first original PS5 model, my friend got day 1 pre-ordered, he got a Pro PS5 and just gave me his old one.
already thoroughly cleaned it, just been playing my "massive" PS4 library which does NOT shut my console off apparently (and a few PS5 games don't, depends how intense the graphics go)
none of my ps4 games shut the PS5 off though, and i got a LOT of PS4 games so it's whatever,
plus i got a better PC anyways.

It's why i've been advocating for games like Rushing Beat X and Gungrave GORE (after its massive updates). Or championing games like Evil West. I find it more than just okay.

I'd still argue that subversion doesn't make everything systematically more interesting and that being different and being better aren't mutually exclusive.

True, just look at the first Persona. Probably one of the weirdest and most subversive MegaTen games out there. Still clunky as all hell though.

My PS5 does exactly the same thing. Purchased day 1, kept it clean and well maintained. One day without warning it shut down instantly whilst playing Marvel's Spider-Man for PS5. Shuts down instantly with no overheating warning, or any other type of warning for that matter. Lasted less than a month before the issues began. Rang Sony and they said they'd repair it...for £250.

Worst PlayStation console ever. Shit UI, shit apps, no internet browser, unwieldy shape, can't even play the games it was supposedly designed for. Only good things about is that it's quiet and has the best modern controller in the Dualsense.

Oh well. Like you, I used it as inspiration to finally save up to build my own PC. Gaming life has been good since. :D

I never threw any tantrums to begin with. Disagreements and some barbs? Yes. Tantrums? No. Also I didn't insult everyone on here. My ire was only directed at those who started it or acting like jerks to begin with. I get along with most people on here fine. If you can't bother to remember that, or only remember the bad things and that's on you.

I thought Capcom would break new grounds with this one, but just like how Death Stranding seemed like this big new innovator until we got the game, the mystery disappeared, and it turned out to just be a fedEX walking simulator, I have now once and for all learned my lesson that nothing is special or unique anymore.

Maybe you just hyped it much more than you should have?

I mean, the gaming market lives by its marketing nowadays. With longer and longer development cycles, the only way they can keep the public interested is by hyping the game up via marketing but it can create unrealistic expectations.

Just take Cyberpunk 2077 for a exemple, disregarding its disastrous launch, it was hyped up as this technological milestone that would be the second coming of gaming christ but ended up just being a normal game, nothing really different from what we are used to. Don't get me wrong, Cyberpunk is good now but people tought it would change gaming forever. It didn't.

If we look closely, there are many exemples: Death Stranding, Final Fantasy XV, the Final Fantasy VII Remake, Watch_Dogs, the list goes on. All good/great games that were overhyped and, although good, weren't gaming changing as people tought they would be.

Just imagine Half Life 3. Is there any possible way it could match the hype people created around it? It would never.

We are actually witenessing one case happening right now with GTA VI. Only time will tell.

If I have a negative experience with something and I feel like talking about it, it'd feel disingenuous to speak in flowery terms about it. Still, thanks for pointing it out. I try not to make a habit of it. :]

Is it the worst?... yes, yes it is. as a current owner I agree with that.

I've been a lifelong PlayStation fan, and I hope for everyone's sake their next console is as huge a leap forward as their earlier consoles were. Powerful, indestructible and bolstered by a brilliant first and third-party library of excellent games. But never again will I be buying a day 1 console. I'll wait for them to iron out the kinks first.

Personally I thought it's just okay, solid 3rd person bullet hell shooter with relatively decent plot. Not outstanding, but still pretty good at delivering what it is.

When so many people concurrently agree that something is great, I tend to gaslight myself into believinh that I'm just being the bitter contrarian for the sake of it, yet after playing Pragmata that I had waited 6 years for since its first teaser in 2020 - then 4 years of silence which gave it a sort of mythical status - to its release here a couple weeks ago... I feel it wasn't the unique pioneer I had dreamed it up to be.

Don't get me wrong, it delivered what it promised: this new hybrid og gunning and hacking, but in a gaming world LITTERED with 3rd person shooters and father-daughter/son stories, I had hoped for/expected something a bit deeper and more fleshed out. I am not sure what exactly I hoped for or expected, but I have this nagging feeling that, while a fine enough surface-level experience - The Last of Us but in space - it really doesn't bring anything new we haven't already seen or feels like a 6 year game, which is why (my cynical side talking) the made Diana the poster girl, because they knew that at least cuteness sells and controversy is free marketing.

Pragmata is decent to good third person shooter that was blown out of proportion by a very loud minority online. The game is fun but nothing amazing.

And I thought the Switch joy-con controller drift or me having to send my old Steam Deck to Valve because it shut off and got left on a boot screen in the middle of Mega Serval was bad...
They really didn't learn from the PS3, did they? When can we expect a PS5 Slim?

The redemption arc already happened. As for Legends, while I wish for the best I don't think that third game is ever happening.
