I know this is just a teaser, and we obviously can't tell much off of it, but I'm getting some darker, horror vibes from this, which I think could be a refreshing new direction to take for a Persona game (personally, I've been wanting them to go back to a more darker tone similar to what they had in the P2 games and P3). Hopefully it doesn't end up like P5 where they teased a darker game then completely scrapped everything and gave us essentially a P4 rerun.
Brothers are gonna be real disappointed when they show off the actual game and its another quirky high school adventure.
I see a lot of people who like the general style and presentation of these games that don't like the lame harem/self insert trappings and I don't expect those to go away given every game in that series since the first one is based around it in some way
Definitely leaning into a darker tone, akin to 3....perhaps even darker. Though they'd be hard pressed to surpass the bleakness of the P3 Dark Hour.
I'd actually be over the moon if this game let you play as a slightly older cast of characters. But I can already picture them going for a teen ghostbusting squad turn high school homicide detectives.
Seeing the teaser now, yeah this thing wont be out until the PS6 or that Project Helix is out, I do not trust them already to have it out on this current console cycle (unless this cycle becomes very very long). My only hope that with the shift a bit to the occult/horror, that maybe the cast will be young adults/university students. I'm very much one of those people who has gotten creeped out by the dating stuff with high schoolers (and also tired of the calendar system but that is sadly never going away with Persona anymore), so I just hope they shift the ages up a bit.
If they really want to make it eerie and depressing they should make it a midwest community college sim instead of a Japanese high school.
