Rise and Shine,The Nintendo Switch 2 is Finally Out Yo,But...

^^^ What does it matter, third party gamemakers wont jump into bandwagon to pay money for the memory chips.
Only older rich fangoys, influencers and scalpers bought out the first batches Switch2.
No cheap families will buy switch2, when switch1 are same fun and cheaper available.

I still haven't been answered about the game-key cards everytime I ask someone who bought a Switch 2. I just want to know what they think about a game being released physically on Switch but as a game-key card on Switch 2. Curious enough, I never get an answer.
Well... It's a shitty move. For me, it's no different to the known Switch games released ‘physically’ in the form of a code in a box or ‘collections’ of games like Bayonetta 1 + 2 or Star Wars Heritage Pack, where you only have Bayonetta 2 or STAR WARS Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, STAR WARS Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, STAR WARS Episode I Racer, STAR WARS Republic Commando and STAR WARS: The Force Unleashed on a cartridge, and Bayonetta and STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic and STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords are in one time use code form.

Just because the publishers didn't want to spend money on a bigger cartridge.

Only advantage is that, unlike the code in the box you can resell Game Key-Card.

I think game-key cards are dumb. If I had to choose between that or just having a digital version, I would choose the latter.
But in terms of preservation, I'm not concerned about game key cards because at some point in the future, there will be a viable emulator as well as offline game files (like ISO or XCI) for these games, just like every generation before it. It may take a while (the Switch being so easy to emulate is not common and I don't expect that to happen as quickly with the Switch 2), but it will happen eventually. Just like how I'm not worried if Steam ever breaks their promise and I lose access to my digital library of PC games. There will be offline game files out there. So I'm not worried about preservation because these games will be preserved digitally, just like the classic ROMs on CDR.

I enjoy participating on this forum because I pirate old games. I do not pirate new systems/games.

Amazing, I have a MIG Switch Card, I need to buy the earlier Switch2 afterall.
Before AntiNintendont will patch it!

You cant hack those Digital Games, Nintendont learned from the XBONE is UNHACKABLE.
SWITCH1 is probably the LAST Gen "RETRO" ROMS, unless there are Loopholes in the Switch1 backwardscompatibilty to gain access into Switch2, still the AntiPirate's Online Verification is Unhackable.

I played some docked tonight and I'm kinda underwhelmed. The text on the home screen immediately didn't look 4K. It looks identical to the Switch and doesn't look so hot on my OLED. I've only played one game so far, Fast Fusion which boasts multiple settings (Performance, Balanced, Graphics), I chose graphics just to see what it looks like at "4K" and again, like the home screen, a lot of the text looks low res, and the game itself certainly doesn't look "4K." I assume it's using upscaling and it looks pretty low res.

Yeah...
Check your system settings

It was a bad move to make it Switch1 backwardscompactible, hackdoors are everywhere!
Maybe they account on that, since that will boost the Switch2 hardware sells.

Better start seeding then because the Repo here has a good chance of vanishing now that the paypigs have fed Nintendo's lawyers army. Dont expect free leech when things go sour, which there's a good chance they will.

You took every opportunity in this thread to tell others who criticized your crappy little handheld that they were bitter they couldn't afford it. But just be honest with yourself. You pirate games and there's no moral high ground nor difference if they're old or new. Specially when you could have bought re-release and remasters for 60 bucks, or simply searched for the original game.

Turns out you're the one here who's bitter and couldn't afford all that because you cant spare money or find a job who pays well.

I'd still argue that waiting a bit before the game is no longer available is better.

And indie games being pirated is out of question.

I bet you pirated plenty of games that were available had you even taken five minutes to search for them.

As for indie... Marketing has stretched the notion of indie so much that it doesn't even make sense anymore. There's no indie game on the switch2 and there was none on the switch 1 anyway. Nothing is self-published on the platform and Nintendo take their cut on any game.

So far: not really, most are no longer available legally on modern platforms. Second hand copies don't give anything to their original authors.

So does Steam, GoG and EGS: Indie games are still technically published on these platforms with a cut of the price. Technically speaking any self published game (on the Switch or any console) is indie.

