"Big the Cat rules"

Damn, this thread had no chance of being anything but troll bait lol

(Vector is lit, tho ::flexing)
Haha. I recently went back and played some Sonic Adventure and thought, you know... if they kept the exact same graphics and story, you could even keep the overworld, but throw out everything else and remake it, it would be wonderful. Except for Big's stages. Leave them as is because he rules.

I liked Sonic Adventure a lot on launch day, but even then you could see areas for improvement. Also, the hot/cold levels in any game are a crime but I remember them being really nasty in these.

I had a similar experience when I replayed Sonic Adventure as an adult. What really hit me was how godawful the camera is. Somehow, I completely blocked that from my mind or just tolerated it as a kid because that shit is heinous.

I really don't mind Big as a character, I just wish he had as much character development in the games as he does in the comics. His fishing levels are ass, tho, I'm dying on that hill.

You guys are going to hate for this, but I did not enjoy "Sonic Adventure 2." The ONLY fun levels in that whole game are the Sonic/Shadow stages. They did a great job bringing the fast-paced action of the Genesis games into a 3D world and almost every stage introduced a new concept; like the Lightspeed Dash returning from "SA1" or grinding on rails.

The mech shooting and emerald hunting levels, which WERE fun in the first game, have been significantly butchered in "SA2". Tails/Eggman aren't nearly as fast as Gamma, the high pitched "BEEEEEEEEEEEP" sound when locking onto enemies is annoying, precision platforming (even with the hover powerup) can be irritating at times, and mowing down enemies isn't nearly as satisfying as it was in "SA1". It was fun to zoom through a level as Gamma, shoot like 7 enemies and get a 30 second time bonus. I don't feel ANYTHING when playing "SA2's" mech stages other a desire to shut the game off and play something else.

As for the emerald hunting stages, my grievanes with these in "SA2" are broken down into 3 categories: unnecessary spacious level designs that don't seem to be built around Knuckles/Rouge's abilities, gimped radar and hint systems. The ONLY stage I liked was "Pumpkin Hill" (No, not the music. Not a huge fan of rap music.) because it's built around Knuckles' ability to glide as well as digging; kinda like Red Mountain in "SA1". But every level after that is just a disjointed mess that makes me question if the designers even played "SA1" before designing these. Plus, I think Knuckles moves a bit TOO fast for my liking and it doesn't feel conducive to his level design. The hint system in "SA2" is WAY more cryptic (especially in "Mad Space" where they REVERSE THE HINT MESSAGES!! Like... Do they just WANT me to hate this game?). In the first game, they were much easier to figure out and sometimes Tikal would literally point you in the direction at which an emerald shard was located. Because of this, the "SA1" stages never really took an absurdly long time to beat. But in the 2nd game, be prepared to spend a good twenty minutes looking for a shard because the hint system is fucking terrible now. To make matters worse, instead of the radar detecting all 3 shards like in the first game, it only detects ONE shard at a time. And the game wants you to find them in a specific order (for some ungodly reason). Because of this, there WILL be times where you find a shard but it's not the one game wants you to grab just yet (Brilliant design, Sonic Team!🙃).

The boss fights are a mixed bag. Some of them are fun to fight—like the pyramid golem and the final Sonic/Shadow boss on Space Colony ARK. But everything else ranges from tedious to just plain aggravating (looking at YOU, Tails/Eggman!).

Why Mega Collection is in the It's bad category?

Sonic 2 > sonic 3 > sonic adventure 1/2 > sonic mania > sonic 1 > the rest

So, I was the perfect age to get screwed over by Sonic’s merch. The Jazwares run ended right as I got into the series, and they were best stocked in Toys R Us stores, which were falling out of prominence and weren’t super near me. As such, I didn’t have many of the Jazwares figures, though I did have a couple and loved the ones I had (I’m so happy younger me got that Super Pack. The prices went up CRAZY on that thing). Unfortunately, things got worse, as the prices on even older figures went up to insane heights not long after. My dreams of owning Resaurus or any other figures for that matter were out the window.

I kept with plushes. I prefer plushes, really. But, in the back of my heart, I always wanted some Sonic figures. Small guys, ones who could easily fit on a desk. I also wished for variety, something that the older toy lines lacked. Jazwares was legendary at the time because they dared to do the impossible: give us more than just five characters. All I wanted was a cheap, obtainable, and varied figure line. I knew that was asking for a lot though, and as the 2010’s went on to be one of Sonic’s least prominent decades, it felt as though that dream would never become a reality.

Then Jakks Pacific came in. Their 2.5 inch line was varied, cheap, and everything I had ever wanted. It was a slow burn, but eventually I hopped in, right or around the time I turned 18. I was too old at that point to grow up with these figures, but I felt a couple wouldn’t hurt to have as a shelf piece.

So, uh, I live near a Walmart that has a lot of character variety, and I may have gotten “just a little here and there” a lot over the past four years.

I used to have more. I sold most of my 4 inch figures, because I genuinely don’t like most of them. I find them to be big, pricey, and I realized I was only spending my hard earned cash on them because they were characters I was excited to see ANY figure for (Cream, Rouge, Infinite, Blaze, Omega, etc.)

I’ll probably sell even more in the future. I love Modern Sonic and the cast it has, but I don’t know why: the classic figures make me more excited. All the badniks? That’s a childhood dream right there! Silver Sonic? Heck yeah, that’s awesome! The animal buddies? That’s so stupid, of course I’m down! And of course, big classic characters that never got merch before get me all kinds of excited. Fang, Mighty, Ray… these were all pipe dreams when I was a kid. These characters were forgotten, dismissed, and disused. Nobody wants Fang because his Superstars boss sucks? That’s okay, I’ll take ‘em.

Again, I’ll probably liquidate at some point and focus in on the classic line. I love some of the modern and movie figures though, so it’ll be hard to part with some of them. I just hope that I can keep these so that any future child of mine will have an awesome childhood (if they even end up liking Sonic, of course.)

I'm bad at making tierlists but I would dare putting Freedom Planet and Spark the Electric Jester in the S+ tier above every Sonic games.

Oh definitely, I would put FP2 and Spark 3 on the very top and the others on A minimum, just amazing games all around.

You really just wanted to watch the forum explode, huh?

One thing I learned from early childhood: be very careful when talking about Sonic online.

That said:
If none of you want your copy of Rush Adventure, that’s fine, I’ll take them all. I really like that game.

SRB2 is also quite top tier but should fangames and mods/romhack count in the list?

I mean P-06, 3D Blast DX fixed many issues and Sonic 3 Complete basically enhanced Sonic 3&K (which was already great) into an even higher plane.

I could even put Sonic Classic Heroes, Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic CD Miracle Edition, Sonic 2 Absolute and Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited in the S tier above their original counterparts.

I'm only adding games I actually played and ignoring fan games and compilations, I'll make a list for the fangames some other time.
