It has flaws yet I love its almost 2001-like aesthetic.

I watched Treasure Planet with my bf for his birthday and now I want to beat every Disney executive to death with my bare hands.

t's been a while since I watched it, but it was the first time I saw The Matrix.I really enjoyed the movie.

リング・Ring (1998)
I'm going to be watching this tonight.
I might rewatch the 1995 made for tv film as well as some other Hideo Nakata horror films.

Messiah of Evil - Wikipedia

I've heard about it but haven't gotten around to watching it until now.

This weeks Movie Monday was 'Total Recall'

Had never seen it before. Was shocked at how quintessential it felt to modern cyberpunk media. As someone who thought he was into cyberpunk when he was a 2015 tumblr aesthetic blogger, I feel like a fool for not seeing this way back then.

Now that I've dipped my toe in the Verhoeven waters, I definitely need to see Robocop now.

Me and my girlfriend are watching The Godfather Trilogy, there's just one movie left.

Also it was the 80's The Matrix.

Is that true that The Godfather is the best movie of history next to Citizen Kane?

Maybe for its time, hard to say. Its worth a watch all the same

Amazon.com: Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum : Lee Seung-Wook;Wi Ha-Jun;Park Sung-Hun, Jung Bum-shik: Movies & TV

Just watched Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. I was sort of thinking the found footage to just be Korean Grave Encounter before going in, but it turned out to be a lot scarier than expected.

This time in Blu-Ray and I love it even more

Opus. I mainly watched it because I wanted to see John Malkovich be weird. What I didn't know was that it also features John Malkovich twerking. John Malkovich is 72. ::booshy
It was pretty amusing and creepy at the same time. It's about a young journalist who thinks she's getting her big break interviewing a world famous pop star that just came out of retirement after 20 years. Things aren't what they seem and everything just gets weird. The music is pretty catchy too.

I also watched a similar sort of experience called Him. I like Marlon Wayans. But I do not like sportsball. So some of it was probably lost on me. A young football star gets a career ending injury that he's determined to recover from. He gets the chance to train with his childhood idol, who miraculously recovered from a career ending injury years before. All of the treatments and training get weirder and more brutal and culminates into something I wasn't expecting. I also liked the Mo Money reference. :loldog

David Prod did that movie? Nice.

I kinda liked it but apparently it was one of the least popular Ghibli movie around...
I don't really look into what anime studio animates what, I just watch and I also don't really know if the My Neighbors the Yamadas is one of that studio's least popular anime movies.

I'm on a 80s/90s action movie kick, so far I've watched:

The Running Man (1984)
RoboCop (1987)
Masters of the Universe (1987)
Predator (1987)
Die Hard (1988)
Total Recall (1990)
Universal Soldier (1992)
Demolition Man (1993)
Street Fighter (1994)

I still have some more I want to watch as well

I just watched Nope (2022) for the third time, with some friends and siblings and who hadn't seen it before. Brought my 4K Blu-ray over. Fantastic movie as ever, although it turned out my brother was using an old HDMI cable on the PS5 that didn't support 4K / HDR and I only started to realize when some of the nighttime scenes looked weirdly low contrast.

I have glasses now so I'll probably notice the resolution difference too if something like this happens again.

I also watched Jacob's Ladder (1990) the other day, which I would describe as Perfect Blue if it was an episode of The X-Files. A YouTube comment I saw had it as "a cross between Platoon and Rosemary's Baby" which I would also heavily agree with. I wish I hadn't taken like two years to get around to watching it because it's a really excellent film. Trippy horror is one of my favorite genres and several scenes from it are going to stick with me for a while.

It's also going to fundamentally change the way I think about this song, lmao.

Right now I'm Taking of Pelham 123 (1974) and might watch the other versions later
