PSP Thoughts on Crisis Core?

I understand your point @Tonberry, I think the story of Crisis Core is decent, I just think it's weak compared to the original FFVII and I don't like how Kingdom Hearts-esque the writing is.

Dirge of Cerberus is ass. Sorry dude 😔
i do not agree.
holy shit a time traveler!!!
i do not understand what this means, but i do agree with many of your points
i think there are some characters, such as angeal, that may be a little difficult to understand as they can appear incredibly irrational and unreasonable at times with their feelings, but as someone who has also viewed themselves as a monster (in my case due to substance abuse), i find his inner turmoil very human
:O that'd be cool to see!! I'm excited to play dirge even if I've heard mixed reviews. I just really like Vincent (I will be playing the undubed version because who in their right mind thought it was a good idea make Vincent sound like that)
please do not make fun. if you make fun i will accept it and continue on with my day.

Nomura's revenge quest to turn Final Fantasy into KH will never cease.

I thought his new VA was good imo, I don't have high hopes for dubs and from what I've seen he's pretty good.
I've never ever played any Final Fantasy in Japanese. Not sure why, but it's like I don't even know they exist, so it was probably more of an annoyance to me than to you. I rarely care about voice actors though, but he stood out to me.

Was just poking fun at the AMV comment as I didn't really think that was a thing anymore. Not knocking it, though! ::terriermon-happy

I just really like Vincent
Same here. Or used to, at least.
I did my FF7 journey backwards, in that I first saw the movie when it was new (I was like 12 or 13), then played Crisis Core, then finished FF7 for the first time as an adult (I almost finished it when I was like 16 though but the save got wiped when my PS3 died), so all I knew about Vincent was that I thought his design rocked.
I used him as my spellcaster for my full playthrough just because of how cool he was, but man I would have torn my hair out at how weirdly hidden and obtuse his "storyline" and obtaining his best weapon and stuff was if I had played that before internet guides were a thing. Just tucked in a corner like that.

Yuffie at least got a whole-ass island dedicated to her lol

I loved that!! I love seeing newer AMVs. Yours is very cool

Kingdom Hearts is the only Square Enix series that I literally don't care about, I care more about the SaGa series and the Front Mission series than Kingdom Hearts. ::linkmouthcover

I enjoy a lot of the japanese VAs for the characters rather than their english VAs. I'm really picky about character voices lol

I could not imagine trying to find Lucrecia's cave without a guide. I had to look up a video because the guide wasn't helping. I really like his story and his overall character though. I like vampire-esque guys

to be fair final fantasy x is an outrageously funny comedy with the english dub, so it is worth trying out that game in english too

Final Fantasy X is much better in Japanese.
You're probably right, but the English one is too carved into my brain, and I was a kid when I played it so I never noticed that it's chopped up and edited. Aside from the editing though I think the acting is more or less stellar.

I've only seen bits and pieces from the JP version, but I really hate Wakka's japanese voice. The guy is great and is in everything, but I don't think he fits Wakka at all, he sounds way too young for me. Yuna and Tidus are also better to me in English. I think it's because the characters looks so realistic, so I can't appreciate the (as it's what it sounds like to me because I'm from Japan) "anime" voices as much.
But I'm biased ofc, as I think James Arnold Taylor's Tidus is one of the best voice acting performances ever, just diluted by the choppy editing.

(Sorry OP for not talking about the correct game)

I'll never forgive Kingdom Hearts for starting all this crap about Cloud being emo, since it was the first Kingdom Hearts where they changed Cloud's personality and ended up damaging his reputation in the Final Fantasy fanbase, and this change ended up bleeding over into Advent Children, where Cloud's characterization is radically different compared to the original FFVII.

But he works a dead-end job AND has giga cancer!

(Though to be fair I kiiiiind of think it occurs in the original after he stops being a vegetable, but that it didn't convey very well with the little Lego characters and the wonky translation.)

God I hate Cloud's characterization in advent children. Why is he an absent father. On that note, why is Marlene with him and Tifa? Why can't Barret take care of her?

because then she wouldn't be a part of the movie. cloud is the focus so you have to be around him to be relevant.

Advent Children SUCKS!!!! Advent Children is a terrible movie! I HATE IT!!!!! RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!
i liked the fight scene with the big bahumt and sephiroth's heavy metal cover for one winged angel was good.
nothing else much good or interesting in the movie though.

Yeah, that does make sense though there isn't really a reason for her to be there in the first place
it was supposed to be a 20 minute short film that got expanded into a full length feature film. we should be surprised that it is coherent to any extent.

it is strange to me that fans of the character cloud strife do not seem comfortable with the idea of the character themselves changing or struggling with their circumstances
in the film advent children, cloud is going through a lot and suffering quite a bit physically and mentally, his behaviour in that movie isn't drastically out of character for him as far as the writing goes
his intentions are always good and throughout the film he tries to solve the problems present in the ways he deems most effective
i do not think advent children is particularly good, but this strange notion that cloud as a character is set in stone and cannot change in any respect after the events of final fantasy vii is strange to me

cloud was suffering from geostigma, did not want to expose his illness to his loved ones, and was looking for a cure

A good Prequel, fills some of the OG FF VII's plot holes (Granted, it also contraditcts itself) and bullcrap Slot Machine mechanic aside, the gameplay reminded me a lot to Xenoblade, not wheel reinventing good, but you can milk some fun if you come for the gameplay or for some more Zack

It's also better than Dirge of Cerebuzzz

i am happy gackt reprised his role in the hd remaster of the game
well, reprised in that they used his old voice work for the remaster
still a win in my book

I think it's a couple of things.

1. The statements in the ultimania that they portrayed him this way simply for it to be something the fans were more familiar with.
At the end of Final Fantasy VII, Cloud was more of a positive, upbeat character than he had been at the beginning, but I didn't think that "upbeat" image of him is what stuck in the minds of fans. We decided to go with a more familiar image that was consistent with the fans' view of him. The script was written to explain why he's returned to that sort of solemn mentality. (Tetsuya Nomura, Director.)

When you say something like this, there's gonna be some blowback. This perception of Cloud in that movie as being not genuine, and the rebellion against his personality there regardless of whether or not it can be justified, probably could have been avoided if that statement was never made. It's a pretty funny statement because it's nooot... really how Cloud ever is in the game.

2. Mental health awareness has progressed pretty far since AC came out. But at the time, it really just was that people liked to clown on any character that seemed depressed. A lot of what's repeated about him is just spawned from that tbh. Not to say that people who dislike AC Cloud hold that viewpoint, but that's a big root of the echoes reverberating throughout these digital halls...

Don't remember the next number, but a lot of Cloud's appearances kind of get muddled together in peoples' minds, regardless of what came first. KH, AC, Dissidia... these are all a brooding, unconfident, ahem, LOSER cloud. And peoples' opinions on this rendition of him just kind of bleed over from appearance to appearance. Personally, not my favorite kind of Cloud either. Dissidia should have had lowpoly snowboarding Cloud.

dissidia cloud was probably the closest to his original debut; since the characters barring the warrior of light, are pulled from a random point in their game's story. he acts kind of confused about who he is but accepts that things change over time and that you need to keep moving forward.
been a while since i played the game, but his issue was probably the easiest to solve in the game.
