It's super hard to remember what the first game I ever played was but I'm almost certain it was Sonic The Hedgehog on a Genesis plug n' play. Sometime after I had messed around with the EyeToy on my mothers PS2 and I guess she figured me and my siblings should have our own system and we got another PS2 and some PS1 games alongside Devil May Cry, Sonic Mega Collection+ and my mom allowed us access to select games from her PS2 title collection after she got finished or bored with them. These were games like Virtua Fighter 4, Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, GTA3, GTA San Andreas, Pac Man World 2 and Red Faction. Soon after that me and my brother started watching X-play, noticing game advertisements and heard about games from kids at school and would beg our mom to buy them; I still own like 70 or so PS2 games from back then and I still have my hands on Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Ninja: Shadow of Darkness all for the PS1.

In the oldest and earliest recesses of my memory the earliest gaming related memory I have is playing Sonic the Hedgehog.

I can't be 100% sure, but I want to say it was Commander Keen on the kindergarten's PC. They had a random computer lying arround that me and a couple other kids would gather at. It had Wolfenstein 3D, Halloween Harry, Lion King, and the aforementioned kid astronaut in the yellow football helmet.

I mostly just watched the other kids play, but remember thinking Keen was so damned cool with the way he confidently smiled while flipping his thumb upon the start of a stage. His laser pistol was cool, and the way he got around on his pogo-stick (like a child) was cool and made him (somewhat) relatable. While it may sound morbid coming from a 6 year old, his death animation where he would bounce off screen was really amusing to me as well, because it was like his "left the game" and broke the 4th wall. Like whatever killed him hurt him SO badly it threw him out of his own reality!

For some reason I also found it cool that he was albino and had freckles xD ...what can I say? Everything about him was COOL!!!

...in fact, you could argue that Keen was my first "cosplay" as for a period I would walk around with my purple bicycle helmet everywhere to look like him.

My first game I remember play was on a java phone I don't remember at all but I can't forget Diamond Rush, otherwise this game born the same year I born, I played that when I has 4 years old.

But the first game I played in a console was Super Mario Bros 1 I remember also my cousin playing Kirby on NES the same day but I've don't play because I thought: "Pink is girls color so I don't will play, because I'm not a girl" and Kirby is pink, now one of my favorites games is Kirby Dream Land 3😂.
I also remember my friend and I playing TMNT for NES and has a versus mode in the game and I always choose shredder because of his attack, he punch very fast so I just spammed the attack button and I have win every match, now I understand his frustration, after I don't be able to attack the opponent in Street Fighter 3 I will never play this game in netplay anymore :ROFLMAO:

Lemmings on the ZX Spectrum, either that or Oh Mummy. My dad had picked one up at a car boot sale with like 40 tapes of games, I always liked those two the most along with Double Dragon and The Saboteur.

Pac-Man,when i was a Little toddler without knowledge that the good pac could eat the ghosts AFTER gobbling the power pill, not before.

I also don't know exactly anymore, but I got my first Game & Watch console Manhole, guess that was my first game I played.

I also had this TVG-10, although another version, it was a small black & white TV, and it came with 2 controllers and a cable which you plugged into the side of the TV and you had 10 games, like Pong games.

I also played Asteroids on an Arcade cabinet, oh boy, was that exciting

I ”played” Rad Racer and Megaman 1 with my aunt when I was like 3.
The quotes are because I learned much later that, just like many others, I had been bamboozled and was using a disconnected controller, while SHE was the one doing the playing!!

Mine was Super Mario Bros. for NES, when I was barely old enough to sit up on my own.
My parents put a Nintendo controller in my hands, and then that became my life for over 30 years; the rest is history.

This is so hard to answer because it was a million years ago. I'd die to know what was the first game I played!...we'll never know the answer to that 🥲
I had a "famiclone" pretty early, so it was most likely Super Mario Bros. (this one..)

I also have vivid memories of playing these titles:
  • Adventure Island 1 and 2
  • Elevator Action
  • Road Fighter
  • City Connection
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Monster in My Pocket
  • Dick Tracy
  • Mappy
  • Formula 1 Sensation

My niece on the other hand I can tell you exactly what was the first game she played.
She was born in 2020, at age 3 without knowing what a console was or how to work a stick she picked up my always dusty Wii U and got into Super Mario 3D world...

At first she tried to use it as a tablet (the only thing she knew) after explaining to her she was supposed to use physical controls she started trying to move the character, it took her weeks of every day practice but she can now play the game.
She also played Super Mario kart 8 and sometimes, she isn't even the last one...this is incredible to me. She has no concept of winning or losing, she would randomly stop racing to admire the cows crossing the streets or to say hi to the NPC mushrooms spectating on the side of the road.

She's now WAY into Yoshi Woolly World, she can actually finish levels and see secrets I don't even notice (remember she's 3 years old!) but she does get scared of enemies and hand over the console to me to take care of them, I explained to her they can't harm her but she's still not sure.

I'm convinced that by age 5 she would master any game I can throw at her (maybe I'm ruining her life idk lol)

What about you guys?
earliest i can go back is a tweety bird game on my brothers gameboy i think? I also remember here in Australia we have foxtel which i guess is the equivalent of american cable tv and there was a channel (555 i think) where you could play a bunch of games with the tv remote i remember there being a tom and jerry game and a codename kids next door game.

I remember playing a game called "Tank 1990" or "Battle City" and "Road Fighter." They were really fun!

When I was a kid living in rural Southeast Asia, I didn't have access to the popular video games that others played. However, my dad gave me my first (bootleg) NES, which had a collection of 10,000 games in 1. I thought it was the coolest thing ever! 😂

What the devil..?
I couldnt figure out videogames until 6!!

My brother had a Sega Genesis so he got me into playing sonic 3 before buying the lock-on extension to it. One of the reasons I like many games is because of him.

Probably one of these two, as I recall them being one of my first memories. I probably have more attachments to the Nintendogs games, since when I got the 3DS (that still works!) I got the new Nintendogs. Man, simpler times.
