Silver lining: hopefully some of my local retailers may follow suit and heavily discount some Xbox stuff. Could do with a 2nd controller

Conker, Banjo and Country!DK are avenging from the Grave their fallen series

Joking aside, They are finally getting the consecuences of their fuck ups, showing that to punish big companies we need to just... not giving them our money, their axing of companies especially the almost death of Hi-fi Rush even when it brough them lots of monies

I guess Sony next
Sony's output is just as bad but somehow they still making a lot of money. I know a lot of Xbox loyalist have jumped ship and moved to Playstation. There's still a lot of people out there that refuse to play games on PC and want a console.
Watching people praise the crash of one of their primary hobbies sure is interesting xD
Microsoft has been fuckin' up for years now, it's been a long time coming. It's just nice to see them finally paying for the consequences of their actions.

My reasoning for ages was that consoles were a lot cheaper and more convenient. Those things are getting less and less true :loldog

same, I was a console guy for the longest time. When the PS5/Series X came a long I just didn't see the need to update based on how few modern games I was playing. I also needed a new computer at the time so I just combined the money into one to get a PC powerful enough to play new games.

Microsoft isn't even trying anymore. That's what's happening. They're putting the brand in Limbo, and they knew that they couldn't compete with the competition, so they're making efforts in an attempt to discontinue the brand so that it's resources can be put into whatever else they're wokring on. Eventually, Xbox will just be seen as a Windows-exclusive thing and not something that can be both Windows and itself.

Not nearly as true as people like to pretend. I just built a new PC about three months ago and it cost me over $3,000 for modern hardware that wasn't even top of the line, and it STILL Can't play a lot of modern games at max setting because of how terribly optimized video games now are. A new console is literally 1/5th of that cost though they still struggle to perform for a lot of releases.

Which is why some people here are like, "Yeah, next sony!' Let's praise the death of two of the big three... while the most anti-consumer of the bunch is allowed to truck along like nothing is wrong xD (Nintendo)

How has Microsoft been 'Fucking up?' by trying a new business strategy with Gamepass? One that is... actually the best deal that gamer's have seen in a very long time? I don't even have a modern Xbox or gamepass, but it is a hell of a deal for the more casual crowd.

If you mean they are fucking up because of their lack of quality exclusives, it's hard to argue there... but The AAA space in general isn't putting out nearly as much as they used too.

I agree the industry needs a shakeup, but competition is ultimately GOOD for the industry, so Xbox (Sony's only real competition since Nintendo sort of plays on its own field) going away completely is bad for everyone in the long term. It's very short sighted to be happy about its failure.

Ha ha even Costco doesn't love Xbox! I also thought M$ was done with console wars when they tried to turn Xbox into a service with the "This is an Xbox" Campaign.

For gaming to become great again the industry will have to die and then be reborn with lessons learned. Not that it will ever happen.

Gaming is still great, just different. There are factually more games available now then there ever have been before and that will always be true. You will NEVER be able to play all the great games ever made in one lifetime.

He said it and it happened. From the irrelevance of Halo, to Gears losing relevance, to the cancellation of a bunch of first-party games that people waited years for (Scalebound, Phantom Dust, Perfect Dark, Everwild, Contraband), to their inability to create new IP that could replace Halo and Gears once they started to lose relevance, Xbox has made so many mistakes.

This is why I'm not convinced that Xbox will be successful as a third-party publisher going forward. Hardware wasn't the issue. Series S and X are good pieces of hardware. It was always the software. Microsoft has been, for the most part, not a great steward of the massive catalog of IP that they own with the single exception that is Forza Horizon. And to be honest, Forza Horizon's getting a bit long in the tooth going into the 6th game in the franchise.

Ok. $3000 is way above my personal price range ::sailor-embarrassed I should clarify that my price range for a PC is about on par with the PS5 Pro. So, consoles are becoming less of a cheaper option for me

You've got a point there. You can still find a gem every now and then. The part about there being more games made than I can play in a lifetime? Also true. Hunkering down on old platforms is what I do.

That probably about how much I paid for mine, but I haven't had any performance issues. Then again I'm not playing these big budget games on day one. Also it's not fair to directly compare. You have to remember you're not just getting a little box for games, you're getting a whole ass PC.

I agree with most of what you said. I don't want Xbox to completely go away, it's just the only thing that ever gets through as a lesson to these big companies is a drop in revenue. I honestly hope they can bounce back but it's not looking likely.
