I had a PS1 demo disc with this and other games on it I played compulsively as a kid

It's been a day with no guess's, so a couple hints:

It's an Arcade and PS2 game, and is *mostly* Japanese exclusive (barring an obscure PAL region port)

The primary gameplay gimmick being a sword that can both deflect bullets and attack all enemies on the screen.
