Splatoon is now 10 years old!

The first Splatoon game on Wii U was released in May 28th, 2015. The series is now 10 years old today. Happy 10th anniversary to Nintendo's biggest IP. What were your fondest memories of the Splatoon series thus far?

Often it feels like time is just accelerating exponentially and a decade is just a blink of an eye but somehow 10 years seems like an appropriate time since this released.

I remember playing it at a friend’s house cause I didn’t have a Wii U. It was magical! A good mix-up of the TPS genre. Give what shit you will about Nintendo and their greedy, fan-repellent business strategies. They KNOW how to make a game.

God I'm old.
Great games, played both two & three. Frustratingly a month before the end of each games splatfest/updates. Still had lots of fun regardless of the limited support.

Which will happen again with 4 as I'm not touching the Switch 2 for a long while. Not with that atrocious price point and the fact the physical cartridges hold no game data.
If ever a Nintendo game needed a Steam port its Splatoon.

I never played any Splatoon game but I always enjoy people play it on streams ^-^ the game's concept and art is what I adore from it. And trust me when I say I draw lots and lots inkling and octoling inspired character because of this game

Never played this series since I didn't have a Switch. But I always thought it looked cool from a gameplay perspective. As someone who plans to either pick up the third game or wait for a new one for the Switch 2, is the game still accessible for newbies or will I just get my ass handed to me by veterans?
Also, how is the cheating situation? I'm assuming its uncommon on Nintendo online games?

Anyway, the Wii U's failure and the 3DS not reaching the same popularity as the DS were why they had to make a new console even if it's the same generation.

In fact generations have a bit lost of its meaning considering the technical gap becoming thinner.

Splatoon was so fucking good. Me and my little brother played it for hours on end. I played Splatoon 2 way less but I still enjoyed it, never bought Splatoon 3 because it released at an awkward time for me. I hope it's a series that keeps on thriving.

The setting and attitude and music is so good. It always gave me feelings similar to JSR. So full of personality.

As a person who's been a big fan of the series for since 2015 I do think it is quite accessible for new players. The biggest difficulty wall you might face is the gyro aiming the game has, there is stick controls but it has no aim assist so it feels very rough and it puts you at a natural disadvantage. It does has a fun single-player campaign that is useful to get used to how the game controls.

Splatoon 2 and 3 do not have much of a cheating problem as not many people want to risk a whole console ban, and the methods to cheat is gate kept very well. Splatoon 1 before Nintendo network shut down (and even pretendo) has terrible anticheat lol.

Eh, when you see Cyberpunk 2077 on the base Xbox One and PlayStation 4 there's something absolutely wrong that has happened. In general most games were optional but it was clear that some would get a better experience with these refresh.

The DSi also had some exclusives (either DSiWare or those games requiring the use of the camera) but these were only a few.

Anyway, the Wii U's commercial failure was the main reason why they had to urgently make that new console in the same gen (although a gen is barely a conventional thing since the games of the early PS360 and late PS360 were almost like a full gen of difference).



Anyway, back to Splatoon: the series had an inspiration from Mario Sunshine?
