悪魔城ドラキュラ・Super Castlevania IV

Ninja Warriors Again.
Surprised you didn't suggest "Undercover Cops", thought, I suppose the only way to play that is through the Japanese arcade, right?

Undercover Cops (SNES/SFC) is a good port of the arcade, but suffers a lot of similar issues most SNES brawlers have: only three enemies at a time, slow down in the more graphics heavy background animations (even with reduced animations) or super moves, and the lack of co-op. By 1995, co-op should have not been issue, as most brawlers on the system or Genesis especially, knew how to get it to work. To the port's credit, all the moves here, all three characters are playable, and no level has been removed. The port is much easier than the arcade game (unless on Hard, and then it's near impossible to beat) as well.

But yes, the Japanese Arcade version, or the US/World Alpha Renewal version are superior. You have co-op up to three players, and much more enemy on screen. The game is easy to emulate on MAME and to drag n' drop on emulation devices.

I chose Ninja Warriors Again, because while single player, it was built for the game in mind. You can have up to 4 or sometimes 5 enemies on screen. For a single plane brawler, all three characters actually have a bigger move set than nearly all of the brawlers on SNES and even beats SOR2 in this regard. Also, all three of the characters can block. This was rare in 2D brawlers, or you could only parry in Knights of the Round. The game while based off the arcade, is a completely new game and does its own thing, while only keeping the beginning and ending the same, but with much better translation of the story and lore.

Oh, you know what, that's right. It was stupid of me to suggest, because Undercover Cops is an Arcade port while Ninja Warriors is an exclusive SNES game, which is exactly what I wanted for the list. How silly of me. I just know that the English versions of Undercover Cops was censored with less moves, which I find to be absurd. Also, I remember it mostly for being mixed into the Power Glove song "Streets of 2043".

Yeah, only the original The Ninja Warriors is an Arcade port (and a slutty multi-platform game) while the 1994 Ninja Warriors is SNES exclusive (kind of like the difference between the original Final Fight/Golden Axe, and Final Fight/Golden Axe 2 & 3). I think I'm just so wowed by the later 2019 game that I keep forgetting the 94 actually looked like that. Feels like a more competent version of the Banpresto Mighty Morphing Power Rangers games (though, SNES MMPR:The Movie had a line system).

Take your pick. If you ask me I really love the series as a whole.

I'll remember this when we make it to the Playstation lists in, like, 2028 at this pace...
Sick art. But I'm still voting for the NTSC

Not to be overly officious or anything (especially since I really want more votes for the best Castlevania game) but you already suggested Sunset Riders, and both you and @Sanomoe already voted on @NeonKnights Castlevania nomination (don't worry, there won't be any division between the Japanese/American versions, it's all just going to be Castlevania IV no matter what) so this post won't be counted for Castlevania IV.

Also, @Sanomoe, you used a ::winkfelix to vote on @Stare best girl 's Front Mission: Gun Hazard post. I'm gonna count it, since I'm sure you intended to vote for it, but I would just like to remind people I'm only counting ::thumbsupwario ::fire ::heart as votes for a game.

I know, I know, I'm being fussy over all this, but I'd just though I'd remind everyone of my intentions. I hope more people vote for your Plok nomination, though, that game's audio design is pretty immaculate for an SNES game.

Yeah, it was for the sake of saying "nice candidate, but I won't be voting for the list". ::thumbsupwario

But I think it's better to abstain reacting unnecessarily, since I don't wanna stack up your job ::lurking

Fuck, bro, if I could paid for stuff like this...

But go ahead, stack up, I need as much input as possible to make this list legitimate.

That's fine, but you can vote for multiple candidates. So if you want to vote for both Gun Hazard and Castlevania IV AND Illusion of Gaia AND Ninja Warriors AND...uh...whatever else you voted on, then go for it. My only request is that people refrain from voting on the same game twice ( but if you do, I can easily tell, so I can make the call if I feel the need to strike it from the record or not).

But if you REALLY don't want to vote for Gun Hazard, I'm sure @Stare best girl will understand...

Surprisingly not the first suggestion, I was almost banking on this being the number 1 right out of the gate....

iu

I nominate Demon's Crest, it's like Castlevania and Megaman X had a baby that was also Spawn.
And if there's anything more pimp than the opening of Super Castlevania IV, it's this...
I SECOND THIS OMG

Aside from the bullshit final boss this game is one of the best pseudo-metroidvanias in a pre-symphony world I've ever played, It's like Zelda II but with more interesting level design and some p clever backtracking, not to mention having possibly the best art direction of the entire 4th generation.

As for my own pick, I'd say Turtles in Time!

More than any other beat em up I've played modern or retro this game has a perfect balance of pacing, variety, challenge AND accessibility, it's a must-play video game even if you're not typically into the genre!

My bad, I knew that was going to happen, I should of written "I prefer the NTSC box art." "Get's my vote." is an American expression.

"Get's my vote" is far from an exclusively American expression, but it's not like anybody did anything wrong. It isn't even about you specifically, just feel the need to clarify for the future incase someone gets pissed Castlevania IV didn't get more votes.

Besides, I greatly appreciate your entry. Not that I'm a huge fan of Sunset Riders, but you were nice enough to post it with pictures and gifs. Very eye catching.

Really I'm just hyped for the turnout this time around, I had to try 3 times to get the kind of attention and involvement I have this time around.

I'm very excited for the awards ceremony, you always have good ideas, I hope you're doing well.
