Sheesh, only two guesses? I’ll take that as being because I chose a really excellent, hard-to-find game, and not because everyone hates my guts. YOUR HINTS, AS PROMISED:

• Medisinn was right in thinking that’s it’s a licensed game — specially, one based on a TV and/or movie series.
• It’s not on a Nintendo console.
• The property that it’s based on, and the game itself, have a light sci-fi theme.
• And finally, there’s a clue somewhere in the top half of that screenshot which should tip you off to the IP’s main character.

I think you're onto something...

Interestingly, that's in the repo, and while the US version is called "Super Ninja Boy" (Japanese concept), the original Japanese version was called Super Chinese World

I don't think that's the right title, but probably the right series. There's a different game on the NES, though these graphics make me think it's an arcade game. Huh, that's interesting, cultural differences I suppose. Though "Super Chinese World" makes it sound like a ripoff of Super Mario World, and it isn't really from what I played.

Ding ding dong! You're right! This version from GBA. It's called Super Chinese 1+2 Advance. The English name sounds like Little Ninja Brothers. Super Ninja Boy is one of the parts of the series with the same characters.
