One case for me is the Smash series. I know it's wildly popular and everything, but I could never take it seriously in the slightest. It strikes me (no pun intended) as a party game rather than a fighting game.
I definitely echo this. And definitely Kingdom Hearts.
After the first one? BasedEvery Call Of Duty after the first one.
Final Fantasy, too.
And definitely Kingdom Hearts.
Long af lol, but I agree with some of itThat’s an awesome thread idea, Burner.
An easy knockout would be western rpgs. Why? Simple. I’m so easy to please that even sport games can entertain me, but not WRPGs. They’re not for me, nuh uh.
I can’t get into any multiplayer game period. Not because they’re bad or anything, I’m sure TF2 is a great game but I can never see myself finding the time for them. Plus I’m past their heyday and I prefer games I can play any time. Online games don’t have assurance.
2D Mario I don’t get into for some reason.
The crash bandicoot trilogy is weird, I played them countless time, never left an impression on me. Played all crash games except twinsanity. Maybe that one will change my mind… Spyro I don’t care about either.
I love final fantasy on a moment to moment basis but as a whole I’m not really a loyalist
I can’t get into the character action genre. Doesn’t seem that interesting. If I want challenge, I can play turn based, a shooter, a platformer or an action rpg.
Even though dark souls might be my favorite action rpg, the “soulslike” genre isn’t for me. I can’t get into nioh either. Heck, I even found Sekiro, Bloodborne and Elden Ring to not be that interesting.
I adore call of duty so much, but I can’t get into battlefield.
I love WWE, but the NJPW games aren’t my thing
Gta is my favorite franchise ever but “similar games” don’t grab. Didn’t like mafia, thought sleeping dogs was ok and saints row is not for me.
Spider-Man on ps4 looks so uninteresting. Spider-Man on ps2 looks more fun.
I still have not found a Batman game I like. But i should try ps1 and ps2.
Lego games I can’t enjoy no matter how much I try.
PES and FIFA are fun but captain tsubasa I still can’t find games I like but I’m gonna try the ps1 game.
Never enjoyed any Mario kart game. Sonic has better racing games.
I love Tetris and Puyo and even bomberman, but classic Pac-Man isn’t. I prefer Pac-Man world.
Street fighter is fun, but marvel vs Capcom is uninteresting.
Momodora and a hat in time are phenomenal indies, but other indies like Shovel knight or hollow knight I don’t really like.
I really need one tales of game to like. Just one. Hopefully the ps1 games will convince me.
Budokai Tenkaichi is not the best dragon ball series. It’s budokai.
I can’t get behind the popularity of the GameCube Naruto games. It’s too random. Especially when ps2 Naruto has romhacks with expanded roster that goes to pre-war arc.
Kingdom hearts stopped being fun after kh2.
Berserk Dreamcast is too popular. Berserk ps2 is waaaay better.

@RageBurner sorry for writing a lot lmao. A lot of thoughts just randomly started pouring out.
I enjoyed Vigilante 8 quite a bit. We need more vehicular combat if you ask me.Twisted metal, i love vehicular combat games but dont like twisted metal
even though most people would say its king of that genre
imo Vigilante 8 is king
I also think smash is a party game.It strikes me (no pun intended) as a party game rather than a fighting game
Grand theft auto series. Feels like I'm playing the same game doing the same thing wrapped in a different skin.
I also think smash is a party game.
Far Cry 1, 2 and 3 is pretty good though but after that it feels like nothing's changed or the difference is smalloh that reminds me of Far Cry, once you've played one game you've played em all pretty much
but i admit i do like my GTA
Oh think nothing of it! it's fun to share thoughts. Let's see if I can respond in kind. That’s an awesome thread idea, Burner.

Thx, very much appreciate the long reply. I like the thoughts that overlap.Oh think nothing of it! it's fun to share thoughts. Let's see if I can respond in kind.
- I don't like western RPGs either.
- I like multiplayer games that are cooperative, not competitive.
- I don't care for either Spyro or Crash, but I do like 2D Mario.
- My liking of FF is not franchise wide, depends on entry. Anything past 12 I don't care for.
- I'm not sure what you mean by character action.
- I tend to prefer 2D Soulslikes to 3D ones (Blasphemous and The Last Faith are phenomenal).
- I'm not one for military FPSes.
- Wrestling games never interested me much.
- GTA and its adjacents aren't for me.
- I haven't played a Spidey game in a long time, no real opinion, but I tend to dislike open world games due to lack of depth.
- Same as above, though it seems to be the Arkham series has the right tone.
- Same for Lego. I love the actual toy, but the games feel like flanderizations of whatever subject matter they are addressing.
- I deeply dislike soccer as a sport, so no opinion there.
- Agreed, I prefer the Sonic racing games.
- I like block matching puzzles too, never liked any Pac-Man though.
- I don't like MvC much either.
- Shovel Knight is pure gold in my book, the spinoffs too.
- I like 3 or 4 Tales games the most, but there's probably one for everyone.
- I do prefer Tenkaichi to Budokai, always have.
- I fell out of love with Naruto halfway through Shipuuden, and the games after the PS2/GC era, they all seemed to play the same, anyway.
- I never liked KH, I don't think I ever will.
- DC Berserk is an unplayable mess, the PS2 one is awesome.
Ahh, so that's what it is, got it. Well, then, to answer that, I don't like character action games much, and for Musou games it depends very much on the theme: Chinese characters, no. Anime adjacent Musous like Gundam, Hokuto no Ken and Berserk, yes.Thx, very much appreciate the long reply. I like the thoughts that overlap.
To explain some stuff on my part, I actually tend to prefer saying “hack n slash” over “character action” because the former is more recognizable, the problem however is that it causes dynasty warriors, my other favorite franchise of All time, to get lumped with devil may cry, Bayonetta, metal gear rising, godhand, the games I actually don’t care for (but don’t necessarily hate) (although a lot of people just call DW a musou now, buT it’s still easy to mix up terms)
All three you’ve mentioned are quite underrated and really fun. Gundam had this complex friendship system. Berserk band of the hawk was pretty faithful to the manga and Hokuto no Ken: Ken’s Rage might be the best HnK game, and it’s a really awesome beat ‘em up in general.Ahh, so that's what it is, got it. True for me in all three cases. I like exactly 1 Zelda game and that's OoT. As for Persona, it doesn't click for me either, I prefer SMT.fate series
zelda, i cant really enjoy the series (except minish cap)
persona, umm... its good, but idk, it just didnt 'click' with me
i was about to say the same thing- My liking of FF is not franchise wide, depends on entry. Anything past 12 I don't care for.
I've just bought a used xbox 360 at €30 JUST to finally play FF13 because I never had a chance, and I enjoyed a lot!!! In opposite, I tried FF12 four times (two on ps2 and two on switch) and always abandoned it: it never clicked, the gambit system it's definitely not for me.i was about to say the same thing
haha well im glad you liked 13, i never really gave it a fair chance tbhAww, I've just bought a used xbox 360 at €30 JUST to finally play FF13 because I never had a chance, and I enjoyed a lot!!! It's hard for me to like 13. Nothing about it appeals to me, not exaggerating there. I've yet to dedicate serious time to 12 but I like it, and I agree fully that 15 and onward FF just became run of the mill action games, so sad.haha well im glad you liked 13, i never really gave it a fair chance tbh
i think the transforming motorbike boss is what put me off, it just didn't feel like a FF game to me
and yeah i know what you mean about the gambit system in 12 it seems way too easy & boring once everything is automated. cant beat the plain old turn based battle system imo
these days FF games look more like Devil May Cry style hack n slashers XD
