I genuinely dont care, i separate the user from its content. Even if he/she did something horrible, im here for the content not the user.
That's genuinely good advise.

We wouldn't be able to enjoy anything if we allowed the people who made those things to be one and the same with their works. Sports are full of asshats. So is Art. Music. Movies. TV shows. Cartoons. Comics...

It's up to you.
I have a really hard time caring for internet personalities in the first hand, so if I know they did something iffy in their own lives that I don't jive with too much, I generally have an easy time dropping them because I don't want to feel like I'm supporting them. I'll just watch something else.
In general separating the creator from their creations is something I think is really hard, but it differs for everyone.

I may disagree with the person, but I can still enjoy their work.
This.

If anything, you can do things like watch their videos while having AdBlock on, so they don't get money from ads if they're a YouTuber. Or if they're a writer or artist, you can just pirate their work and not buy anything related to it.

Yes, I am talking about the second part from experience.

I like to separate the art from the artist, whatever they are like is none of my concern, what matters is if i enjoy what they make.

I don't feel like watching someone's movies or content is "supporting them or their actions". If you get heavily involved in their business, support them monetarily or champion them online, that is a different argument altogether.

A personal example for me is that I used to watch Projared many years ago, then all that shit went down with him. And even though he got cleared with all that relationship drama in the end or whatever (I don't think anyone in that situation was guiltless really), I couldn't stomach continuing watching a nerd video game youtuber who I had seen gross dick pics of. Him having a "send nudes ring" as a tumblr side-hustle was an open secret long before all that went down though, but it was avoidable.

I realized he was an smug unfunny charisma black hole hack long before all the drama though.

I don't think cheating is a "cancellable" deed. But I wouldn't want to watch someone's supposedly wholesome content if I know they're an outspoken racist or pedophile or an abuser or whatever.

My Take on this is what did they get cancelled for I feel like it’s a lot more than just Yes or No because if the person is a pedo, racist (that isn’t willing to learn from there mistakes) or just done something that makes you go huh that’s strange sure I would stop watching. But if it’s nonsense like the person idk didn’t give money to a homeless person like bro it’s not that deep im not inclined to give money to people. Like in this new Cody Ko stuff I think it’s totally valid if people don’t wanna consume his content anymore cause he is genuinely a weirdo but you realize a lot of people don’t care in the grand scheme of things. ESPECIALLY if you listen to rap Kendrick and Drake beef and how Drake has so much just crazy moments for the public to see he is a weirdo and manipulator and people still listen

AdBlock is essential for any kind of internet activity, especially on lower-spec computers. Far too many websites are literally unusable without it. YouTube isn't that bad, but being interrupted every few minutes for adverts is too much like the cable TV services I left behind in the last century.

This is the main reason you just stay away from sites like Twitter even tho there are normal people on there you have people cancelling people for nonsense. Or right wingers spewing nonsense or left wingers spewing nonsense shit is a nonsense battleground

Idk I feel like there’s a certain line atleast for me. It’s hard for me to consume something I know like a straight up just down right bad person made even though I know I loved it before anything came out about them

I think you mean 'the site formerly known as Twitter'? ;)

I fully agree with you. I personally haven't visited any 'social media service' in at least a year.

only site I use is Instagram and that’s only for photography and my private page for friends

It really depends for me; If it’s a YouTuber, or Author I’ll stop consuming their content if the offence has solid evidence and it’s something I consider actually bad. Books, podcasts and YouTube videos are too closely tied to the creator for death of the author to apply.

For tv shows, movies etc unless it was revealed everyone in the cast is horrible. There’s just too many people to disregard all their work because of one person. There’s too much that goes into production to apply it all to one person, it’s honestly insulting to disregard all their work because of one bad apple.

Cancel culture is nonsense, so many are far too trigger happy; When they actually target an actual horrible person they rarely do anything to help the situation (the only situation I can think actually help was the daddyO5 or whatever channel cancellation off the top of my head), before moving on to the next hot topic. How every other day someone is being cancelled for being into kids, maybe instead of hassling the person for a week then moving on; Try a different tactic to get these creeps off platforms because clearly it isn’t working . So often it’s getting off on their being morally.

It’s important to cover situations, but at the same time maybe try to get things handled behind the scenes before screaming about it(and get people that can actually do something about it involved); If their attacked first it’s easier for them to gain sympathy and lump themselves in with the actual falsely accused, or just wait till the mob gets bored (Like figure out a way to actually stop creeps and criminals from continuing their actions first)

No for real we gotta start reporting these actual pedos to the police if they are using there influence to take advantage over their kid following not just let them back away from the internet

A cancellation that was so bad that he never recovered from is CallmeCarson I don’t think he will get that core fanbase back even after defending himself and finding out oh he was a pedo he was just two years older than the girl just a slight age gap. You can make the argument at the power dynamics of him being a big YouTuber and her being a fan but it was still consensual if i remember but it got to crazy I mean he betrayed his friends trust so that made it worse.

Honestly, I try to avoid the online drama cause I have enough with my own personal circle but the only case I've been forced into it against my will was in the Fire Emblem community. There was the Youtuber Mangs who was accused of sexual assault by another community member and he was "cancelled" by the whole community. It was a he said/she said case, but everyone took their sides and dragged each other across the mud in the whole thing. Pretty embarrassing for everyone involved, to be honest.

You read that too fast lmao
Writers guild btw smhhh LOL ?

Or a good warning to anyone who wants to become a youtube celebrity. Your whole personal life becomes fair game to people online to dissect.
