Anime New Ghost in the Shell Anime (2026).

This looks.... well this looks fucking rad.
Fugg, feels like it's been forever since I've thought that about anything.....

I am SO here for this.

Just from the trailers, this really does look like a late 80s, maybe early 90s anime that's been cleaned up and upscaled to HD.
And I'm loving each new trailer, and yeah, it does look like the manga come to life, so to speak. As long as the sub and dub are handled right... and they most likely will be, with an IP as big as GITS, this should be really good.

Aside from that abortion of a movie that had Scarlett as the Major, I think this will be really good.
Drink major sippy break.webp

After so many attempts at reinventing the wheel, this one seems to finally be a ACTUAL adaptation of the manga, looking foward it
You pretty much hit the nail on the head of why the other adaptions didn't do it for me. They were just making another version of the two animated movies. More so the 1995 film.

As a fan of the OG dub on vhs back in the day and that exact same cast did the absolutely stellar ps1 game. I am wishing Mimi Woods could play the major in this again. She retired from voice acting as far as I am aware and Mary Elisabeth McGlynn's voice is a little on the huskier side, whereas Mimi Woods has a slightly nasally voice which I preferred and she's the OG English Major

I loved the ps1 game but it is easily one of the most difficult games I've ever played, however its one of the 10 odd ps1 games I still play. Headphones and turning up the volume is essential to the experience.

I am also the proud owner of this thing:

That soundtrack is so ::hellmo that the 2 CD version of the album fetches around 100. The pre daft punk era masterpieces of electronic music that the game is dripping with. Glorious. This album was a nightmare to release because it involved so many different artists and all back in 97::sailor-embarrassed

I still own my first dark horse flopped version of the GITS manga, worn but it's mine, I own the 4k of the 95 movie and I've practically been F**KING PRAYING for a series that was the same as the scenes done for the ps1 game but based on the original manga that had that dominion tank police crossed with appleseed vibes, and then dunked in philosophy to top it all off. I am hoping that the twins from dominion tank police have their cameo preserved. Fingers crossed. I also own the bi-lingual japanese version of the manage and the new dark horse box set with is unaltered versions of each manga in a quite large format. It is not the shortcut version of man machine interface.

I am not the biggest fan of sac despite the fire opening as Masamune Shirow stating he had a cop show in mind for GITS, that it didn't need to be the CSI procedural cop show with no humour or charm and I feel this being missing ruined it for me, not bad by any means but not for me, though that format was the literal shit of the time, procedural police dramas cleaned house.

Long story short, this series for me is simply:

It's taken too damned long!!!!
