This is why I don't bother with most professional reviewers; especially IGN

left a novel detailing my opinion on every aspect, but I dont got thoughts on my own?
No, that part you did fine. I'm more so talking about the "slop" part. You also explained it more and better than that IGN video ever could. I'm still interested in trying the game out at some point, but I got a busy schedule.

Thanks, but thats not what the reply said, either I dont have thoughts on my own or I do. I guess you couldve had a point if I didnt elaborate on why its got modernslop but I did

I forgot to mention its got the stamina bar. Dude they all have it. When you put it in a game like that it prevents it from getting too frenetic, and it makes the movement more shallow. It makes picking your fights and learning the enemies and the right distance between them less important, cause you can just dash; it lowers how much you can push the combat

Imagine if in Shadow Warrior, Lo Wang wasnt as fast and you have to wait before going at full speed cause it needs to recharge.
Kills the movement doesnt it? Maybe they're afraid of making it and enemies as frenetic cause the playtesters find it too hard. Or they think more mechanics means better gameplay

No they don't. Especially a lot of the old school style shooters. Be they first or third person. You must be really unlucky to keep encountering games that have stamina bar somewhere, or are only looking in the one direction.
  • Turbo Overkill
  • Evil West
  • Saleco
  • Zorthch
  • Gungrave GORE
  • a majority of the brawlers on the indies side.
  • Wizordom
  • Exophobia
  • Serious Sam 4 & Siberian Mayhem
  • Captain Wayne

You are welcome. When you're playing GORE, make sure it's either the ninth generation console versions or the latest update on PC/Steam. You'll thank me even more later.

I meant I played it man, I never expected Gungrave to get a sequel, its up there with Wanted Dead and as one of the better 3d action in the last couple years

I really liked how you get something unique if you clear every difficulty

By the way, GORE is getting a remake in the UE5.

I did not like WANTED DEAD. The game plays like a worse version of Ninja Gaiden II and No More Heroes. While only a slightly better polish than Devil's Third.

Whenever I hear that IGN is giving out a score lower than a 7 I pay attention, because that usually means the game is actually good imo.

You can't spell ignorant with IGN!

Mouse PI made a choice when going for boomer shooter, and not everyone likes those. I was actually thinking this the other day when seeing some gameplay. I thought "This actually would probably be a lot better if it was an adventure type game, with lots of dialogue like L.A. Noire."
Anyways there is not a single, unbiased, completely fair reviewer. It just doesn't exist.
In the old days it used to be expected that each reviewer in a mag or a website would have their own tastes and respond differently to different genres too.

Remember, it’s never “IGN”, it’s “IGNorance”

Yes, but the problem is that IGN is hating on the game for what is, and not whatever super specific idea the idiot imagined in his pea sized brain. If they wanted an adventure/noir type adventure game, a bunch of those already exist on the indie scene and Steam. You don't get mad or blame something for not living up to your impossible and imaginary expectations. Especially when the devs advertised completely what type of game they are making right from the start.

Also, the old days weren't perfect and had people that were full of shit back then, or fucking shills for specif magazine. Didn't matter if it was Nintendo Power, PlayStation Magazine, SEGA Magazine, etc. The only difference is they're much easier to spot or that people didn't pay enough attention back then.

The more I play, the more I agree with IGN's review of this game. Take away the aesthetic and you're left with a pretty underwhelming experience. I just finished up at Wallop Bay and there's not much keeping me coming back apart from its style.

While I definitely dislike IGN, I'm not sure they're any worse than any other mainstream reviewers for all forms of art. It's not exclusive to videogames, you can see plenty of examples throughout history of contemporary mainstream reviewers making incredibly bad-faith criticisms towards pieces of art that completely failed to meet the work on its own terms. I think the issue is that when you have people whose jobs are to consume media and are forced to play/read/watch/listen to stuff in genres they have no interest in and no knowledge of, it's only natural that you'll wind up seeing tons of incredibly bad and unfair reviews from major publications. I have genres I don't like, but because playing games isn't my job I'm free to just not play them, IGN reviewers (and people like them) don't have that luxury.

