The long awaited hack that meshes Metroid Fusion and Super Metroid utilizing the latter as an engine, possibly creating the best version of the former.
I went into the lava room in sector 3 PYR and it glitched out the HUD
Seems like it would have been promising, I'll have to restart in another emu and see if it will bug out again
I got the grapple and having it assigned a designated button is a nice touch
this is not a casual game i repeat this is not casual game even in easy or super difficulty you wont survive unless you know the trick for that game and also the game have strange/odd placement for items i see well they want you to enjoy this extreme game.
I thought super zero mission was brutal hard at some points and I have been playing this game for many years
I finished it, so I'll see if the same challenge awaits
Finally learned how to use Mockball, thanks (or no thanks) to this hack. Turns out the issue was I wasn't HOLDING the jump button, as soon as I did, got it first try. I still don't care for having to learn tricks like this for one damn tank in this hack, or the trickery with Speed booster (Iykyk), but I suppose it's not the first time a metroid game had weird tricks the game doesn't tell you (Ballspark in Zero Mission & the Power bomb rocket in Samus Returns).
Honestly, though, aside from that little niggle (and the damage scaling issues others have mentioned), I think this is still a solid hack for how ambitious it was. If there's one thing that messed with me though, is getting used to the gameplay of Super with the fusion coat of paint. That really threw me for a loop, trying to get my body to unlearn Fusion muscle memory. There were other quirks, namely with the way enemies and bosses move, like those purple thwomp-esque things in NOC, slamming down the moment you're in their line of sight, with barely time to react. In fact, the bulk of X-Fusion's enemies felt REALLY fast, The core-X's especially. If you've played Fusion and Super, there was a certain rhythm and fluidity to how enemies interacted with you: in Super the enemies came at you fast, but you could respond just as fast; from what I recall, dodging was awkward, but you generally just blasted (usually freezing) whatever was in your way. In Fusion, there was a... low gravity-esque feel to the gameplay that allowed you to anticipate your enemy's movement and dodge accordingly (the battle with Nightmare I believe being the best example of that). With X-fusion, I think the transition of the Fusion enemies to Super made their movement patterns... weird, such as the Core-x's barreling right into you with no time to react, which works for Super's game feel, but they have lengthy I-frames that make dodging funky. I think the custom bosses are the best in terms of feel, because they were designed with the hack in mind and work to it's strengths.
As I said previously though, It's still a solid hack, and I've had a lot of fun playing through it. I still haven't 100% it yet (though I'm close) or even touched hard mode yet, but it was good nontheless.
...It's really strange to say I enjoyed it after all that complaining, it makes me sound as though I'm coping REALLY hard.
Update 2: I finally beat the game the other night. The final area(s) can be absolutely RAGE inducing! But, that being said, it felt incredibly rewarding to actually finish it, as I was definitely the sort of person this hack was design for... and I will be replaying it again sometime in the future, AND recommending it to a particular friend of mine as well..
The primary thing I hold against it is the extreme linearity overall (but then again, so was the original Metroid Fusion)...
Secondly, as many others have said: Damage values need to be tweaked here & there (mainly the ice parasites)...
Third, most the dialogue scenes are a little cheesy, often to the point of being just stupid...
And finally, the chase sequence near the end requires some insane, near frame-perfect movement patterns in order to make it through..
Yeah, Sector-X is... something else. I certainly like the idea of it, but good god is it trying to take the piss out of you at some points. Same with the Ending Sequence, just... It's downright Profane. Insanely cathartic at the same time though.
I was actually having a lot of fun with this (on Normal) until I got to Sector 6..
Those indestructible ice parasites that take your heath to <10 hp NO MATTER WHAT are just stupid!!
Update: I finally got past them and beat the Varia suit boss (tip: Grappling Beam & then Charge beams all-day), and now I can just consume those bastards like any other X-parasite.. They're still stupid-unfair until then, and NEED to be toned down..

You're right, but even on easy the damage is way off base compared to Fusion. I know it's not meant to be a 1:1 recreation, but there's no reasonable explanation for basic enemies to do so much damage.
Jeez this game didn't had to be this hard, I am a super casual player, I like a good challenge but not the artificial challenge that this hack provides, it isn't that hard to think about casual players of the community and add a difficulty to them yet the creator of this hack couldn't care less, I want on Reddit to ask why it had to be this hard because it was hiding it's potential to the Metroid community on general and they just started to say that it was skill issue or that the game isn't made for people like me so they don't care, well idk but that's very stupid
Awesome. I use OpenEmu on my macbook, so i can't wait to see your box art so i can use it for the game in my library. I know the emulator is old but for me, its works best for retro games

It's not difficult, it's unfair, and if you're not halfway to be a speedrunner, it becomes a frustrating experience. It's the same phenomenon that happens with those who make Dark Souls mods and GIT GUD: 40 enemies that kill you instantly in a 2x2 space doesn't make it a challenge, it makes it unbearable.
Honestly that's the reason why I almost never play Metroid hacks outside of vanilla plus; there seems to be a lot of elitism going on in the scene. That said, Fusion holds a special place in my heart, and I'd been waiting a long time for this one. I certainly wish hack authors were more cognizant about being inclusive when it comes to difficulty.
This has always been my problem with Super Metroid and ALttP hacks--they're generally designed by and catered to the upper echelon of players whereas I'm just a filthy casual who just wants a vanilla-esque experience.|
tl;dr I suck at vidya
Anyone who plans to play this hack needs to understand that it's designed and tested by masochists who've spent 40,000 hours playing Super Metroid and nothing else.
On a technical level, it's a marvel; on a design level, it leaves a lot to be desired. The first two hours are wonderful; after that, the clown fest begins.

That said, I hope the creators play other Metroidvanias to broaden their creative horizons, or at the very least take a game design class. There's a lot of potential here.
Also, getting the Ice Missiles without going to the generator shouldn't yield a softlock. It's thanks to that you can get out of both big shafts in Sector 5.
Mh... Then, I guess it would be or my luck or my skill, because I wasn't able to go back to keep exploring after getting it (I don't remember that well anyways, I may try it again once I beat the rom in normal mode)
Most of the situations where I got stuck was something like "You got X before doing Y", for example, getting the Ice Missile before turning the auxiliary power on, finding and falling in certain place before... Let die? Killing all the plants? Dunno why I was unable to keep advancing, but the roots blocked my way, so, I guess is because that...? And I don't remember exactly well, but I got stuck in a part where you really need the power grip to get out. I already have the Ice Missile, the speed booster, but I'm unable to locate the power grip. (I don't want to be told where it is, I prefer to get stuck searching.)
Wait, Power Grip? I think you meant Grappling Beam.

Wait... did you got locked somewhere? Because when you do certain sequence breaks, it makes the game easier in some points, due to certain flags being lifted.
