That game was the only, and I mean THE ONLY, Sailor Moon video game that made it to the west (not counting that Italian one for the DS) and honestly it's a damn shame.
How did the SUPER CATHOLIC Philippines allow lesbians on a kids show? I'm not anti-LGBT or anything but it just seems like something that wouldn't fly in that country.
We’ll probably since the ‘70s there’s been a portrayal of gay characters in our local media tv and movies and even radio dramas. Since then it’s common to see a gay character and for us fiction has a bit of reality in it for that matter.

I mean I think gay marriage is still illegal in japan yet they're they have a ton of gays in fiction right? Not every country is strict with what they allow on tv

I watched Sailor Moon in Southern California in... I'm gonna say 95? Maybe KCOP 13. The episodes ran with a lady in a live action suit who would do little story updates when they came back from commercials. Maybe before and after the episodes too? I don't recall the Toonami version having that, but it's fuzzy in my memory.
I also used to pick up Mixx Zine that was like an attempt at a Shonen Jump-style publication in the US, probably around that same time. I remember it having Sailor Moon, Parasyte, and two other series I can't recall... Ice something? It was cool because the pages were colored. Not like colored like a comic, but black in on yellow or pink pages. I think Mixx went on to rebrand as Tokyopop, not sure.
I used to own those original ADV dvd boxsets that are like all blue with a moon and then SM's silhouette was in silver foil, but unloaded them a long time ago. I bet they're not cheap nowadays.
I saw an ad for a live action Sailor Moon show earlier today, that's going to tour limited dates around the US. For some reason, about 1/3 of them are in Texas?
Anyway, that's all I got. Mars > Mercury, and that Anne of Green Gables anime shown in those photos on the first page of this thread is A+++, watch it if you haven't
I love how they draw arcades in jap cartoons, unlike americans which tended to be humorous (or just plain wrong and clealry drawn by someone who never played videogames) they tend to be as accurate as possible while still being stylized
Look the part underneath the steering wheel is metal! And has screws! I remember that!
And with the games themselves they tried recreating the feeling of sprties with drawings and give them very choppy animations, it's so neat!
Remember Mercury has the top score in the whole arcade and gathered a huge ass crowd when she was gone. I'm so In love
Also she has Robocop's prime directive on her mini computer
Not the first time Ive seen that in a jp toon as filler text

Brother, as a boy growing up in a pretty masculine household, I got no end of grief from watching Sailor Moon, Rom-Coms, and magical girl anime. I always loved the really pretty and cutesy aspects of these genres, so when I first saw Sailor Moon 20 years ago, my eyes fucking bugged out. It was like it was made for me and my developing brain.

NO WAY! It always feels like I'm one of four people when it comes to other boys that like Sailor Moon but then.. y'know, yes. Anyway, I liked Amara the most! I often mock the cousins thing but I actually really like her as a character, she's the type of person I would want as a big sister not that any of the Sailors are bad but she's definitely the big sister I always wanted!
A ton of men watch Shojo they just dont admit it
I'm subscribed to magazine by and for cartoon nerds, almost all the writers are men, one issue is the history of 70s and 80s shojo and it's 128 pages long; and...
I'm not crazy about it... Sort of. I have some connection to Sailor Moon because I used to have to watch the same TV as my younger sister and she loved watching Sailor Moon, and made me watch it too naturally. So I mess with it a bit. The original series has one of the best anime openings. I love Moonlight Densetsu. I really like the pastel look to it. It's very appealing to look at. Those old Beat em Ups are really fun too.
