No love for The Darkside Chronicles? I thought it was actually pretty neat for a Wii "lightgun-shooter". Absolutely love how cinematic it is: you can tell Cavia put a lot of effort into the presentation. And it's way more fun than Umbrella Chronicles ever got.
I love both of those games. I actually prefer Umbrella Chronicles gameplay wise, I found that Darkside used to much shaky cam and it made it far too hard to actually hit things. The game's Darkside covered are way better though, the CV and 3 chapters were awesome.

Also I'm praying to every deity that has ever been worshipped that if CV:R happens, we'll still have Wesker's kitty-cat eyes.
I don't see why they wouldn't, they kept them in 5 and I think he even had them in the stinger at the end of 4make.

add in a twist that Alexia is actually mind-controlling him from her capsule using her freaky T-Veronica powers.
I'm surprised that's not the way it was in the original, it just makes sense honestly. I was expecting that the whole time, then it turned out to just be nothing.

I still can't wrap my head around Claire announcing "There never WAS an Alexia after all!". Claire ... you just watched a home movie featuring both of the Ashford Twins on-screen ... together!
The Redfield's definitely aren't known for being the smartest people, let's be honest.

What's everyone's stance on the Revelations games? I personally think the second game is really underrated, and wasn't a terrible big fan of the first on (other than wetsuit Jill).

I LOVE the Revelations games! Bought them both on PS3, then again on PS4 (back when I still had a job and could afford to). Revelations 2 is maybe my favourite RE game of all time. Raid mode is like a game unto itself, and I love the whole story with Moira and Natalia. Sad that we might never get a follow up to Alex Wesker still being around at the end of REV2. Or the stinger at the end of REV1.

I'd be fine with them keeping the Alfred Psycho twist, as long as they hired a better voice actor for the role.
Claire definitely has some choice moments.

The issue is that it really is just Psycho; not even necessarily with extra steps. And taking the parts of Psycho where a man wears a dress to pose as a family member and nothing else does not a good antagonist make. I mean, Alfred's the one you interract with the most throughout the game: Wesker takes a while to get there, and Alexia is central but not really present until the very end. For me, the story really needs more for Alfred to do.

Also... The twins have a weird thing about bugs. The t-Veronica is bugs. His sister's final form is bugs. The theme of metamorphosis is right there. Maybe they had a thing for switching places as young kids, in a weird twin way, fucking with people etc, and already it feels like there's more to Alfred than being a Psycho reference; there's more to the dual personality than "he just really liked his sister, ok".

I don't see why they wouldn't, they kept them in 5 and I think he even had them in the stinger at the end of 4make.
I meant "keep them as kitty-like as they were in CV". 5 tries to make him look all badass, and you can barely see them in 4R.

Rev1 is... fine. The episodic format and the split narrative really grind my gears though. I feel like I'm barely making any progress at all. My opinion of wetsuit Jill is "I liked the bob better", but things turned out all right for me.

Rev2 I still haven't finished, but I like the assymetry in the gameplay, with Moira/Natalia playing support, although that makes Solo play even more undesirable than RE5&6. The episodes are cut a bit better, and the progression is less repetitive. I'm also loving the way Claire is portrayed in this one: you can actually see on her model that she's aged since Raccoon City, that she's gone through stuff (being in a life-or-death apocalyptic situation would age you quite a bit), and the script is pretty good at relaying that too. From what I've seen, the characterization in general was the best in the series before the remake era. Not so sure about the plot at large, but I'm not asking for much in that department.

Original Resident Evil 4, surprised it’s not number 1 on this poll.
Id have been more shocked if 2 wasn't at the top to be honest. It's the one people seem to have the strongest nostalgia for in my experience.

4 got me into the series. Honestly, I haven't played....really any of the other ones. I should get to that.

4 is the only one I really liked. The others I tried and didn’t care for. 5 and 6 I actively disliked. 7 and 8 I’ve yet to try.

From what I know 7 and 8 are pretty good but thats based on everyone else’s opinion so I’d give them a try

Also I don’t understand why so many Mods are in this and the Monster Hunter forum 😂, I’m happy though

I think you’re doing great haha

7 and 8 are pretty good
I'd say they're pretty good. 7 is an objectively great game, but i didn't play it until much later as it just wasn't a RE game to me so I got filtered for a little bit. It's a great game like I said though, just very different from the any of the other eras of RE games. 8 was fantastic though, and more my style; really recommend Village.

Hell yeah my dude. Raid was a great Mercenaries replacement, loved the different characters and skills in it. HUNK of course stole the show, as he always does.

I agree, but it made sense given that it was originally a handheld exclusive. You'd play for a bit on the bus or whatever, put it down then come back to it. Even outside of that it is was just sort of 'meh' to me, there wasn't much to it and the story was incomprehensible, even for the series.

I get that argument; but I feel like that particular problem would be solved with more checkpoints, not wretching the entire narrative backwards on a regular basis.

For sure. It was a weird decision in a weird game.

Plus, everyone knows the best 3DS RE game was The Mercenaries.

I still don't know how they can't get a resident evil movie right. All the components are there for a fun action/horror movie but they still can't do it.

Guys ngl im kinda stuck in RE1 remake
It's a hard game, even compared to others in the series. Where are you stuck?

It's really true, it baffles me too. Just imagine if they actually made a genuine adaptation of RE2 in the middle of the zombie movie craze? The Jovovich movies are obviously famously terrible (the first one, to it's credit, wasn't that bad) but even the other attempts like Welcome to Raccoon City fumbled it somehow. The biggest thing is they always seem to shy away from a straight adaptation, and change something fundamental about the set-up which is a strange move.

Really makes me curious about the rejected George Romero RE2 script in '98, the one that got turned down by Capcom. There's a documentary that came out about it recently I have yet to watch, but plan on.

I guess the third one, really fun game.

RE Vendetta got there for me. It was driven by beloved characters (Rebecca? Yes please), the action scenes were balls-to-the-wall but still felt tense and believable in the context of... Chris and Leon post RE6, and the story tried just hard enough. "Random traumatized BOW-loving dude wants to destroy the planet and is being weird about it".

Those CQC scenes are still embedded in my brain.

Loved RE1 (PSX) and beated it with both Jill & Chris. I plan on playing it again one of these days.

Couldn't get into RE2 whatsoever.

Never played RE3.

Liked Survivor (PSX), I firmly believe it is a good game for what it is.

Resident Evil 4 is a masterpiece and one of the greatests games ever made and I will die on that hill. The greatest briefcase organizing simulator too, flawless stuff.

To be honest i dont know, i got the blue gem, mansion key and the first emblem you get. Other than that i dont know what else to do but explore

It's been a hot minute, but I believe the emblem gets swapped with another emblem in the dining room on the first floor? (Also if you examine the mansion keys you can find out which one you have, there's four in the game I think.)
