Dollhouse (2025)
A Bride for Rip Van Winkle (2016)
Shoutai (2024)

After watching Harakiri, I started Seven Samurai thinking it would make me feel the same way. But I had some trouble staying focused and keeping track of the characters, so I did not feel very connected to them or the story. I can still tell it is really well directed though, so I want to give it another try sometime.

Seven Samurai is a film that rewards multiple viewings, though I would recommend to space out your viewings and only watch when you can fully focus. You should also check out Sword of Doom or Hiroshi Inagaki's adaptation of Miyamoto Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa, known as The Samurai Trilogy staring Toshiro Mifune.

I will do that and make use of the old school intermission in the middle of the movie. Something tells me I should not give up on it. Thanks for the recommendations.

Recently watched Castle of Owls

It was a pretty cool movie especially with the final confrontation between the mc and a rival ninja. Shinobi no mono was a little better but I still enjoyed the movie.

Sharon Stone is the spitting image of Rhonda Rousey in some scenes. Angery head.

Been a while since I posted here.

Monday Movie Night from last week. Her choice.

An intensely sexual film, brilliantly done. If you had prepared me for how much of Lea Seydoux's bare body I was gonna see in this beforehand, I probably would have been shocked. Was massively shocked to see it out of the blue.
If you like romance, this is a no brainer. Raw and real. Borders the line between film and pornography in a great way. Some intensely great performances from the leads, and weaves a compelling life story of a queer coming of age.

Monday Movie Night from tonight. My pick.

CAPSULE & EeL - fashion fashion

The exact thing I needed today. Explosively pop. Brilliantly edited. Fantastic and playful cinematography. Music by THE Yoko Kanno and tommy heavenly6. This is more than idyllic, this is a part of me immediately.
Lolita girl meets sukeban girl. Life changing hijinks ensue. I laughed, I teared up a little, I felt inspired. It's really amazing to be able to experience art like this. Can't recommend this film enough. Sure a forum this tapped in has a few users already in the know, or maybe they don't see the things I see here.
Either way, this is now a tentpole in my heart, keeping the vessels open and clear. FANTASTIC.

Mystery Train (1989)
The best part of this film is the beginning section with the Japanese couple, Mitsuko and Jun.
The other vignettes are good, though I just cant help wanting the whole film to be about them,
and even showing their trip to Graceland. Which I expected to see the first time I watched this. It's somewhat strange to see this film now though, as the first time I watched it I didn't have as much of an understanding of spoken Japanese as I do currently. Now I can understand most of what they are saying without subs, Hololive JP has improved my listening skills the most.

Yesterday I've seen Junk World since it finally got released

(Yeah I prefer the Japanese poster).
I still prefer Junk Head overall but this was a fun story although the link between this prequel and the first movie is really thin (like, seeing only one character that makes a cameo and that's it). I think the puppetry and models are much better and more refined.
