I played some docked tonight and I'm kinda underwhelmed. The text on the home screen immediately didn't look 4K. It looks identical to the Switch and doesn't look so hot on my OLED. I've only played one game so far, Fast Fusion which boasts multiple settings (Performance, Balanced, Graphics), I chose graphics just to see what it looks like at "4K" and again, like the home screen, a lot of the text looks low res, and the game itself certainly doesn't look "4K." I assume it's using upscaling and it looks pretty low res.

I wonder why people never admit they bought shit, but even being shit they like it. I've bought many crappy stuff in my life and I thought it was crap while buying it, but it was cheap and met my needs in certain moments in my life. This device is crap but it's not cheap. I am trying really hard, but I can't find a reason to get one at that price :(

Because everyone's different and likes different things? I didn't buy a switch 2 and don't intend to, but I'm seeing some people legitimately with theirs, so more power to them.

I was really excited, but bad news after bad news. Now I can certainly say I just dont give a crap. If it werent for the memes and posts like this I wouldnt even remember it was. And I kind of shocks me: for the announcement EVERYONE were talking about the switch 2, but today I havent seen many information.

I hope people dad got it have fun. And I really do, i mean, you guys are going to have to pay A LOT for games, and many of them will be just a "Download permit card"

When the PS6 and Xbox 720 arrives. The Switch 2 can handle current gen games and it lost a lot of what made the first one special: Physical plug and play, affordability, etc. Unless Sony and MS play their cards terribly, they will wipe the SW2 out of the water.

Switch 2...Piracy instead. Honestly I don't even wanna pirate the games I'm probably gonna just hang around my backlog of stuff I already pirated. lol maybe sleep or something. I mean yeah more power to people who got one but I really didn't want one anyway.

I guess the new Donkey Kong game looks good that's about the only game I liked I guess but I'm not about to pay all that for a system only to buy and play one game because I didn't have any interest in the other games released.

But yeah, to make sure I stay on topic, I wasn't thrilled about its announcement either. Kinda forgot it was coming out until all the news channels kept telling I can buy it now today. My reason for being pessimistic about it is cause I already have the old Switch and it still works fine. I don't need a new one or a replacement one. The Switch 2 is no different to the PS5 Pro model - just a slight upgrade with new "bells and whistles" to make sure the previous model sucks.

4k haha, even ps5pro and xbone seriesX and highend PC above $2000 barely run true 4k.
Switch2 core true resolution is 1080p, upscall AI tricks , play Cyperpunk 2077 is pretty good performance.

If Nintendo priced the Japan-only Switch 2 at 50000JPY means there is margin in that price, the excuse of weak yen may convince the dumb but not many other people. Nintendo is the least company to sell consoles at a loss, they are as greedy as hell and on top of that, they always felt artificially empowered by some kind of god entity.

If they priced the Switch 2 right, 350-370€ from the very start, 95% of the people complaining wouldn't have said a thing about its price, also if they kept the pricing policies right and stop the game-key shit everyone would be happier.

It's not a matter of hurting me or not. You're basically saying that people who do not question things like this is ok, like being hypnotized makes them happy.

Don't get me wrong, everything related to videogames is for me, because is one of my hobbies, specially a new console, but I place my criteria over my like, and that's what I am trying to say, I may be explaining it really wrong. I should tell you I am the one who will buy Switch 2 this year, but the Japanese-only version, as that console is priced correctly. Whatever I do later, it's on me, but if something has the right price I am always in the side of the consumer, regardless of my liking.

Mario Kart World looks good both docked and undocked. While it looks good, though, this might end up being my least favorite Mario Kart since Mario Kart Wii. The tracks are very wide and the racing is slow. 50cc is slower than ever. Even 150cc feels slow compared to previous entries. The track design is often notably worse than Double Dash, 7 and 8. I find myself looking for any opportunity to find a wall to ride or a rail to grind to get a boost and speed up the gameplay.

Additionally, the open world mode was a waste of development time. All you do is ride around in big empty worlds and complete mini games that aren't even fun.

Despite what Doug Bowser said, this is not an $80 game. Stick with 8 Deluxe.

Also tried out the Street Fighter 6 demo and its image quality -- at least in handheld -- looks abysmal.

Of course different economy dictates what you buy, but I am not talking about what you can afford, I am talking about what is a "right" price. There are some cars which cost 20000€ and other cars that cost over 100000€, and both of them will drive you anywhere. But the quality is different. For me, which I am iliterate about cars, I couldn't tell if the 100000€ car really has 100000€ in quality, or it's half + half coming from the brand, but someone who understands about cars will buy the car if it's worth it not because it is from a specific brand but because it is a good car and it's worth its price, objectively speaking. That makes me a dumb person regarding cars. If my hobby were cars, I would be the one to blame, because it's part of my life and I should understand about it. The less I understand, the more liking I will get cheated.

Everything has an objective price, because it has to be made from scratch and that has a price. But it's ok, I think I failed to make myself understood :(

As a side note, I will add that, at least in Europe, it happened before with Nintendo. They released 3DS with an absurd price of 250€ and they got kicked in their butt. What they did? cut down the price to 170€ only 6 months after they released it. That's around 30% price cut, and they kept getting money after that. How do you think people who paid 250€ felt? specially after the treatment they received? none of them felt dumb? there was some people that thought they made an excellent buy when they got it for 250€?

The only thing I'm glad for is multiplatform games potentially keeping themselves a bit lower end to accommodate the Switch 2 better, it gives lower end PCs and devices like the Steam Deck a good chance to keep getting big games in the coming years.

I don't regret spending the money since Nintendo rarely drops the price of hardware, and their games tend to stay up in price as well, and I'll know I'll get a lot of use out of it over the next 8 or however many years it's alive BUT, I have to be honest. I would not recommend it right now, and Mario Kart World being worth $80 is a lie. I'd recommend spending $5 more and getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and the course pass. Even though World looks better from a technical perspective, from an aesthetic, gameplay, and value perspective, I think 8 Deluxe with the course pass is a better value with more longevity.

Hopefully the new Donkey Kong and Metroid Prime deliver.
