Anime Obscure Anime

This is one of my favorite animes, I'm not sure how obscure it is (though I personally see it as such with a lack of discussion besides very sporadic fanart posting from JP twitter. It's a funny shonen about famous composers being reborn as "Classicaloids", and they can perform magic with music. It's a fun watch and its one of my unlike pipe dreams for "Please get a season 3!", although the twitter account is still somewhat active and last year, they did a classical music performance in Hamamatsu IIRC. It helped me get into classical music afterwards

So it's called Classicaloids?

Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo (yes, that's the actual name.)

not plural, but yes, I would recommend it
I can't say when or if I'm going to watch it since it's not currently on my plan to watch list.
You can check my profile, I called it "Manga Hidden Gems" so maybe that's why you didn't see it.
Yes, I see it and I replied to it on February 16th, post #9.

Has anyone seen the 2003 Astro Boy anime? I'm consistently wowed by the animation quality, every episode feels like I'm watching a movie.

I have:P Infact,i remember when the 2003 Astro Boy Remake premired on Kids WB in 2003 and than moved to Cartoon Network's Toonami Block, while it was heavially underated and didn;t get the full atention it deserved, which was only cancelled after a few episodes dued to low ratings (Same thing also happened with a similar case with SD Gundam Force, which came out the same year),but despite all of that, the 2003 series was somewhat still popular enough to spawn both a Game Boy Advance game and a playstation 2 game by Sega:P

This one is actually one I watched waaaaay back when I was in like 5th-6th grade, I liked it a lot and the plot is really well made. Pretty much it's a detective anime where the girl (pictured in the photo above) and the guy (also pictured in the photo) meet up at an auditorium/greenhouse where they discuss the unsolved crimes and later in the episode go the place where the crime happened and try to solve it. I don't know much other than that as It's been really long since I have seen it, but I do know that it's really good.

I love this one! Great show, although sadly it suffered towards the second half of the run. I loved every episode up until the Leviathan three part (which was itself fantastic). The ones after that felt like they took a sharp decline. Still, well worth watching IMO.

I mentioned it on the anime opening thread, but Wandering Witch is fantastic. The video there^ is a cool fight from the first episode. There aren't actually a huge number of fights in the show, and it's only 12 episodes long, but it is gorgeously animated, has great music, and I love the writing/stories/characters. I have the show dubbed, which I prefer, but I couldn't find the clip dubbed. If I had to pick one episode to recommend someone to watch, it'd probably be episode 4, The Princess Without Subjects, which is a good standalone. Episode 9, Deep Sorrow from the Past, is probably the most infamous one though.

Not entirely obscure I suppose but I would say that Time of Eve deserves more love.

Also maybe Gokusen. I don't see many if any people talk about it.

The starship troopers anime was pretty interesting. Especially compared to the hollywood movie.

Surprised no one mentioned Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World.

I don't think Re:zero is a very obscure anime, but who knows. I guess it depends on the niche (?).
But i've seen people walking around with this anime shirt and tattoos even.

Mahoraba Heartful days is one of those 2000's animes of a guy going to live in a dorm so he can go to university in a big city. This anime is honestly a big comfort food for me, and the characters are more well developed than i expected when i watched it for the first time.

I did watch that anime in late 2023 and it was pretty good.

Pale Cocoon
Watched not too long ago. Short and sweet, I really like it.
