Binary Domain's Hollow Children come to mind. These androids are so advanced, they're human in every way except when you tear them apart, to the point they fully believe themselves human until something catastrophic happens (two examples involving the face during the game), revealing their innards. Something of their make shouldn't be possible in the setting which kicks off the plot to apprehend their supposed creator in Japan.
