We love the X-Men Legends games, but the incessant cries of "COMBO, COMBO, COMBO" become tedious pretty quickly. We could mute the voices, but who wants to miss Magneto saying "Once again, I am victorious!"
The second game is less egregious than the first, but we are tempted to learn modding solely to strike this element from the game.

Has something like this happened for you?

Apologies if a thread like this already exists, we searched a few combinations of our keywords and couldn't turn anything up. This is also our first proper thread, hooray!

resident evil 7 is one of the best video games ever, but why it doesn't let you skip cutscenes is beyond me

I actually love that, makes X-Men Legends feel like a proper arcade game. Everything used to be loud and over the top in arcade games. Feels very nostalgic

Minigames tend to be an offender in many games I really like as they are sometimes poorly designed and also take you away from the type of gameplay you are playing the game for. Some of the ones in some Final Fantasy games are annoying, and I never liked the mating mini-game in Viva Pinata

I hated those Glitch mini-games in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart

I also hate when you play a game with lots of grinding to make your characters stronger, only to still have some enemy one shot you on the hardest difficulty (looking at you Dynasty Warriors 8 XL)

I also really hate it when a game has smart, aggressive enemy A.I. yet saddles you with passive, brain dead NPC allies. Like the game just makes it obvious at that point that it's screwing you

Kingdom Hearts 1 is one of my favourite games ever, but it is really annoying that you cannot skip cutscenes, at least not in Final Mix on PS2. Also, there is this weird 0.1s delay between landing on a platform and jumping again, never got used to it.
Any game that encourages replayability should have skippable cutscenes, at least on the second playthrough.
Gosh, that sentence had so many improper words... our English tutor would be ashamed of us. The things we do to seem relatable 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

This explains why the game felt sometimes awkward when it did platforming. I would've liked KH a bit better if it felt good...

In Phantasy Star Online your character automatically takes a "fighting stance" when you're near enemies, making you walk. most players know the technique of opening the shortcut menu or just the start menu to make your character run normally even near danger. The multi-hit ranger weapons (mechguns, shotgun) and the slicers have poor precision and a high miss rate in the early game, rendering them useless until the mid game and you have a "cooldown" after finishing the combo which makes the player vulnerable. Those weapons are much better in late game and HL when you get a massive Accuracy stat.

in many older Ys games you have to grind some levels to be able to do some damage to bosses (that won't require a full 20 minutes fight).

tetris worlds on consoles (not handheld) has a female whisper announcing the line clears
you just hear a female voice whisper "single..." on a one line clear over and over and it turned into a running joke for me and friends for a while. 4 players at once will CONSTANTLY trigger it,
here's a clip for reference (go to 6 minutes)

oh yeah THIS made me mad, the constant THATS GREAT absolutely ruins that mini game.
check out the last song on 4:30 for absolute annoyance.

Gran Turismo 4 Special Conditions races with the 5 second penalties when you hit the wall, hit your opponent, or your opponent hits you. This is especially obnoxious in Ice Arena with GT4's weird off-road handling model and just how damn tight that track is.

Oh, you have to complete the reverse variation as well.

wait what seriously? well that just killed me playing RE7, i already watched the whole game when my brother played it...
FF10 even the "remastered" versions can't skip cutscenes and holy god am i too impatient.
i haven't finished FF10 because i've had to start it over about 3 times and sitting through the pretty damn slow intro of that game sucks. i 'd say it's the worst FF storyline of the entire franchise...
but FF12 exists lol... (least that one has scene skip on remaster)

...wow am i glad i never played GT4
I absolutely love GT1,2,3, PSP GT, PS3 (Gt6), PS4(gt7) games. none of them have THAT kinda mode though!

you can definitely skip scenes on KH 1.5 collection versions btw.
going for the speedrun trophy pretty much required it

rubberbanding in racing games,
it's really annoying when it's done badly.
i was playing mario kart world with friends, none of us ever had a big lead on the AI racers they were always right on our asses or least one or two of them always were.
I kept getting 1st or 2nd, back and forth, cause AI is SO damn close they can and will easily pass you near the end of a race.
but that's not as bad as the newer ridge racer games, you will CONSTANTLY have AI slamming into your car's ass OR passing you with basically boost out of nowhere (ai does NOT need to charge their boost in RR PSP 1 and 2, or RR6 or 7) anything after R4 PS1 has stupid rubberbanding.
ridge racer 7 is practically impossible to 100%

Blazing Star on the Neo Geo. BONUS! BONUS! BONUS! BONUS! SHUT THE FUCK UP! I cant focus on the game cause of it.

Ridge Racer 7, Slip Streaming. Don't like that game play mechanic. Didn't play 6 to know if it was in there first. Rather if that shit was not in the game so you can just race and dodge around mother fuckers.

Unskipable cut scenes. That ruins Stellar Blade for me.

Those small exploding cars in SNES F-zero and the bombs in Maximum Velocity... way to reward skill (especially when the rubberbanding is harsh).

Love the Dragon Quest games, but man do they have some tedious elements, especially in the earlier titles. Played a bunch of the SNES version of DQ6, but eventually lost my mind at how slow and cumbersome getting through the menus is.

Open menu
Go to Spells
Pick character who has Heal spell
Select Heal spell
Select character to heal
Character is healed
Menus close
Repeat entire process 10-15 times

There is the Heal All option, but if you have a party member who has offensive spells and you want them to save MP for fights, tough luck, because who actually does the healing is out of your hands when you use Heal All.

The game looks amazing, sounds amazing, and is super charming, but man the menuing felt like death by a thousand cuts.

In SNK vs Capcom Card fighters clash SNK & Capcom ( playing recently Neo geo pocket games and this game is EXTREMLY UNDERRATED) :

I hate how the tournament becomes an RNG gauntlet . You earned the medals and collected good cards till suddenly in the tournament you play against 3 players that have decks with almost only high powered cards crushing your HP to 0 if you dont counter their cards right while you cant save between the matches .

And Yosiki who cloned my OP deck . What an unoriginal asshole that hides few S-tier cards for himself !

The grinding in LEGO Star Wars 2
We can't remember that, do you have to collect a certain amount of something? We were maybe 5 when we played this.

We gave up on those, big brother sweated through them while we did his homework for him lol

It's mostly QTE's even in some of my favorite games like Resident Evil 4 or Shenmue since I've never been a fan of them and don't enjoy them in most games barring few exceptions(like the older God of Wars).

Also love the first Thief game but I'm not a fan of the more adventure style levels as opposed to the stealth focused ones which I loved plus they also relied on zombies who I also wasn't a fan of as an enemy type either.

I like L.A. Noire since I'm a fan of the noir genre and a love many of the films they took inspiration from but was not a fan of it's interrogation system with the three options it gives you which are also quite misleading at times. The interactions themselves are good and I'm sure those who haven't played the game must have come across clips of some of the more hilarious ones from the game but the actual system for interrogating suspects left much to be desired.

If you want all the characters, extras and more you have to grind a lot. You can use codes to buy them for free but you still have to farm for extras (at least, getting all the gold bricks gives you a infinite stud font)
This is worse in the GBA port, since it doesn't have multiplicators and when you get more and more studs; you also lost more and more if you die (in example, if you get 1000 studs you lost like 100 or so at dying but if you have 50,000 or so you can lost like 10,000 or so at dying and you only can recover like 500 or so).
