The Café -- General Off-Topic Chat (AKA: Let's Break The Ice)

I was watching the review of a VERY old survival kit and I couldn't help but marvelling at how they handled water: a 14oz metal can that you were supposed to poke holes in and then reseal with chewing gum to conserve the rest as soon as you finished one cup or whatever.

I'm guessing they were expecting nuclear war or something, working on the assumption that normal water would be rendered undrinkable.

Very interesting stuff.

Today I had another crying spell, blaming myself the whole time, but it's over now. I'm very emotionally fragile; sometimes I hear things and scenarios in my head.

Which survival kit was it? I know there was a bunch of Y2K survival kits that did the rounds in the late 90s as the "millenium bug" started to rear its head.

I'd be interested in taking a look at some of the survival kits at some point, but I also know that a lot of the Y2K kits were basically a box with a book, two flashlights and some dehydrated potato powder inside lmao

I played that some years ago but not get very far. A English or spanish translation could be great.

Joguei esse jogo há alguns anos, mas não cheguei muito longe. Uma tradução para inglês ou espanhol seria ótima.
Well, I completely agree, it would be great if they included fan-made music.I like this rhythm game.

Sometimes the city In where I live reminds me of Los Santos from GTA. Because have a similar vibe. With exception of beaches and gang wars, there are the poor places and the rich places. The rich places reminds me of Downtown Los Santos, Rodeo and Vinewood and the poor places reminds me of Ganton, Idlewood, Little Mexico, etc.

Here you go:

It's not set in stone (hell, I don't even know if I QUALIFY), but I have been thinking long and hard about joining med school and train to become a certified nurse.

While I do believe that teaching is my true calling, I have been taking care of sick relatives for a really long time. Plus, I see caring for the sick and the wounded as part of my religious duty as well.

I hope I can do it... But if not, I will still do whatever I can to help those who need it.

WOAH, THIS IS EXactly like my old Coffee Shop-

noice.

So now I've beaten Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and Parasite Eve in Spanish. I started IX this week. IX has always been my least favorite of the PS1 FFs because the setting and overall story just doesn't intrigue me as much. But man going into it right after VIII is very refreshing in a lot of ways. The general presentation in terms of stuff like the UI and text boxes and even the font is SO nice. There are hidden goodies all over the map and screens too. It's a joy walking around all the nooks and spaces and getting rewarded.

Going through all the old Square stuff from this period again has been amazing. After IX I have PE2 and Tactics lined up. I haven't looked for a Vagrant Story translation yet but if there is one that's on the horizon too.

There's someone on my neighborhood that had been a complete jackass for a really long time, always having something to say about the state of my lawn, how I park my car, how much noise my damn kids make (!), and I had always tried to be the bigger person, because raising hell and sinking to that level wasn't something I was interested in doing... Until a few weeks ago, when the comments got a little too sharp, then I unloaded on him.

Result? Now he (literally) crosses the street running whenever he sees me coming.

LOL! Get bent XD

Well... there's a saying here @Waffles hun....
I don't know if you have the same where you are, but it goes

"Don't let your mouth write checks your ass can't cash"

More or less, it boils down to, don't yell at, argue with, or threaten people unless you can throw down and are able and willing to back it up.

And seems he wasn't
So, good on'ya

I love it!

I'm not exactly a pacifist (hell, I'm armed ALL THE TIME), but yeah... Wouldn't start a war just for fireworks.
