Since The dreamcast was one of the most underrated consoles of the sixth gen, how many still own the dreamcast and still play games well.

Mine broke years back so I just play on an emulator now, given the price of retro games I made the right choice.

I'm gonna play some damn Dreamcast tonight, actually. Via Redream lol. Was looking for a console the other day amd they're really starting to get a little pricey. I remember working at a used game store a few years ago and selling em for 40 bucks a pop. Not seeing that in my neck of the woods these days lol.

still the best way to play sonic adventure and i do prefer how pso looks on dreamcast even if i miss the episode 4 content

On console I agree (despite the 30 FPS and unskippable cutscenes)... why did they mess SADX so badly?

BetterSADX is the definitive way to enjoy SA1 imo.

And I do prefer how PSO looks on Dreamcast even if I miss the Episode 4 content.
I don't know if it's the lower resolution, the fog or just the way the console handled graphics compared to the Gamecube and Xbox but I've always found the game to be "moodier" there (especially in areas like Caves 2)

Maybe they rushed the port on the Gamecube/Xbox (like they did with SADX ruining the lantern engine) or the fog was just part of the experience.

Episode 2 and 4 added nice content but this also means that loot from those episodes are basically making you even more powerful so that Ultimate in Episode 1 is way easier than it was back on the Dreamcast.

gamecube always felt like it had a green tint to me, atmosphere just isnt the same. i also remember when i first played the gamecube version feeling like some textures were changed for the enemies but that could have just been the green tint of the port

I have a deep love and nostalgia for the Dreamcast. I met so many people through PSO. It was the most enjoyable console I've ever owned, with the VMU, amazing graphics, and so many great games released in such a short period of time. It will always have a special place in my heart. I still play with burned discs, but after a while decided to buy the GDemu, and keep the laser from degrading more. I have a original one and one with gd emu with most games, and while I am a "purist", it took me a while to understand that the GDemu is just the best solution for playing on DC hardware.

To top it off, the homebrew games and ports have only improved the experience. Best console of all time imo.

The Dreamcast carried a level of mysticism to me like no other console before or after. I only found out about it well after it was dead as a kid; I'd played games like Sonic Adventure on the Gamecube, and didn't even know Sega ever had their own consoles. (I was quite young)

Then I learned it was this console that did online, which seemed crazy to me. I was ignorant of the nascent online features the other 6th gen consoles had. But then the Dreamcast had this thing called the VMU, and could get "new" content in games unlocked via the online, even! It felt like we had somehow regressed from what Sega created and I always wondered why.

These days, things like the VMU do seem like a novelty more than anything else but I really appreciate the Dreamcast despite never owning yet having played a large amount of its catalogue. I actually own a Dreamcast controller but no console. Sad face.