PS: The only indie games so far I got for free were World of Goo (that I've ended up buying like 3 separate times) and Rogue Legacy (which I've played one playthrough then deleted it from my drive because I wasn't fan of it).

The repo would be safe as long as they're not trying to host Switch nor Switch 2 games.

It's obvious that piracy of current gen/sold consoles are the best way to get issues with lawyers. Yuzu's staff really should've let TotK as it seems that showing it could run the game before release would bring troubles.

I appreciate the answer but it's incomplete. My real intention is to get how you feel about being able to get the game for Switch 100% physical but for Switch 2 the only option is to get it game-key format, when you can upgrade the Switch version to Switch 2 version.

This is the core of the feeling I want the people who bought the new console share with me.

Hard copium there once again.

You argue that second hand copies dont give anything to the original authors. Then guess what... If the game isnt self-published, how much of the money you spend on it goes to the creator of the game? 3%? 5%?

You should get off of your high horse sometimes to see the reality of things. The Repo or any other site isn't safe, and it's completely delusionnal to think Yuzu wouldnt have been taken down for this or for that. They took Citra down as well. You dont pirate 3DS games, IkaGura?

Yuzu has been taken down because Valve put it on their store, and Nintendo's lawyer army took the most efficient route to hinder the progress of their competitor. It's a battle between giants, fed by tiny minuscule paypigs.

As for now Not Much Families with little kids bought the Switch2, when cheaper Switch1 is still available.

I feel strange sometimes, because I see many people in west buy Switch and most of people are male. In Japan is the opposite, Switch and other Nintendo portable devices sold a lot to men, but usually women buy them more, specially if they have kids. And they tend to buy one for their kids and one for them, it's not like our culture of "sharing" something because a "family" product needs to be shared by default (where does it say that?). I've met some families with "a little bit" of money that even buy one for every kid and one for the mother.

That's why Nintendo, at least in Japan, focuses on women and kids in its marketing. But don't misunderstand me, I am not saying Nintendo promotes "cute" games for children and women, because girls in Japan play Dragon Quest and other "serious" games, even the little ones :D.

Lets be honest 90% of Nitendogames are Mario, Pokemon, Donkey, Kirby etc are Toy/ kiddy characters and family/party games.
Nowadays in West, the local natives ratio are declining and Not Family oriented, less marriages, less kids only 1 or 2 p.f., more divorces thus more singles, where else the immigrants having more families and more than 2, 3 + kids.
More Men are buying Nint, Switch etc. is probably they can hacked it and get games free, thats West!

I do bought nds, 3ds, wii u, switch1 to hack and mod myself and free games downloaded.
You know the 3ds and switch1 can software overclocked performance increase faster, no more choppy low fps and screen brightness/contrast/rgb white balance mod, can be finetuned to perfection.
If above wasnt possible I will nintendont have them for full prices.

The home screen is 1080p regardless of what output resolution you choose in the settings. Fast Racing's image quality looks bad in every mode except the 30fps mode. Whatever upscaling method they're using (DLSS?) completely kills the image quality with a fast moving image. Lots of artifacts.

Yeah, but apart from Nintendo games Switch has many "exclusives". Many of them have been released for PC, and that's something we all celebrate, but there are some others that will remain in Nintendo. PS5 or Xbox exclusives are like...almost extinct. And one of the reasons is the absurd and nonsensical war between PC masterrace and desktop consoles. Switch stands away from that, for obvious reasons, but it also allows developers to create a game for a more "exclusive" device. Is it good? well, I would prefer to be able to play everything on PC as well, of course, but if I have to choose between the catalogue of Switch, PS5 or Xbox, I would choose Switch's hands down. I know it's not a good example, because on the other hand I would choose PS4 catalogue if I could.

I am a person who does not care about how "beautiful" a game looks, and those kids and women either, and Nintendo knows. But I also have to clarify that regarding families and kids, Japan is in way worse situation than western countries. While men have no time nor will to have a relationship with a girl, girls are looking for men but can't find.

