Switch 2

The release is so close so prepare for S2 instead.
Yup, I was saving for a ps5 but if I think about it, I really only want it for 2 games (Silent Hill 2 and Spider-Man 2)
So I think I'll go for the switch 2 instead, I really want to try all the new Mario/Zelda/Metroid entries that came to the switch 1

Time will tell. I am thinking that Prime 4 will be the flagship launch title. Given the amount of hype and the ambiguous teasers. People want Prime 4 to drop like a bomb and that's the way to do it. And with full backwards compatibility it would be a waste from the business perspective to short sell the new product by making it available on the old one.
And you cant compare all the WiiU-->Switch1 games because there isn't backwards comparability.
Except you still can. Breath of the Wild released on Wii U and Switch day 1. Twilight Princess also released on Wii and GameCube. They could easily release Prime 4 on Switch 1 and 2. It's something Nintendo has done before with big games that got held back to the launch of new consoles. With backwards compatibility we could ask if Nintendo is going to launch 2 versions or 1 version with Switch 2 enhancements.

I will almost certainly be picking one up, mostly because I trust there will be a portable Monster Hunter title released on it but also because I just really want to play that new Mario Kart and inevitable 3D Mario platformer that's coming.

so who's excited for the Nintendo Switch 2 & For the New Mario Kart

Wait. That's a new Mario Kart? I genuinely thought it was just 8, possibly with a content expansion. Guess I must've missed the announcement. If anything I'm glad they're finally making a new one, as 8 was by far the longest running game. I also think the Switch 2 is cool. The hardware upgrade seems substanntial enough to get good graphics and performance for a while, but I wish it was as small as the OG Switch, or as the PS Vita. Still, maybe we could get a smaller, cheaper option in the form of a "lite" edition like with the OG in 2019.

Pretty excited! Wonder when it'll launch, some people seem to think around June/ July due to the 'hands on' event ending around then. Keen to see the launch window games and how they'll handle cross gen titles like Metroid Prime 4 and other titles like Pkmn Legends ZA - I hope at the very least they get some kind of enhanced mode when used on the Switch 2...

Most of what I play are indie titles with SNES graphics, but it would be nice with hardware that can actually render the eShop without choking...?

I'm also very curious about how it will handle Age of Calamity and other titles that are bordering on unplayable as they are. I was hoping they would release it in time for Xenoblade Chronicles X, but alas, no such luck.

Have they actually, formally announced Mario Kart 9, yet? That footage they showed in the trailer just seemed like it could have been a demo animation thrown together with stock assets.

When will they start announcing games? I have a feeling Metaphor: ReFantazio will be a Switch 2 title since it wasn't released on the Switch in October.
I assume no one is allowed to announce Switch 2 stuff until Nintendo's official presentation on April 2nd. Expect tons of games from then on out though!

Nobody knows yet whether it's a new Mario Kart or just a port of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but the new Donkey Kong design seems to confirm that it's a new Mario Kart, even if the look is very similar to Mario Kart 8.

That was 100% MK9, for better or worse.

I'm not a huge Switch fan but I like how convenient it is and how everything got ported to it. If the Switch 2 continues that trend, improves the joy cons, and has decent online, I'll probably pick one up eventually.

you guys thing the mig switch thing will still work or will Nintendo patch it like nintendo did the early R4 cards for the 3ds?
As long as Nintendo plans to allow Physical Cartridges to be used offline, it is very likely to work. As it stands, fully dumped cartridges are identical to the real thing. Ninty would have to force everyone using it on a Switch 2 to stay online and verify the Cartridge every 5-10 minutes.

I'm so behind on Nintendo Switch 1st party titles that unless Splatoon 4 is exclusive to Switch 2 hardware, I really don't see why I shouldn't just spend that 400 to 500 USD on more Switch 1 games.
