ALRIGHT!

About a month ago, I embarked on a quest to create a Top 10 list for every major game console using input from the illustrious members of the RetroGameTalk community. There's actually a rather lengthy backstory that begins with a thread by @Ognimod (which you can read here if you're interested) but what's important is that I eventually managed to cobble together enough of a satisfactory result to make my first list in the series.

Problem: I took too long...

I ended up getting distracted with several other projects, as well as being unable to decide upon a format or structure for the list. See, the main draw of this exercise was to compile a faux e-zine-like article using all of the lists. I just managed to finish the NES related images this morning, and am finally ready to move on to other consoles, with the general flow being that we'll codify everything Nintendo related up to the Switch, then move onto other companies like Sega, Sony, Microsoft (probably looping back to older stuff like Atari, Intellivision etc. when enough people complain about it). I had a bit of a debate with myself over how to continue, since the Game Boy released before the SNES, but I just said fuck it and we'll do the Game Boy stuff lated. I'm in the mood for some 16-bit shenanigans and I hope you'll all indulge me.

So, without further ado, here are the rules:
  1. We begin with preliminary nominee thread to weed out possible selections for our list (that's this thread)
  2. In the nominee thread, everyone suggests 1 game from the console library (In this case, that would be the SNES)
  3. The game must be exclusive to that system (we can fudge this for particularly unique or specific ports)
  4. You post you selection in the nominee thread and everyone votes on it using reactions
  5. The games witht the highest total reactions will make the final Top 10 list for that system
  6. Multiple users can nominate the same game, which will increase that game's overall score
  7. The nominees witht the highest score by the end of a week or so will be taken to a followup thread where we vote on their placing for the list
  8. Once everything is settled, I set to work making another page like the ones pictured above, and we move onto the next console
To keep things from getting muddled, while also not restricting people's posting habits:
Reactions that will count for score: ::thumbsupwario ::fire ::heart

Reactions that won't count for score:
::sadkirby ::winkfelix :loldog ::omgdoom ::angrygenjin

If any of this feels too complicated or uninteresting, I have a much simpler thread that you can contribute to.

Now, after a month of dicking around, let's get back to the The Officially Unofficial RGT Forums Best of the Best Game List for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System!

Chrono Trigger
Surprisingly not the first suggestion, I was almost banking on this being the number 1 right out of the gate....

I nominate Demon's Crest, it's like Castlevania and Megaman X had a baby that was also Spawn.
And if there's anything more pimp than the opening of Super Castlevania IV, it's this...

Thanks @x_lod , I miss when you were purple
I was very busy with my own video projects for my YouTube channel; my style is to record myself playing games, commenting on my experience, and various other things. And I'm on level 6, which you can see, right? And how were you? I enjoyed participating in the race with you.

Gotta ask though, what happens if you submit multiple games at once and that gets reactions? Do all of them make the list? Is that even allowed? How do you divvy it up?
Please keep it to one (1) game per customer.
This actually happened in the first NES thread, as @Disgaean suggested Gradius, Shatterhand and Metal Max in the same post, so I just asked them to pick their favourite (it was Metal Max)

However, multiple users can suggest the same game, which is almost encouraged.
For example:
User A nominates Megaman X and gets ::fire ::fire
User B nominates Bahamutt Lagoon and gets ::heart ::fire ::thumbsupwario
User C nominates Megaman X, again, and gets ::thumbsupwario ::fire

Bahamutt Lagoon has 3 points, while Megaman X has 5 (4 from accumulated reactions, plus 1 for being suggested more than once by a separate user)

I'm already aware that many users I've interacted with find this complicated, and I understand. But I'm just trying to find a way to officiate this without external sites, as well as in a manner I believe will achieve definitive results. As much as this all for fun, I'm still kinda hoping achieve something somewhat legitimate.

However, if you are finding this system too problematic (or simply can't decide on a single option) there is an alternative thread where you can just post your top 10 choices.

Yeah, I see, you and guys like @BrawlMan just whizzed right past little level 4 me, huh?
I'm fine, but I ended up working on too many things and not finishing any of them, so I felt I couldn't show my face around here until I at least finished my NES list that I promised a month ago.

The forum race was fun, I sure did like crashing a whole lot. I haven't seen anything about @JustLooking123 hosting another one of those, but it's likely I just missed it.

The news I can share is that I'm learning to cook; I just didn't know how to fry an egg. I'm learning to cook and fend for myself. My next step is learning how to make rice. I did a Monster Hunter gameplay video on my YouTube channel.I have a question, can I follow you?

That's life and don't feel ashamed about that. Do whatever works for you. I just like posting here or getting my thoughts out at times.

É a vida, e não se envergonhe disso. Faça o que funcionar para você. Eu só gosto de postar aqui ou compartilhar meus pensamentos de vez em quando.
I agree with you; you and I think alike. I no longer care about the opinions of others. I'm going to do what makes me happy, so what's your suggestion from the list? I suggested the sea and the other one.