What I want to say, for Nintendo western market is big, but they continue being very japanese, and that works perfectly for Japan, and I kind of like it. Everyone in there go to the store, buy the stuff, go back home and enjoy whatever they have bought, if they have enough time. It's a very consumist country but it's very respectful and barely does not care about hacks or other stuff, because their lives are based on doing the "right thing". It has some pros and cons, but I can assure you it's worth it. I barely saw any scalpers regarding the Switch 2 launch for instance, because their ways of distribution and assignation of goods and services are made to make it difficult. And that extrapolates to other things, such as concert tickets or some other limited spectacles. They also have a strong anti reselling law, and any local suspecting you are doing that can call the police and they come, I assure you they do. And the least that can happen is a big fine, you even can go to jail.

What happens in west? scalper galore. You report it, and police starts laughing because it's a "toy". Western markets are based on "the more money, the better, regardless if we fuck somebody in the way".

I would change most of the horrendous western practices in favour of not being able to hack a Switch or a PS4. They don't even have the stupid stock issues we have in west, with most of anime games going up in price like crazy just because they are anime and probably RPG. I've bought dozens of games that were long time ago out of stock, second hand, for 3-4€ each. Many of them RPG's that cost 40-50€ or more in west because they are in english. And everytime I buy them in Japan second hand, they look like new. Most of the western counterparts are poorly kept, have scratches on disk or even the cover has dust or other imperfections, but hey!, they have the "shamelessness" of telling you "near mint condition".

Videogames in Japan are cheap, and it's a wonderful market, aeons better than any western country. Of course you have many games that are outrageously expensive, but you also want to check their condition. Shops and sellers that sell those kind of games are terribly honest. Can't say the same for western markets.

So, after all this crappy explanation on why there is almost no piracy in Japan, I will say that Nintendo does not need us to continue selling games. They would just sell them in their country, and the business would become something niche, as in the 90's.

Damn .... that was fast.

They are japanese, very japanese. That's included in their idiosyncrasy. Although Nintendo is a very extreme case :O

Okay, the bitter comment was directed to you specifically, because you are coming off as an unhappy person and you have this paranoia that pirating older games will no longer happen because Nintendo successfully released a new console.

And you're right, I don't buy all remakes but I at least try to support some devs when I can, which include remakes and indie games, as someone else mentioned. And that also includes paying for new games because I want to support my gaming hobby.

It sounds more like you don't want to pay for anything if you can get away with it and claim anyone else who doesn't is trying to act better than you, which is pure projection on your part.

And honestly I don't have an issue with you or anyone else not buying games. I was like you once, I didn't pay for games and would scour the internet for .exe cracks (I miss the chiptune key generators). I was in my 20s and didn't have the disposable income to buy new games, and especially new consoles. You may be in a similar situation right now and for that I have nothing against you doing what you need to do to be able to enjoy gaming. The moment I took issue was when you began spouting vitriol and labeling anyone who wasn't on your hate train.

How about we make amends here and show other members we can have different opinions without being disparaging? I get your concern about Nintendo's hard stance on piracy. I'm sorry if I come across as hand waving your concerns. But I've been around long enough to see when it comes to piracy, its always a catch-up game for companies. When one site goes down, another rises from the ashes. And honestly, worst case scenario, these repo's will live on in the dark web, if they aren't already there.

Inappropriate behavior

I'm not reading all that hon... You got a TLDR? Or you're so bored with your switch 2 you started to write novels on forums instead of playing it? XD

On page 2 of this troll thread you wrote :
"Some people here are absolutely frothing at the mouth that other people are enjoying the Switch 2. The name calling and labeling are definitely symptoms of projecting."

Turns out it was you projecting all along. One of the key to happiness would be to start acting according to your principles. Less cognitive dissonance. But oh, for that you'd have to start to show some self-restraint and stop buying every next shit, and then fight everyone who don't as if it was a personal insult. XD Can you paypig become a happy freepig like me? Gruik gruik? XD

But for $10 cheaper I could buy an OLED Steam Deck. Which is a fully functioning handheld PC that gives me access to the vast majority of PC games in existence as well as a huge swath of all the console games in existence including the switch 1. What reason do I have to buy an expensive Nintendo branded phone with custom firmware?
My thoughts exactly. Why get a console that can play limited games when you can get one that has support for a lot of PC games as well as anything pre-ps3 era?
