Done Some custom emojis/reaction symbols to liked posts/threads

Maybe using some pixel art, a little bit more akin to the site's theme, would be a good idea? Really not sure if that'd be possible, since custom-made art can be expensive. But it'd be a welcome addition.

I don't like the current icon for the like: it looks like anything, but a hand. I like the suggestion by Glimbo more. If I had to suggest something, it would be the victory pose from "Metal Slug", although it looks more like a laugh.

"The Binding of Isaac" is from 2011. Isn't that enough to make it the sad reaction?

The only "angry" thing related with video games that comes to my mind is The Angry Video Game Nerd, but well, he is not a video game.

I gave animating it a shot. Took longer than expected because I had to redo the edited ears. How's it look?

Since the fire reaction is animated, the dog looks better (= consistent) animated as well, since it comes from a game where it was precisely animated.

I don't think we should highlight controversial stuff like that. We are a discussion board at the end of the day, so I'd rather we talked it out.

I might have said this somewhere already, but I think there's severe repercussions for having a dislike button, and while I understand that negativity has to exist as a counter-force to positivity, it just doesn't make good for a forum or online social setting to have people going around Disliking things.

Yes, I agree completely.

In fact, I was already seeing a couple of instances where the dislike button had replaced actual conversation and even seemed targeted at someone who had already voiced a perfectly normal (if heated) opinion.

I really would rather we stay as far away from the Reddit mentality as possible... and as Mr Gaines said at the end of "Accepted":

"We aren't like that, and I'm damn proud of that fact".

I think its speed is a bit too much, despite it's more like the original this way, but if it's always active in posts, it would be a bit distracting...

Dislike emoji is rarely used, maybe sad emoji would be enough?

I think their meanings are not very clear, especially when resized to 32x32.

Very cute, but maybe needs a bit edit? tears are not very visible.

I tried increasing the delay between frames. The first version I did was 100ms.

I didn't actually mind, but it was kinda annoying.

if there was something like disagree, it could be useful for opinions or polls. but dislike is a bit strong and can be misinterpreted. Some emoji that made it clear it was directed at an opinion and not at a person. Like a "not sure" emoji or something like that.

Honestly it's not clear that she's laughing, it's more like she's saying "shhhh...", maybe animating it makes it more clear, but still i think it's a bit vague... and we should fit it in 32x32 too!

I think LOL, Sad, OMG, and Now I'm Mad can cover a lot of use cases of dislike or disagree... but just my opinion.

Marle is fine, but I think it’s a bit hard to read since it’s such a narrow/slender sprite. But that’s just my preference in general regardless of sprite!

Why not crop the legs out?

I tried. It will still be too tall (20 pixels). Reactions need to be 32x32 so it's still not good for doubling. Non-integer scaling should be avoided on pixels this small because it will distort the image.
This was after some manual correction too.
