Since I just recently finished retrofitting an old windows 7 rig that a family member gave to me because they didn't want it anymore I figured I'd share what the setup looks like plus encourage people to share their own

it is an absolute mess as far as cable management goes I'm aware, but in my defense I basically only kept this thing around so I could play Sega GT and New Vegas without having to use my main pc that sounds like a damn jet engine and then just kinda kept adding things onto it and upgrading it
GPU is a GTX 970, processor is some AMD Athlon thing I don't remember the name of, it's basically the only part I haven't replaced besides the board and case
It's got 12 gigabytes of DDR3 and the wifi card is a cheap piece of crap that doesn't work and I need to replace it because the drivers don't support windows 7 T-T

Well my Laptop is same as my friend but the difference os that mine I buy this four years ago and manly playing MS-Dos and emulator

I don't if you can run Skyrim on this one because I really want to play it I have Skyrim on ps3 and played before I quit because at that time I was overwhelmed I want to getback into but the pc version is the best version.

I got a Linux (holds up to 1tb of storage) that was about 250 bucks with Bose speakers (another hundred), JVC noise cancelling headphones (the headphones were free from someone else), an HP printer, a 4tb external hard drive, a cheap monitor by SCEPTER, a light up mouse and keyboard called "Rii" from China, an HDMI cable which was the wrong size (luckily the monitor came with it's own), a custom mouse pad that has Vectorman hanging out with Sonic and Tails, and a big cd case that holds 200 discs because i got a stack of blank CD-Rs and DVD-Rs, a cheap lamp and some bulbs, and i think that's it. Oh and it's on an L-shaped desk that has a nice side bag that holds my printer paper and other things. Got one of those pencil holders and a pair of left handed scissors (yes i'm a lefty), a trash bin, a bunch of sharpies for marking discs...

My PC itself has programs installed on it like winamp, imgburn, DOSBOX, ect.

All I'm missing is one of those cat hanging from a tree posters

Had this laptop since about 2019 and it's served me fairly well. Mainly use it to play semi-newer indie titles, mess around on youtube, and just do general stuff. Would like to upgrade the ram at some point

screens and keyboard that I've had since forever and never plan of ever upgrading (768p & 900p screens), aliexpress soundbar that my friend sold to me broken for five bucks (had to resolder a wire), legendary G502 mouse, all my juice wrld CDs and stuff, a ringlight that I bought at Action (european store that I cannot describe in other terms than small IRL temu, if ykyk) and which i never really used for its intended purpose, random stuff on the desk like optical wipes (to clean the VR lenses), random parapharmaceutical products, bread yeast (a remain from that time i brew my own alcohol), my bike's light (need to bring it here to charge it), my drinking glass full of calcium carbonate (i will wash it eventually), if you look down you'll see the pedals of my logitech wheel (my simracist setup is *not* optimal because of my office chair with wheels)

more memes on the wall, the full layout of fr azerty keyboard on x11 with all the special characters (kinda useful), some memos printed with the aliexpress cat printer (next to the bluetooth mouse) one of them got DNS server addresses in case i need those the other one was to remind me to cancel my amazon prime subscription, fanart calandar from dm29, october 2024 i couldn't be bothered to print out the rest (funfact he named the file fartcal2024.pdf which i find very funny), that one scene from Va-11 Hall-A that I liked so much i printed it (its in multiple small sheets because at the time there was a company called FreePrints or something which basically printed photos for free in that small format, that was years before i had my printer (an epson ecotank))

that's most of my computers, mini pc on top is an aliexpress intel n100 very useful to browse the web in summer without turning my room into an oven, running artix linux x11 dwm full-disk encryption (thats my main pc), mini pc below it is a ThinkCenter I bought used to use as a seedbox, running netBSD (don't mind the sticker saying that it belongs to the government), the big tower is my most powerful computer, got a real story this one started out as a 3rd gen intel motherboard in a cardboard (my first pc capable of running modern games), now it got a case and everything Ryzen 7700X 64GB of RAM RX 9070 XT dual booting OpenMandriva and windows 10 (the same windows SSD as when that whole thing started out), you'll notice a bulge on the top that was from that one time I didn't have a chair and tried to sit on it, when I need optimal airflow I just open the case, that computer doesn't see much action during the summer cause i have to keep that place cool somehow, you can see my Framework 13 just vibing in some place random (idk where to store it when i don't use) don't mind the mess I'll tidy up eventually (not today nor tomorrow) the headset is a Pico 4 god-tier hardware, merguez-tier software

that's the kind of computer you usually find at absurdly low price on ebay

edit: seems to have quite a lot of ram and storage a recent wlan modem and a recent cpu so maybe the price is normal

PC Setup...? What PC??

This is my daily driver:

Yep, it's pretty crusty by today's standards, but the damn thing just works. I use it for photo editing, music editing, video encoding, typing and printing, online businesses... and it does the job well.

I'm pretty past-due for an upgrade, but I just can't bring myself to splash the cash on a newer model when the old one still works just fine. Still have plenty of space on my SSD, and I have a 256 GB SD card inserted at all times that I use as a backup / file dump. Quite the reliable machine, this one.

Also goes without saying that I am not much of a computer gamer! About the newest game I can run on this "rig" is StarCraft II. It works pretty well - provided I run it in Potato Mode

Absolutely terrible fucking news
I just found out that somehow in the less than 2 weeks since I bought the acer monitor that I use with my windows 7 rig, it somehow managed to get a scratch on it
so it's basically useless to me because I have whatever mental defect makes it so that literally any imperfections or damage on a monitor is obscenely distracting
