Valve increases price of Steamdeck 779€ 512gb / 919€ 1tb

I've grow disensitized to modern gaming. Modern games more often than not aren't worth their premium price. And I'm not going to fork however much the gaming industry wants me to pay for the chance to like them.

In general, the current wold has gone bananas, making unreasonable asks and thinking people will just cave in...

Gabe still racking up the Steam price empire

It's a hard sale indeed now especially as others here have pointed out, you may as well get to 1k in savings then buy a PC which can do all of what the Deck can do and out perform it at that despite not being a handheld.
To be fair... the Deck is way too big to be casually used on the go everywhere anyways.

Yeah I miss when portable gaming was actually portable.

Not only the systems would take advantage of the fact that you will carry the game with you, but the games where designed for a bus ride or to kill some times.

They talk about 'gaming on the go!' but just imagine taking you Steamdeck/switch out on the subway/bus. you will have to open you back pack, find a place with space to use, versus just using a Nintendo DS/PSP: take it out of your pocket.
That's the only portables I care about. There is not much point really in carrying a console slab with you, unless you go on a long trip. Games nowadays aren't, the large majority, designed for pickup and play.

Absolutely @Kovlak, I don't need what equates to a mini PC in my pocket.

For the longest time, I used a Raspberry Pi Zero slapped together with a Null 2 Kit (pics for reference) that I Built myself. I used that as my daily handheld emulator when on the go. Sadly, it died about a month before I bought the Smart Pro S, which is why I purchased it. The DIY one doesn't have a name, as I recall. Anyway, it was a fun piece of kit to whip out, play some GBA or similar games on, and toss back into your jeans pocket.

I forget where i got the Case for it from, so can't provide pic's of that, Sorry.

Looked good!

Thank god I managed to snag one. I was planning to grab the OLED and turn it into a Batocera Deck but... I think I'm good sticking with the one Steam Deck I have.

well it´s understandable and I don´t hold it against them I hold it against all the shitty AI centers.

But man this just means it will be even harder for me to get one. Would been so nice to own one and take it to the summer cabin to use on rainy dains :( Because on sunny days im to busy going on forest walks or fishing.

Makes me so glad I stuck with my LCD steamdeck and picked it up on the cheap.
Although I doubt Steam will learn a lesson about price hikes since the OLEDS still all sold out with the new price.
I hope to god its scalpers who are gonna get fucked holding the bag with overpriced stock that they can't move

It's not nice, but oh well, we'll survive it. I don't believe that these constant price increases will make such devices more attractive.
