Pet Peeves

I hate my own mistakes... especially those that hurt other people...
I have lost a friend two times because of my mistakes... šŸ˜”
Sorry! I never saw this.

We all make mistakes, that's why every pencil comes with an eraser (bit corny, I know, but I always liked that saying).

You are a wonderful dude, and I'm willing to bet that those mistakes you talk about are simple misunderstandings. But if not, you can always try and mend the relationship later, once the the dust has settled a little.

I used to be extremely prideful, and that cost me dearly on the friendship department, but I later in life learned that bending my neck and asking for forgiveness was a true sign of strength, instead of weakness.

You got this, champ!

Thank you!

There's a quote I really like that says that maturity is never complete, it's an ongoing process... and I didn't get started until after my teens. I was very much a prideful, hateful individual before that.

I'm very grateful that you think that :)

Folks, please:

If you're referring to multiple anime series, you can just say "anime", not "animes". If you need to get more specific, use "anime series". Examples:

  • "I was watching a few different anime series the other day."
  • "I quite enjoy how magical girl anime are growing more numerous."
  • "I knew this guy who spent all his time wanking off to ecchi anime."
Every time I see the word "animes", it's like a drill bit being pressed directly into my annoyance gland. For the good of the English language, do your part: drop the "s".

Well, i'm not a native english, so i don't mind completely destroying its grammar rules in my sentence! šŸ”„
But to make you happy, i'll go with "Anime(plural but no 's' here)" from now on. šŸ˜‰

When I have to pause or repeat sentences in an anime because I should know the word, phrase or context in Japanese

I fucking ā€Šhate when Zoomers are too uneducated to know the difference between Gen X behavior and Boomer behavior.

You stupid little shit, Gen X hates Boomers!
Boomers are the ā€ŠReagan era! How is that at all the same?

OK, Xoomer.

My pet peeve is that everything digital now has to divisible by 4:
  • Speaker Volume? 20.
  • Windows volume? 100.
  • Design grid? 12x12
  • Design canvas? 1440x1440px
  • Print resolution? 144px/cm
  • Thumbnail size on Directory opus? 128px
  • Distance between two nodes in a node-based image editor? 4 dots.
  • Old PIN Numbers? Was divisible by 4.

I absolutely hate when people say ā€œjust my opinion butā€ then say something horribly rude or offensive

Plus if they shame you for not holding the same view or acting like itā€™s how everyone thinks

I often wonder if they know it's rude. Some people are just like that. I have a relative that intentionally riles people up because he hates himself. He even admitted it.

Gen X kinda gets forgotten about. I'm not surprised that zoomers just lump them in with boomers. But we aren't the same.

No, they're not the same at all, and that's why it pisses me off so much. They're fundamentally different, all their values are completely different from each other, varying more within Gen X than the Baby Boomers but still.

How can they be this stupid? It's really mind-blowing to me, as a late Gen X'er as I like to consider myself, since my values are closer to that of someone from Gen X than my own generation.

Zoomers just don't have values.

I cannot decide if this is worse than someone straight up telling their opinion as if it was a factual thing.

I know that it's mostly a matter of education but usually a parent should say "don't say it's trash but that you don't like it" when it comes to things that are subjective.

Many people (especially online since there's anonymity coming into play) consider their point of view as the reality when it's about the convergence of points of view that defines things (this is why the scientific method always require more than just one person to approve a new theory, the scientific community is important to verify and make something valid).

I'm no psychologist but maybe some people are being narcissistic and think they are always in the right (or bend reality to fit their view).

This is why we end up having people using logical fallacies (especially strawman and ad hominem) to make their opponent appear to be the fool in the debate instead of accepting any counterargument.
