had it as a kid, was kinda forced to like it as i didn't have much other games to play at that time.

Music is quite good, ambiance too, very dark for a sonic game.

The gameplay... meh.

they could have done so much better with this actually as sonic is capable of running and jumping like in any platformer.

About Sonic Heroes on another topic:
I wish there was a new hack that could try fixing the "slipperiness" and make it so you'll only have to do the game with Team Sonic to be able to access the Final Episode (since Team Rose is basically Tutorial/Easy Mode, Team Dark is Hard Mode and Team Chaotix is Mission Mode).

I think that Team Sonic and Team Rose should be the only ones available, beating with Team Rose would only allow for Final Episode to be open while Team Sonic and/or Final Episode would unlock Team Dark and beating it with them (or Final Episode) unlocks Team Chaotix as a hidden Team not shown on the menu.

So much of that! Team Rose should have had less levels (or just the "Act 1" of each world), Team Dark should've done the level in reverse order since you start in one of Eggman's base to finally finish with an exclusive boss and Team Chaotix should've started in the more urban areas and slowly gone through the more natural looking levels.

Hey all! I found a very old Sonic fansite. It's from the very end of the Saturn era in the US. Most of its pages are still up!
Here is a link to the website!

I remembered about Sonic Fan Remix (which is sadly cancelled)

I kinda liked it back then but the colours are really washed out.

Not Sonic itself but one of the best Sonic-inspired game got a mod released

Sometimes I jokingly say that Freedom Planet is the best Sonic game ever released.

Now that Sonic Frontiers Definitive Edition is being hinted I still wish they made the colours less dim in this game.

If DE looks anything like the screenshot you’re posting, I’d definitely be onboard. Alongside some quality of life addons too. We’ll wait and see.

Sonic for the mastersystem better then the megadrive version.
Less speed more platforming also the bonus levels where more fun.
And finding all the diamonds for the good ending more or less like castle of illusion and moonwalker i likes the 8 bit versions more then the 16 bit brothers.

You know... I kind of agree with this take, plus the music... come on, Bridge Zone? Jungle Zone... even the Special Zone has banging tracks. *claps* I like this ngl.

Speed isn't the DNA of the series? More platforming was mostly due to technical limitations.

Maybe so but they made a banger of a game with it solid platformer on all levels.

Opened my copy of sonic origins plus for the switch last night love the booklet and the box sleeve you can reverse to look like a mega drive cover. Have to enter the code to get the game gear games.

Adventure and Classic are the two that are truly Sonic. I tried playing Unleashed and hated the controls and the constant need to boost. Why is the homing attack a separate button from jump?!!

If 'Chaotix' wasn't trying to melt your eyes off, I'd consider it an underrated classic.

I've never played Chaotix and not overwhelmingly thought "What the actual fuck is this?" The game is clearly unfinished and the central gimmick it's built around is a complete mess that causes cascading issues with the gameplay and level design that I don't think could've been fixed even if it had actually been finished. These issues completely overwhelm all the cool little details that I do really like about the game - things like almost every character having a unique alternative to the standard rolling animation. I love stuff like that. It's just a pity that game has completely incoherent level design and weird physics that punish you for trying to treat it like a Sonic game or really any kind of platformer that expects you to do platforming.

Granted, for as much as I'm trashing the ring tethering, if Mania had more dev time they'd definitely have included a Chaotix mode and I would've been all over that shit.

I think the core issue is that the level designers were told to prepare stuff for a Sonic game and the game designers made... Anything but.

The Boost gameplay requires to get used to it a bit but I kinda agree about the separate homing button when air boosting is a thing.
