Water graphics in retro games?

The Labyrinth Zone in Sonic 1 for Japan has a cool effect when you're underwater, not sure why it was removed for the US (and maybe Europe too, idk)
What sound effect? i couldn't hear anything different between the Japanese and the American versions in terms of sound effects.

What about Wetrix on the N64? There’s water splashing about everywhere in that game.

Not really a major focus point in the game, but ICO and Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance had some nice water effects as a graphics showcase when they were in the scene.

It's a visual effect. Look at Labyrinth Zone when he's underwater
I don't see anything besides those little bubbles that appear which are also on the US version.

I'll be honest, I didn't even know it had water levels. This is the first time I've seen one.
Water levels are fairly common in Metroid games. Super Metroid's water level is a sunken space pirate ship.

I mean, fullscreen it or something? That's a little wave/ripple effect. Maybe easier to see on the blocks you have to jump over, but it's pretty clear to see. Idk man

Now i see it it's kind of hard to see due to Youtube's compression. Man you really had to be more specific. They probably removed it from the US version because they thought people would get sick or something from the effect.
