Lets be honest 90% of Nitendogames are Mario, Pokemon, Donkey, Kirby etc are Toy/ kiddy characters and family/party games.
Nowadays in West, the local natives ratio are declining and Not Family oriented, less marriages, less kids only 1 or 2 p.f., more divorces thus more singles, where else the immigrants having more families and more than 2, 3 + kids.
More Men are buying Nint, Switch etc. is probably they can hacked it and get games free, thats West!
I do bought nds, 3ds, wii u, switch1 to hack and mod myself and free games downloaded.
You know the 3ds and switch1 can software overclocked performance increase faster, no more choppy low fps and screen brightness/contrast/rgb white balance mod, can be finetuned to perfection.
If above wasnt possible I will nintendont have them for full prices.
Yeah, but apart from Nintendo games Switch has many "exclusives". Many of them have been released for PC, and that's something we all celebrate, but there are some others that will remain in Nintendo. PS5 or Xbox exclusives are like...almost extinct. And one of the reasons is the absurd and nonsensical war between PC masterrace and desktop consoles. Switch stands away from that, for obvious reasons, but it also allows developers to create a game for a more "exclusive" device. Is it good? well, I would prefer to be able to play everything on PC as well, of course, but if I have to choose between the catalogue of Switch, PS5 or Xbox, I would choose Switch's hands down. I know it's not a good example, because on the other hand I would choose PS4 catalogue if I could.
I am a person who does not care about how "beautiful" a game looks, and those kids and women either, and Nintendo knows. But I also have to clarify that regarding families and kids, Japan is in way worse situation than western countries. While men have no time nor will to have a relationship with a girl, girls are looking for men but can't find.
What I want to say, for Nintendo western market is big, but they continue being very japanese, and that works perfectly for Japan, and I kind of like it. Everyone in there go to the store, buy the stuff, go back home and enjoy whatever they have bought, if they have enough time. It's a very consumist country but it's very respectful and barely does not care about hacks or other stuff, because their lives are based on doing the "right thing". It has some pros and cons, but I can assure you it's worth it. I barely saw any scalpers regarding the Switch 2 launch for instance, because their ways of distribution and assignation of goods and services are made to make it difficult. And that extrapolates to other things, such as concert tickets or some other limited spectacles. They also have a strong anti reselling law, and any local suspecting you are doing that can call the police and they come, I assure you they do. And the least that can happen is a big fine, you even can go to jail.
What happens in west? scalper galore. You report it, and police starts laughing because it's a "toy". Western markets are based on "the more money, the better, regardless if we fuck somebody in the way".
I would change most of the horrendous western practices in favour of not being able to hack a Switch or a PS4. They don't even have the stupid stock issues we have in west, with most of anime games going up in price like crazy just because they are anime and probably RPG. I've bought dozens of games that were long time ago out of stock, second hand, for 3-4€ each. Many of them RPG's that cost 40-50€ or more in west because they are in english. And everytime I buy them in Japan second hand, they look like new. Most of the western counterparts are poorly kept, have scratches on disk or even the cover has dust or other imperfections, but hey!, they have the "shamelessness" of telling you "near mint condition".
Videogames in Japan are cheap, and it's a wonderful market, aeons better than any western country. Of course you have many games that are outrageously expensive, but you also want to check their condition. Shops and sellers that sell those kind of games are terribly honest. Can't say the same for western markets.
So, after all this crappy explanation on why there is almost no piracy in Japan, I will say that Nintendo does not need us to continue selling games. They would just sell them in their country, and the business would become something niche, as in the 90's.
Damn .... that was fast.
I think Nintendos confidence and Ego got a HUGE and PAINFUL hit .
Nintendo thought outsmarting modders and pirates is possible till it backfired in record-time .
Please Nintendo ... do more silly stuff and naive thoughts . I love this kind of corporate slap-stick comedy .
They are japanese, very japanese. That's included in their idiosyncrasy. Although Nintendo is a very extreme case :O
