TNG is one of the best adaptations of the series. I can see why it's so widely beloved by fans. I will say the first season is kind of slow to get going, but once it picks up it's loads of fun to watch.Absolutely love Star Trek. I've been a fan since I was a kid. TNG and Voyager are my favorites of the bunch. Too bad the new Star Trek series is an absolute garbage fire. Oh well, can't all be as good as TNG, I suppose. And I'm really surprised this thread wasn't locked...
Damn it, Jim, I'm a doctor, not a necromancer.

Seems to me you're a little of both, Bones."Damn it, Jim. I'm a Doctor, not a Necromancer."
I wouldn't say they need to completely canceled. They need restructuring, though. They need to go back and see what made older treks so rewatchable and work on fixing their mistakes. I feel it still has great potential, they're just under terrible management currently.Star Trek needs to be cancelled to save the IP.

Indeed.TNG is one of the best adaptations of the series. I can see why it's so widely beloved by fans. I will say the first season is kind of slow to get going, but once it picks up it's loads of fun to watch.
I can see why Voyager was disliked, honestly. I actually didn't like it on the first go, but when I gave it a real sit-down and watched it, I actually liked it. Also, Seven of Nine might have influenced my caring a little at the time.I hear loads of people complain about Voyager online. Mostly because of how most episodes are one and done stories, instead of each episode being tied together. I don't have a problem with it myself, I think the series is a good time. It has a lot of good two-part episodes that make up for some of the others.
I understand ya. Kim wasn't so bad in my eyes.. it was Neelix and that assinine doctor I couldn't stand.I will say there are a couple episodes, though, that I have a hard time sitting through. One is pretty obvious "Threshold" The other one I have a hard time sitting through is "Non Sequitur" as I never found Harry Kim centric episodes that engaging.
I don't mean this as a political statement, but they worry too much... like most companies now about attracting new fans who honestly won't care about the I.P. and alienate the old fans who do.I totally agree with you about most modern Trek being a dumpster fire. It's a shame. I think the creators now have lost sight of the vision Rodenberry had in mind, because none of the newer series hold a candle to the older series in terms of story, characters, etc.
Fair point.I was surprised to see it wasn't locked either.
I figured reviving this thread would be better than making a duplicate similar thread, though.
DAMMIT!Seems to me you're a little of both, Bones.
Data was probably the most Fun character on TNG.
Yeah, they really need to go back to TNG or even DS9 writers. Fire whoever is involved with writing and producing the IP now, and give it a full reboot back to the way it was, closer to Gene Roddenberry's original vision. Not the slop it has been for the last few seriesI wouldn't say they need to completely canceled. They need restructuring, though. They need to go back and see what made older treks so rewatchable and work on fixing their mistakes. I feel it still has great potential, they're just under terrible management currently.
I don't mind self-contained episodes, I'm used to them in ToS.I hear loads of people complain about Voyager online. Mostly because of how most episodes are one and done stories, instead of each episode being tied together. I don't have a problem with it myself, I think the series is a good time. It has a lot of good two-part episodes that make up for some of the others.
Yep.. especially regarding the optimistic future aspect.I think the creators now have lost sight of the vision Rodenberry had in mind, because none of the newer series hold a candle to the older series in terms of story, characters, etc.
