Movies Share movies you've watched or are going to watch today.

Let's see, over the holiday weekend I saw:
Moana 2 (2024), not bad.
Beverly Hills Cop 2 (1987) for the quite possibly thousandth time.
Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), because I've taken forever to finally see it.
High Society (1956), because it's a family favorite *and* I think it's the better Philadelphia Story.
Dirty Harry (1971), because Lalo Schifrin's score burns me up.
The Narrow Margin (1952) is a tense little...I'm not sure, I'd say film noir but it's really uh, pulp-y. Anyways a cop uses his head to steer clear of unknown hitmen out for a woman's life on a train. The degree he has to out-think them makes it feel like Die Hard on Rails, almost.
It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (1963), because a friend made me re-watch Cannonball Run, so I had to return the favor with the movie Burt Reynolds wishes he had made.
...and Yojimbo (1961) and The Tale of Zatoichi (1962) back to back, although Yojimbo is the better movie by a country mile.

In my defense, it was a 4 day weekend, and I wasn't doing much cooking this time.

I rewatched the og Rush Hour! It's still great fun imo

Also I watched M3GAN... reminder to never watch a modern "horror movie" rated PG-13

Today was Conclave (2024)! Pretty good, with an amazing cast all whispering or yelling at each other. Almost felt anti-climactic though, the music and cinematography is SO tense that you're expecting one or more of the sequestered cardinals to be The Thing from the John Carpenter movie, an alien doppelganger.

...shit. I really want that movie now.

Going to watch Suburban Commando as I've been meaning to watch this movie for several years now, so hopefully I'll enjoy it.

Update: I did like it and some parts where funny to me.

Sorry about the late reply, (notifications for forum quotes are turned off for me) but if I can find that movie, though I can't say for sure when I'd watch it as I'm not much of a movie person like I used to be. So is the movie called Dookie or something else?

No Holds Barred, a wrestling epic where Hulk Hogan plays...a fictional version of Hulk Hogan!

Honestly it's one of those "so bad it's good" movies, with a lot of choices that had to be made on cocaine.

Been getting into noir and westerns lately.

Stone cold classics, those. I've been watching a lot of those too, these being some recent favorites.

Day of Anger isn't the best western, the lead actor just doesn't hold a candle to Van Cleef, and the movie's worse off for it.

That being said, there's a challenge to the death about halfway in, Lee Van Cleef and a gun for hire squaring off on horseback with rifles. Imagine one of the standoffs from a Sergio Leone film if it was a joust, one of the coolest things I've seen in a movie this year.

Elliot Gould was so absurdly cool, and this one might be his best. Fun random aside, Schwarzenegger is a random thug in one scene, one of the first things he was ever in.

I'm going to have to check out Day of Anger. I love Lee Van Cleef's work in everything I have seen him in. The Big Gundown is my favourite of his.

I just saw that for the first time last month, it's so good!

Going to watch the Robin Williams movie called Merry Friggin' Christmas & see if it's any good.

Update: The movie kind of sucked, though that's a shame since Robin Williams was in it.

Watched these 3. The one in the middle, Do Sing, is the most absurd comedy I have seen in a very long time. Chinese movies know how to get weird.
Also Bingo was released in 2017, just two years before Joker and both share a lot of themes. It may not be technically impressive, but definitely worth watching if you like clowns and depression.

Also I finally watched this very interesting cult classic:

It's the holidays, but I never feel like watching holiday movies this time of year. Christmas in July, I say!

Instead, the last few days I've watched:

The Big Easy (1986), Cleopatra (1963), Rising Sun (1993), High Noon (1952), The Game is Over (1966), Dial M for Murder (1954), Carry-On (2024), Green Fire (1954), and Command Decision (1948).

I was on a real Grace Kelly kick lately, I should re-watch High Society or Rear Window tonight.

Impressive detective romp, feels kinda like Chinatown-lite. I hear the book's even better.
Russel Crowe is so good in that movie, really made him a star. (But only because not enough people watched one of my favorite movies, The Quick and the Dead, just a couple years earlier.)

I would really love to tell you all, but the first rule is I'm not supposed to talk about it, and the second rule is I'm not supposed to talk about it.
Finally. A man of culture.

I woke up feeling....funky.

You'd best believe I'm answering everything with a sharp "Sho'Nuff!" today.
