Even if the general opinion is that MKW is not as solid as 8
You should say 8 Deluxe.

People often forget that the MK8 we have today is vastly different from the original Wii U release. It has basically been rebalanced and sold again on the next hardware with the DLCs included and almost every tracks from every previous entries in the end of its life.

It reminds me of Ultra Street Fighter IV vs Street Fighter V's roster at launch or even SF V's last update vs launch SF VI.

This.

Want more sales? Lower the price, 70$ is insanity for a racing game. And add more cute girls like Miku, or someone wants sales like in chinese gachas while giving us Eggman and Steve 😭
Or just that Sega should stop ignoring their older fans.

Phantasy Star, Shining Force, Bonanza Bros, Alex Kidd, Chuchu Rocket and others should have seen a chance to be in CW.

Also I don't like how the roster is technically incomplete at launch, they could've implemented Nights and Miku at launch...

I figured people knew what I meant, is anyone out there comparing MKW to a Wii U game? ::cirnoshrug
My bad.

Anyway, in my humble opinion I think MKW should've had 100% original tracks and 0 retro ones to show how it's a renewal of the franchise (also I don't like mixing old and new tracks in cups personally).

As for Sonic CrossWorlds I am not that fan of SpongeBob and TMNT in it. Keeping videogame focused with Pac-Man and Megaman would've made more sense...

I miss the times when crossovers seemed impossible across the board.

It's still a great game but maybe pricing the game at $70 wasn't such a great idea.

I personally think branding it as a Sonic game is a weaker move than branding it a Sega Allstars game
Agreed. Sonic, for whatever Sega or the Sonic fanbase think, has a general low quality stigma. The Sega name itself has a lot more good will, especially with how nostalgic people are for stuff like the Dreamcast, etc these days, and would've made a lot more sense as a marketing push.

Maybe they thought the Sonic movies being popular would drive more sales. Who knows.

The spotty track record (ahem) for Sonic spinoffs continues to hound them. We've been burned across the genre landscape, from Sonic Labyrinth to Sonic Shuffle. Buyers aren't going to forgive so easily.

Ichiban being playable made me curious enough to try the demo, but while I enjoyed it, learning he wasn't voiced didn't help win me over to actually buy it.
I'll most likely be getting it on a decent sale sometime in the future though.

Maybe if Sega didn't price their latest Sonic games so damn high they likely would've sold more. CTR Nitro Fueled was $40 USD ($80 NZD, Im from NZ) and that sold like hotcakes. Racing Crossworlds is like $127 NZD here.

My personal opinion on hearing this news is that Sega must have had VERY unrealistic expectations. Mario Kart is basically the only kart racer people can and will enjoy. Even Air Rider can be hit or miss (although Air RIDERS might have improved it. Can't say because I haven't gotten it yet.)

There's also the fact that everything is super expensive and a lot of people are definitely going with the safe option of buying Mario Kart World (because they know they'll like it) rather than experiment with Crossworlds (which costs the same with the DLC.) I don't think games should have more content based in the price, because a low priced game can have more content than a high priced game, but again, everything is expensive and every single penny counts.

I do wanna get MKW, Air Riders, and Crossworlds but I can't do it all at the same time. I also want to focus on getting fun multiplayer games that my family can enjoy and I just know that Mario Kart World or even a Mario Party is more worth my money than Crossworlds in that sense. Although, maybe with my friends, I could enjoy Crossworlds.

I assume they spent a lot of money securing deals with all those other companies expecting big returns from Minecraft kiddies because 1 mil in a year seems like pretty standard numbers for this series. I don't really have a horse in this race so this is funny to me fuck both this game and that 80 dollar mario kart

What did they expect when they sold it at $90 CAD 😂😂😂 that was ridiculous for a racing game. Sega has no idea what they're doing with pricing right now.

ngl, I didn't care for this because I have very little care for Sonic. If it was like Sonic and Sega all stars racing where they had more characters then it might be something that caught my eye.

wonder if they will give Miku her P4D outfit

While I'm glad to see the Babylon Trio the game had little to nothing with Riders...

I will echo the sentiment that in the minds of the better majority of consumers Sonic = a bad video game. Maybe it should have been branded as Sega Cross Worlds Racing? Also, far too expensive for me, as I typically dislike Mario Kart games due to the excessive focus on weapons and AI abuse of that in single player. (never play online, hate playing with online gamers and dealing with meta game nonsense)

According to SEGA, Sonic Racing CrossWorlds sold over 1 million units worldwide and garnered positive feedback, but the game failed to meet their initial sales expectations. SEGA says they are aiming to sell another 1 million units with ongoing DLC.

Sega, how much did you spend on this game?

I really hate the "failed to meet expectations" mantra, because that usually means the game didn't make all the money in the universe. I still haven't bought the game yet, because i'm on a budget. I highly doubt the DLC is going to do much to fix this. I am pretty much only gonna get this game on a sale, and when most of the dlc comes out. This is why the $70 price tag is not feasible in this economy. Either tone down the budgets on these games or start going for a lower price at the start. Preferably both.

Well, here's hoping it works out for them. They built the game around on going content/season passes so perhaps that will drive them to their financial finish line.

Despite the sorta "redemption arc" the franchise got I think the scars of games such as Sonic 2006 are still visible to the non-fans (maybe the "recolor OC do not steal" have faded out of memory to people).

Maybe it should have been branded as Sega Cross Worlds Racing?
Not just the brand but the roster as well.

Aside from the fans I think that most characters outside of Sonic/Shadow/Tails/Knuckles/Amy/Eggman are basically just nobodies... Who actually remember that the Chaotix are from a 32-X exclusive game?

Also, far too expensive for me.
Especially for a digital game on Steam.

Agreed, even if the gameplay is more energetic than Mario Kart it's still an item based racer.

Sega's F-zero is the best example of a skillfull racing game.

They built the game around on going content/season passes so perhaps that will drive them to their financial finish line.
I personally dislike that kind of marketing and mindset. Kirby Air Riders came out as a single package racing game with the complete roster without any DLC and it's a breath of fresh air in this epoch.

I really need to tackle the 8-bits games, the Neo Geo pocket one as well as the Storybook on the Wii.

I used to replay Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 yearly but I think I became bored of always playing them. I still tried to play SA2 then SA1 and even the Dark Story before Hero at some point.

I am gonna completely guess the lyrics to the Sonic Heroes main theme by memory, its been years and probably forgotten half of it, so here goes, no cheating now.

What comes up
must come down
if my feet don't touch the ground???
forgot
forgot
.................without a sound
I can feel your every rage
step inside another page????
breaking through the crazy face???
Like a laser beam my eyes on yoooou

watch me throw the night away
watch me
save the day
feel my storm is getting close???
heading your waaay.

Sonic Heroes
(Sonic Heroes)
The games kinda mid
and the models look shiiiiit

Sonic Heroes
(Sonic Heroes)
forgotten the next part
and dont give shiiiit.

Gay trio Sonic pose.
Song ends.

I made a SEGA playlist on Youtube that has all the Sonic goodness in it, if anyone wants to check it out.
