Maybe only obscure in the USA since it didn't release here, but I used to play this a lot when I was first getting into emulation around 2000/2001.
DBZ was huge in America at that time and it felt so cool to play this "lost" dbz game from the SNES on my computer!

I don't think Heritage for the Future is *that* obscure these days at least among fighting game enthusiasts but I don't know anyone who knows of it and isn't super into retro fighting games
Mighty Morphin Power Ranges The Fighting Edition is one of my favorite fighting games of all time and I'm sad more people haven't heard of it

Really inventive meter mechanic combined with great animations and a fun character roster

Nobody's mentioned Dong Dong Never Die yet.
A game I badly want to play once I get my computer fixed. ?

I've been trying to find someone who could keep up with me on Ehrgeiz for ages so I can master the interrupts.
god same, gotta try to get people to hop on duckstation for that

This is why it's a masterpiece:

I find this game magnificent even for non-Jojo fans.
bro I LOVE tobal 2, that game's actually fantastic

well hey I'm always down for some ehrgeiz if you ever wanna play, can't guarantee I'd be good but I do love the game
Same, like I said I still have to master the interrupts.
If you wanted a challenge, we could play Soul Cal 2 or Melee. ?

I haven't touched fightcade since that one day I got absolutely BODIED on 3rd Strike. Those guys are cool but I don't think I'll ever get to that level.
Anyway, as far lesser known fighting games I like, first there's Advanced V.G. 2! I started that series as a joke but I ended up having a lot of fun with the second game.
Second, there's Gundam Wing Endless Duel for the SNES. It is *actually* the best fighting game on the system.

I haven't really encountered much toxicity on fightcade, but when I have it's always been in SF3. The smaller lobbies tend to be more chill when you can get games in em, and going in with friends helps mitigate a lot of the tilting

Fightcade is awesome, most of the people on there are too pro to care about talking shit.

I came across someone playing Zangief that I couldn't land a hit on, and after about 3 games of getting perfected I just gave up the game for awhile.

Not out of rage, more out of self-disappointment ?

I see people had already mentioned Under Night/Melty Blood (arcsys fighting games never miss ::blush)

....so I'll recommend Fighters Destiny for the N64.

Unique point system, fun stages, and once you get the hang of it It's very hard to put down in my opinion.

Even if i wasn't a hardcore fan of any of these animes (i think i have also only seen Dragon Ball Z at the time) I remember having a lot of fun playing this game on the PS2 with my school friends. It was kinda like a platform fighter but with a weird health-point system. I don't now if is actually that good but i have a little bit of fondness for it :3

Have dipped my toes in this recently its pretty fun with a fun intro video to go with it. There is a translation on the repo and makes an excellent conversation piece. Its like super smash bros x struggle from kh2.

second this, I played this game and had a great time with the small bit I played, was surprised to learn it's basically the spiritual predecessor to toy fighter since I was already in on that one

This game has some banger character designs.
any game with a good witch design gets an A+ in my book, and Remi is an AMAZING design
