still hasn’t recovered from the constant dropping of the ball it suffered in the 2010’s.

Really? Wasn't this game popular? I remember a lot of people talking about it when it came out...
Yeah like it wasn’t really that bad I thought the cast was pretty cute

It's not it wasn't popular, just that wasn't popular enough. SW was a massive franchise in Japan during the Saturn and early Dreamcast era but faded over time after Sega hopped off the console market and by the time SW 5 released, the franchise had lost a lot of steam.

I think Sega hoped that Shin Sakura Wars would bring new players but the people who mainly played it were old fans.

I liked it ?

Me too and even tried to platinum it before my PS4 died but I can't overlook the fact it needed more polish.

I still hope for a sequel or even a full series reboot.

What’s worse is, all these years later, it’s become clear that it wasn’t Microsoft who’s to blame for the dissolving of Rare’s talent. The studio itself made the poor choices that led them to where they are now.

It’s sad to know that nobody inside of Rare itself wanted to make more colorful platformers, because that’s really what their audience wanted from them, but it seems they weren’t all too interested in doing that.
Eh, I am not sure about that. Microsoft is known for being annoying to work with. Also rare isn't the only one that steady declined after being bought by microsoft. They literally managed to kill ensemble studios...

True. Not to mention the disastrous management of studios under them RIGHT NOW that have made this entire generation an embarrassment for them.

Breath of Fire V was so far removed from the series' roots that it might as well be a reboot and it was BAAAAAD. No wonder Capcom didn't give a damn about VI. They gave in to the mobile gaming hype and it's not like they were risking a still-breathing-good-franchise.
Nope dragon quarter is the best in the series

All of the might & magic titles from after the series was acquired by ubisoft make me so sad lmfao

I'm probably in the minority but I love Clash of Heroes (not as a Heroes game, as a creative match 3 game).

I also feel Heroes 5 is great if you play it with the fan made mod/rebalance (I know, I'm cheting here), and it's cool how they brought back Heroes from 3 and made them fit extras, plus improved a lot of the weak points of 5).

Aside from being Star Wars, which means it (at least in 2015) should automatically sell well, I think it’s safe to say that the new Battlefront games were kind of unsuccessful in the grand scheme of things, and even then I’m someone who likes them both (even though I’m not a huge SW fan).

The first one was marred with weird design decisions like vehicles and heroes being pickups so it has a weird arcadey feeling (and only being the original trilogy setting, which just seems like wasted opportunity). Like they wanted to make Star Wars Call of Duty on somewhat big maps.

The sequel fixed a billion issues with the core gameplay, but as we all know it had that horrendous P2W gacha system in the beginning, and even after they were forced to remove those, the game’s reputation was beyond saving, and support for the game was dropped super quick. Which isn’t something that should happen for a big budget Star Wars military shooter-style game. If they had played their cards right it could’ve been sustained for probably a decade, because the core gameplay is EXCELLENT. 2 is easily the best looking and feeling Star Wars game ever.

2 is still playable online and it’s still pretty fun and you always get games, but it’s one of those deals where the game’s ”meta” is solved and most people who played have maxed out their character cards so you’ll feel pretty weak compared to them unless you ignore it or muscle through it.