In an ideal world, a critic's job should be to properly figure out what kind of people a game is for and try to help those people find out about the game. Unfortunately, because of stupid number scores, mainstream critics have to boil down every game into a category of either "good" or "bad" despite art being a very subjective thing that can't be objectively rated like that. idk, maybe if there was a system where IGN reviewers could pass on games in genres they're not interested in and don't know anything about and hand over their responsibilities of reviewing it to someone who's actually qualified to talk about it, maybe things would be better and we could avoid situations like God Hand getting a 3/10, but I doubt that the people who run the company would ever allow that since all they really care about is having a number score next to a game when it releases rather than actually trying to help people make informed purchases.

Problem could be easily solved by finding someone who does or rotate between staff. Though again, while not the worst review, the main problem with this reviewer.Specifically, he was asking for a game that was never going to happen in the first place. And the game was us about what it was, and what it was always going to be. The developers never lied, nor made any false advertisements. It makes one wonder why does it even bother reviewing it in the first place. If that's the attitude, he was going with. Also IGN is known for hiring a well known plagiarist, and he had to get caught two times in order to be fired. They knew what he was doing. But only acted after the fact, and when a the person he plays your eyes called them out on it and had his video, prove as evidence.

I want these people in this industry to get better, but you have people at top who don't want that, or only want the shallow numbers for clicks. It's why most of them in this whole system can fuck off. The only major reviewers I trust are VGC and Easy Allies (formerly known as game trailers). While they have a score or star rating system, they actually go in depth with their reviews or have podcasts after the reviews to explain more details.

I am not posting the actual review, but IGN's review of Mouse PI is not the worst (God Hand and Double Dragon Neon reviews are much worse reviews from the site) in my opinion, but it's why I don't like a majority of these idiots. Long story short: the review of this game was pretty much hating/disliking it for the wrong reasons, and impossible/unrealistic expectations. He hates the game for not being serious, too cartoony (even though it's a throwback shooter with 1920s cartoon aesthetics), and for not "contemplating ones actions". In a fucking old-school style FPS. The closest I am going to get posting this review is MoistKritical's response/reaction.

I think it's reasonable to say game journalism is dead. And that no one with a functioning brain takes any of it seriously anymore.

And that no one with a functioning brain takes any of it seriously anymore.
I wouldn't go that far. In many circles, yes, but there are a few places where they either take them more seriously by comparison, or they try to give most of them a chance/benefit of a doubt. I get where some of these people are coming from, but one's who get upset at people for disliking game critics (even when it is reasonable) or being dismissive of the majority of them, does grind my gears. I understand giving people a chance, but at the same time, you [not you specifically, but I am the word you as an example] can't change/force opinion on people not liking critics, nor should you accuse them of "anti-journal rhetoric" because of a difference of opinion.

Then you have those who think YouTuber reviewers all automatically better, when most are just as shit, or only using "gaming reviews/gaming content" to make their own pathetic soap boxes or social/political agenda to hurt others who did nothing to them, and are minding their own business. They think they separate from the game journos, but with the way YouTube, they're in the same fucking system. Regardless if they know it or not. Some of them do, and try to take it to their advantage, but at some point, YT makes a new bullshit guideline or nonsensical rule change that hurts them and the grifters/scammer/schemers/bitches in box stands. The fuckwad execs at the top, don't even give a fuck about them. The execs just see them as another number, and some point, that livelihood of theirs will run out. One way, or the other.

I'm not that fan of the game but people should stop bothering with IGN.

You're literally playing as A. CARTOON. MOUSE.

I really don't see what's he's expecting. He probably hated Cuphead because "it's not realistic since coffee mugs aren't actually alive" or something.
