This is the official retro game talk Sailor Moon fan thread! A place for fans of everything Sailor Moon can come and talk about the world's number one magical girl series!

It doesn't matter if you've been watching her since the 90s (like me) or just watched her reduce a monster to moon dust for the very first time today, fans of all kinds are welcome. Talk about your favorite senshi, episode, movie, manga chapter, attack, monster, villain, arc, etc. to your heart's content.

Sailor Moon was my very first anime so it holds a very special place in my heart. I watched it on my aunt's VHS tapes at first but then I watched it regularly when it aired on Toonami. The DIC/Cloverway dub wasn't very good but it's what I grew up with and I love it warts and all, but I will admit wholeheartedly that the Funimation one is by far better. Anyway, I have watched many anime since but it all started with our favorite princess of the moon. Now, tell me about your experiences and memories with Sailor Moon.

I used to watch that at noon, as part of an All-Star lineup with Case Closed!, Ranma 1/2 and Slam Dunk! I went to school completely fueled by all that Japanese awesomeness lol

NO WAY! It always feels like I'm one of four people when it comes to other people that like Sailor Moon but then.. y'know, yes. Anyway, I liked Amara the most! I often mock the cousins thing but I actually really like her as a character, she's the type of person I would want as a big sister not that any of the Sailors are bad but she's definitely the big sister I always wanted!

I’m glad that when Sailormoon made in the Philippines they retained everything for the dub in the’90s heck yeah even the yuri and none of those’cousins’ crap.

A ton of men watch Shojo they just dont admit it
I'm subscribed to magazine by and for cartoon nerds, almost all the writers are men, one issue is the history of 70s and 80s shojo and it's 128 pages long; and almost all of it is written by men

How did the SUPER CATHOLIC Philippines allow lesbians on a kids show? I'm not anti-LGBT or anything but it just seems like something that wouldn't fly in that country.

Surprisingly enough super catholic italy allowed Oh My God and Tits in the ita dub of faily oddparents, I cant think of one american show that allowed it

I seen that episode about a week or two ago lol.

I remember watching a bit of the DiC English dubbed version on Toonami back in the early 2000's but of course I didn't finish watching it, though I started watching it last year, which I've watched 27 episodes of the first season if you call it that.

Sailor Moon was one of my favorite anime shows from the '90s as I used to watch it during the original Toonami run on Cartoon Network. Ami was one of my first anime crushes from the show alongside Minako.

Ita dubs are worse generally, Steven Universe got censored, both scenes and dialogue, like every instance of the word "Death" or innoucuous jokes like "Steven's Pregnant?!"

But theres a few occasions that stuck out to me where they were more lineant

In the ita dub he says "I thought you said silicon tits!"

In the ita dub she says "Oh my god! we gotta stop him!"
Yes the uranus joke makes no sense in italian and I got it many years later while I was in the shower and went "Hah!"

Also in one episode of Courage the cowardly dog Eustace says "bastard"

i dont think it's a coincidence the arcade game Banpresto put the most money and effort into it was a beat em up, that genre has always been marketed to boys

I love the og series, the first season is my favorite by far, but at least up to S I'd say is pretty solid.
Also of the og 5 senshis, Venus is my favorite, even though she rarely gets the attention she deserves (the manga is better in that aspect). Though my actual favorite definitely is Saturn.

That game was the only, and I mean THE ONLY, Sailor Moon video game that made it to the west (not counting that Italian one for the DS) and honestly it's a damn shame.
