Soundtrack Greats (or the best complete OST full albums)

I think this is the best track in the entire MMZ series. It has a vibe that other tracks can't replicate.

The composer knocked it out of the park with this one. The entire KF4 OST is fantastic and the title theme stands out, leaves a strong impression when you boot the game for the first time.

This track is very relaxing for me. I can always count on it to chill out and relax.

This one is also one of my favorite songs too.

Ooh, gonna start with motivation theme

Donk City ya know

Tu tu tuuu tututuuuuuuuuuu

PEPSIMANNNNNNNNNNN

This game was the first I experienced with a truly sublime soundtrack. It made me a believer in the artistic potential of video games. What's particularly outstanding about this soundtrack is that it was so varied and emotive while using SNES tech. It took full advantage of the midi instrumentation support available to the SNES sound chip.

Merged @Yousef thread with this one we already had on the same subject! ;D

Taking this opportunity, I want to make a comment on The Last of Us OST. I know it's a title that most of people must be tired of, because it can be sometimes overrated in some of its aspects, but I want to invite anyone who didn't play it to give a chance for these tracks.

I've heard some comments saying that "modern games" music isn't interesting anymore, that they are just "ambience sound", but I believe it just shows the lack of attention or some sort of "bad faith" from the listener. The point is that music in some of these modern games are more contextual, instead of being always repeating in a background no matter what is happening. Anyway, here as some of them:

Now, this is my favorite. "The Way It Was". Without any spoilers, this is a song that plays in one moment only through the whole story, in-game, during a very intimous conversation. This music is completely broken: the melody direction, the piano timbres, the harmony... it just hurts.

After I finished TLoU, one of the first things I needed to do was to look for more of Gustavo Santaolalla's work. He did music for all the classic Alejandro González Iñárritu films, and the atmosphere of them owns a lot to Santaolalla. If you for some reason listened to the tracks above and wanted to play TLoU but hasn't how to do it and enjoy watching movies, I'd recommend you to listen to these tracks: from Biutiful, from Babel or from Motocycle Diaries, and choose a film based on them.

king of fighters 96 for the ps1. why? aside for being a game, you can actually play the disc on any cd player and you can listen to the game's whole soundtrack and the music are amazing. makes you wanna workout.
one of my favorites:

Oh man, there are so many soundtracks I enjoy! Where do I even start?

Castlevania III, specifically the original Japanese music:
Mega Man 3:
Street Fighter III 3rd Strike:
Darius Gaiden:
Teleroboxer:

I'm honestly surprised that falcom hasn't shown up in this list yet, since i consider their music as arguably the best in video games, so i'll post a few tracks from a few games, just be aware this post might have alot of videos because it's very difficult to keep it short, i will try to keep it to 1 song per game but i might have to increase it to 2 for some just because some are THAT good, i will keep it to 1 track as much as possible, even though each could have 10-20 tracks on their own without a doubt.

Ys 8 - Unquestionably my favorite game of all time, a spot held by phantasy star 4 for over 20 years, this is also one of the few games where i can say every track is amazing, and probably my favorite soundtrack of all time, i'm adding 2 tracks to this.

Sunshine coastline, usually considered the first major track in the game.

Everlasting Transeunt - The credits theme.

---
Ys the oath of felghana, a remake of ys 3 made in i believe 2006, quite legendary for it's soundtrack on it's own.

Valestein Castle, probably the most known track from the game, though like ys 8, it's a amazing soundtrack all around.

---
Ys Origin, considered a prequel to the ys series proper, it is known for it's well done soundtrack as well.

Genesis Beyond the Beginning - intro theme.

---
Ys I and II Chronicles - Technically this song is from a 1990 game, but a upgraded remake also updated the soundtrack with modern instruments, making a legendary track, again the soundtrack in general is amazing.

To Make the End of Battle - Intro Theme.

---
The Legend of Heroes Trails to Azure - A good game, the music is for the most part very good.

The Azure Arbitrator - Final Boss theme, normally i'd select a different track as there's plenty but this is honestly one of the best final boss themes from falcom and in gaming history imo so i have to post this one specifically.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8CmfRgxvVQ

---
The Legend of Heroes - Trails of cold steel III - A good game in the anthology but i prefer the 4th game and reverie more, it's music however is amazing, some carries over into the 4th game.

Spiral of Erebos - A intro and the final dungeon theme, like the azure arbitrator above it's too good to not post.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHvnwxAg5ww

---
The Legend of Heroes Trails of Cold Steel 4 -The End of Saga- - Probably my favorite "Trails" game (currently at 13 games), and it's soundtrack is amazing as well, here are 2 of my favorites.

Lyrical Amber - A town theme, and a beautiful one at that.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VekMorjnRuk

Mystic Core (sen Ver.)This is a dungeon theme, it's also kind of a cheat as this is a remix of a theme by the same name in Trails to Azure, but i like the Cold Steel 4 version a bit more.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amIW1m9MlDI

I should point out that Cold steel 4's final boss themes are also some of my favorites in the series, but i decided to limit myself to 1 final boss or final dungeon them for the trails series of games.

---
Zwei! - A quirky game that has beautiful music in it's own right.

Final Battle ~Demon Lord Vesper~ As the name suggests, it's the final boss theme, however the track is far too amazing to not mention, as anyone who knows how great celtic style music is will attest.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTqwGW5ZKYc

And since i haven't mentioned too many that were before 2000 (not that there aren't plenty, it's just if i posted all the good ones i'd be here for a week):

---
The Legend of Xanadu - This game has not been translated into english so i have little to say about the game or music's position itself, so i'll just post it.

Legend of the Wind - Supposedly a intro theme, a great theme nonetheless.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9433h1EeqcQ

Let me be clear i could post a thousand more, but i just wanted to show how underrated nihon falcom jdk band is.

If someone posts something else, i'll post after them games not by falcom lol.

Sadly because of site limits, the others have to be links.

So gonna post 3 games, 2 with 2 videos, the third with one and don't worry, no falcom this time, as i said that company's work speaks for itself.

Vampire survivors - I honestly don't think i should even bother explaining it, the game's dirt cheap on steam, and it's music is worthy of awards, while being one of the most famous games of all time in alot of ways for just how both simplistic and addicting it is, obvious castlevania references abound.

Tides of the Foscari - This is the orchestral version of The main theme from the tides of foscari dlc, normally i'd select one from the game (and there are tons) but this is at the moment the only orchestral one so yeah.

This is a remix of a song from the ode to castlevania dlc that came out on halloween, speaks for itself.
Bloody Tears ~Vampire Survivors Remix~

---

Snatcher - Cult classic adventure game made by the well known hideo kojima, this track is amazing just because of that epic sax.
One Night in Neo Kobe City

---

Wild Arms, a sadly dead series thanks to sony (though the creator is making a spiritual successor that got kickstarted about a year ago), a RPG based in the wild west, truly one of the most underrated series of the ps1 and ps2 era, has a ton of amazing music.

Wild Arms 1 Intro - The full intro because it just feels right to.

Flying in the Midst of the Storm - A more or less cutscene them, but amazing on it's own.
