GBA Pokemon Emerald's Eight (Hack) GBA

So The early development of the generation 3 pokemon games where a little strange with many ideas to change things up being floated such as having 5 move slots and having a party size of 8. This romhack brings back the idea of having 8 slots in the pokemon party but is other wise unaltered from the base game with some new encounters

While I don't know every single hack ever, stuff like ROWE and Emerald Extended rely on allowing the player to explore the continents from past games rather than substantially modifying Hoenn into a more open continent. To give an example, I am thinking in something akin 2D Zelda, where basically you can explore every inch...

Emerald Extended actually shoves Hoenn, Kanto, and the sevii islands into one map which is pretty interesting but personally I prefer less cluttered hacks. I get what you're saying though I think. Not sure how feasible that is on the GBA considering rom hacks can only use a certain amount of space.

Oooooh I get what you mean now, yeah there is a LOT of space to be expanded there
Unless of course its another case of fake "empty" spaces, dunno if its like that in Emerald but in FR/LG there are a lot of spaces like that that look free to be remapped until you open a tileset editor and realize they are hardcoded to be not editable.

As for the former, if you're using this map to demonstrate the empty space in hoenn, you should check out pokemon emerald extended cut. Here.

Extra dungeons are already a thing unless I am misreading your post and you meant something else

There are literally dozens of hacks that do this (Click here if you want to be amazed). I think what you're getting at though is there are a metric poopton of hacks that are based around more...niche gimmicks like this. I tend to avoid the more uninspired hacks tbh.

With all those thousands of hacks I am surprised no one has made an Emerald version that fills all the inaccessible spaces of the Hoenn island adding new routes, shortcuts and dungeons.

There are literally dozens of hacks that do this (Click here if you want to be amazed). I think what you're getting at though is there are a metric poopton of hacks that are based around more...niche gimmicks like this. I tend to avoid the more uninspired hacks tbh.

Renev and Delta are also some good hacks for emerald. They're like a revamped version of the exact same game, Qol stuff..
